Leopard geckos. I was never interested in getting one, but I ended up with two severely neglected ones that were surrendered to the local rattlesnake rescue. They contacted me to see if I would take them because they needed medical care that I had more access to/experience with, and I took them but was convinced they wouldn't last a week. I have them three years later, and they are so much fun. They love to crawl up to my shoulders and hang out under my sleeves. No regrets!
For me it was veiled chameleons, I swore to God they were one of the easiest reptiles to care for and compare them to bearded dragons, but I had three die on me from a very simple mistake, never keeping one again!!!!

Like, they aren't the kind of Reptile you can go a day without dedicating time to them. As well as money since they so often need vet care. They really just aren't a species that should be kept in captivity by everyone.
The mistake I made when I got my first bearded dragon is I told my dad to get small crickets(there was no small crickets)and he choked on the crickets on the first 3 days😕
I like the desk the guy made. He made a terrarium out of a desk with the top of a thick clear acrylic. He has several years of insects and little geckos in it. I think some frogs would work too.
Very hardy fish. You don't want their heat source to malfunction while you're out for the weekend and you can't rely on people you work with to care as much as you do. It's husbandry

Fiji Iguanas are gorgeous! 😍 PS - I have a 6 green iguana colony in a large outdoor pen. I almost think iguanas kept in outdoor areas getting real sun are much better tempered. The iguanas are different ages and two of them are adult males. No fighting and they naturally established a pecking order as they do in wild groups.
My green iguana was named Fluffy. He had free roam of the house but dedicated basking spots on book shelves and the entertainment center. He turned out to be the perfect pet for a person with ADD. You could set your clock by him and i pretty much did for years without realizing it.
My impression of green iguanas are that a) it's a bit of a gamble on personality even with tons of socializing b) you need to have the money and the correct set up to keep them happy and healthy to reduce aggression issues c) they are a bit more of a "lifestyle" pet instead of a "hobby" pet i.e. you need to put a lot more of your time and money into them than something like a ball python. I haven't done much research on them, but imo they fall into the same kind of broad category as have birds, dogs, cats, or kids. Their care is more intense and expensive, you can easily mess them up if you don't understand or care about what you're doing, plenty of people absolutely adore them but they aren't for everyone.
I am so glad you mentioned your green iguana I always am shocked and amazed when I hear all the horror stories about them. My male Green iguana I had him for almost 18 years and he was almost 6 ft long nose to take a tail and he never once gave me a problem he was amazing. I actually allowed him to free roam in the house the only time he would go to the bathroom is when I would put him in the bathtub with warm water.❤ He was absolutely amazing
My Iguana was very well behaved Iggy was the Shiz man he didn't but liked being handled most of the time but would occasionally slap you with his tail and it hurt
Just got a corn snake from petsmart with their "starter" setup. Glad your channel exist i didn't really know that wasn't the best play. That being said i did upgrade to bigger enclosure for her (that i didn't get petsart). Sorry guys gave petsmart money BUT i do have a beautiful corn snake , and now i know better.

I have three corn snakes and I love them to pieces. My two older ones are males, they're super chill and curious. They love to hang out with me and explore my pockets and sleeves and just generally see what's up. My baby (~9 months) is a palmetto girl and she's just a whole other level of belligerent 😂 I handle her regularly and she bites less than she used to, but it seems to be the general consensus that palmettos in general tend to be spicier than most morphs so I'm not counting on her ever being a model citizen, but that's okay, I still love her. I'm just really glad I had two chill dudes as my first snakes before I got her haha

Kenyan Sand Boas! They aren't just boxes of dirt, they are curious snakes and you will see them a lot if you are giving them enrichment. I see mine peaking it's head out basically constantly, but she also investigates every time I take out something like her water bowl and clean it. I think you are underestimating them and should give them another chance! Add to the fact that they are very reasonable for most people, good eaters, and handleable, they are a great pet and absolutely underrated as people are definitely not correct when they describe them as a snake you don't see or does much

The reptile hobby (like any hobby) has its silly quirks. The idea of coming full circle to realize that corn snakes are awesome is funny to me. It's like if a car enthusiasts said "you know, I'm actually a fan of corvettes."

Hi Adam, I’ve been by working with mountain horned dragons for about 2 years now, I believe that the A. lepidogaster you showed in your video is actually A. coronata. It is a species in the lepidogaster complex and are often imported without proper identification. There are some differences such as rostral scales, tail length, and the space between the crests. Lepidogasters are commonly referred to as brown prickle napes. Before you breed it, it would be a great idea to confirm the species as it would be detrimental to our efforts of establishing a strong captive bred population in Canada.
We were fostering a big male green Iggy named Gus, he was a total dreamboat of an animal. Super chill, friendly, loved to be on us, and he was the least dramatic animal in our house. If there was 1 reptile I would keep out of all the ones we had, he would most definitely be it. Yeah sure he liked to make big messes but its totally worth it when he is just as friendly as our puppy.

Begging you to get in contact with some of the Australian enthusiasts and do a showcase on dwarf monitors. Having the intelligence of monitors but in a smaller package (smaller enclosure!) seems like a big plus for a lot of people interested in monitor lizards with not a lot of space.
I’m still not keen on corn snakes, my first snake put me off them. All though I wonder what happened to them at the pet shop. She was fine, they looked after her while I was on holiday and when I got back she was so defensive. Biting everyone constantly, she was like a different snake and no matter how much I tried she would not tame down again
When I was first deciding on my first snake everyone recommended corn snakes but I was worried about the amount of people who said they were escape artists. I literally had a leachie before I got a corn snake, but my boy confetti is a sweet heart, super fun and inquisitive. So I got a girl to hopefully breed him with years down the road, since they're both little now. She escaped almost immediately and was gone for a solid month and two days. She avoided my cats in the rest of my house that entire time. Shes fine now, but I finally have had the full corn snake experience.
I definitely recommend getting a clubtail iguana (if you can find one)if you don’t have the space for a green iguana. And can’t get a Fiji banded iguana.
I have a Schneider skink i got him or her as an adult hes very shy and super slippery very hard to pick up if they dont want you to he comes out warms up soon as you feed it it goes back in it hide 😭 hes still super sweet and comical to watch he loves to climb but hes not very good at it
My 2nd reptile was a green, didn't last long as it was many moons ago and all were wild caught, babys, dehydration was rampent, the pet store replaced it. Great pet was 5 when i got it, most chill lizard's ever, cant say that for my brown skink or basilisk. Only downside ive seen is size they do get big. Now i have a lewisi juvenile very different but with a few months hes relatively calm and getting better fast, very smart pad training him going well. Definitely iuganas are all positive in my experience, they just get on the larger size.
I’ve literally never met anyone else who has had the same experience with Schneider’s skinks that you do 😭 Everyone I’ve met who keeps them says they’re flighty, stressed by handling, defensive, and always hide. Any insight on what you might be doing different than them?
I had a six foot male green iguana a little over 20 years ago. His name was Aztec and had a female friend named Maya. My aunt owned both for a few years before I got Aztec. She kept Maya fortunately! Maya was a snot and would absolutely tail whip and bite anytime you had anything to do with her. Get too close to the enclosure and she would tail whip the front of the enclosure. She was pleasant only to look at. Aztec was awesome, sort of. Huge, and amazing, and super chill, again, sort of. Let’s just say once a month every month my aunt had issues with Aztec becoming aggressive towards her, but never my uncle…. Once that time of month passed he was super chill with her again. This is why I wound up with him. For me he was a massive, super chill lizard that I had to devote a massive portion of my bedroom towards when I was in high school. He was easy to handle and just kinda hung out with me. With women, he was hit and miss based on “cycles”. In middle school, our animal science class had a female green iguana. She too was violent. In short, my experience with green iguanas is females are unpleasant. Males can be great, but potentially not if you’re a woman. Amazing animals, but definitely not one I recommend to anyone who isn’t absolutely committed to the animal, and giving up a room in their home to properly house one.
eastern green mamba, I traded a guy who bought this snake from a show and decided he was out of his league, he went from pencil size to 6' in 6 monthes, bad news i lost control of the snake, good news it was one of the few snake that bonded with me, I bred cobras back then and this mamba was above my expertise

Hi Frankie my favorite Fiji ,lol, it's strange to me they are iguanas, I can't think of any other that look like Frankie. Adam, are the dragons a member of The Jesus lizard species, I say this because the legs look similar. You should look at peters banded skink. These are beautiful and bury for about a few hours of the day the rest of the time they are super active and most off them are wild caught and are still incredibly tame.

Corn snakes are high on my next to get reptiles due to morphs. Super dwarf retics don't have the cow pattern yet and are way out of budget for me, but corn snakes.. they have all sorts of colors patterns and similar to the cow pattern retic.
I view iguanas as something that should no longer be even farm bred but we should care for those that have been produced up to this point. The green iguana can be an okay pet for someone that really knows reptiles and by that I mean someone that not only knows the care needed for them to thrive but that can read their body language and knows the intentions they are telegraphing based on their posture. Iguanas are a lot like monitors and tegus in that if you can read their body language they typically let you know when they want to be left alone and when they really really want to be left alone unless you would like a cool razor whip scar or the ability to accurately describe a the sensation of a bite, shake, and roll involving your arm, finger or if you are really lucky the face. They didn't asked to be mass produced and sold as a beginner reptile when nothing could be farther from the truth. I normally love your list but I dont think you underestimated the green iguana. They are incredibly expensive to care for correctly and during breeding season the males can be little demons like a slimmed down version of male elephants during musk. The males actually do better with females during these periods at least from my personal experience and I have seen some research corroborating this observation. They can be good some of the time and if you work really really hard some can be good most of the time but when they are bad it can be really really really bad. Adam is an expert and I am going to assume if he has an employee he trust with his animals that he clearly cares for that she is probably far more advanced than the average person watching this channel. I think iguanas deserve a home that provides them with the care and love they need to thrive but remember he is an expert and has another expert to help him with this individual so think long and hard before adopting or fostering a green iguana. They need a massive cage, with lighting and humidity requirements that in some locations can be provided outside if for only part of the year but when an inside closure is required it is going to be huge and incredibly expensive. The need a massive enclosure with areas to climb and a huge basking area with the most exensive of lighting and a humidity level that prevent free roaming the house unless you like mold and ruining any and all wood, leather or cloth fabrics within your home. This enclosure will also need to be cleaned regularly and there will be times when that cleaning will involve removing waste with a smell that would put any dog to shame while dodging an angry five foot lizard that can stand and and run at you on its hind legs and isn't scared to challenge you on who is the true master of that domain.
You need to quit being so hard on yourself brother! We need more forgiveness in this hobby and less judgement. I do find it hilarious that you had negative opinions about Corn snakes, I must have missed that episode. Anything with a mouth can bite, a human toddlers bite can be worse than most other animals. Bad example, owning a toddler can really suck...
So when are you going to do one on Panther chameleons that's what I keep and I think they're the best pet ever people say that they're hard to keep and you can't handle them that's total crap I handle mine everyday no signs of stress he wants to come out and play with me as long as you keep a mister and proper temperatures they're super easy to care for I don't know why everyone says that they're so hard to take care of they were actually my first reptile ever now I think I'm going to take the leap and finally start breeding them
i think corn snakes are incredibly boring... in a good way! Boring isn't always bad... my corn snakes are chill i can hang with them and they think they're a ball python just that they're trying to sit on my shoulders and on my head instead of in my lap
I know this has nothing to do with the video, but I just wanted to see if I could get some answers . So my friend keeps telling me that according to Google morning, geckos and gargoyle geckos don’t need to have a male or mate to reproduce. And that if you have a female gecko, it will lay fertile eggs without a male to fertilize. And considering my female lays eggs, even though they’ve never hatched that’s what’s she thinking . but I also don’t have an incubator because that’s expensive and I wasn’t trying to breed. But she swears up and down that those eggs are fertile and that they’ll hatch. However, according to the vet, that’s highly impossible and other breeders I’ve talked to says it’s never happened , it has a possibility but it’s never been documented. I’d like some information to help confirm or deny this claim.

I dont belive anymore or not much about " character of species" similarities yes gotha but they are very individuall always I have 20 reptiles and my moste calm are retics, pigmy, carpets, balls, moste nasty/deffensive are: spotted python and dumerils boa. They all are so individual. It is very randome i guess like with cats or people. You never know if you are rasing a killer cat that hates you or the sweatest carpet that loves to hung out with me ♡♡♡♡
White lip pythons. Everyone says they're bitey and have an attitude. I don't have one YET but im working on the enclosure and once its done I got a baby from a friend of mines breeding pair coming my way. Obviously havent met my baby yet but mommy and daddy are both amazing. My buddy said he's taken one tag from the male while he was in blue and my friend woke him up and scared him.

Uromastyx, I had a Mali and I really underestimated her! She was sweet natured and very personable!
I have a Schneider skink i got him or her as an adult hes very shy and super slippery very hard to pick up if they dont want you to he comes out warms up soon as you feed it it goes back in it hide 😭 hes still super sweet and comical to watch he loves to climb but hes not very good at it
For long nails on lizards try giving them a concrete rectangular prism type ramp/branch. Just one they use semi often files their nails perfectly
My 2nd reptile was a green, didn't last long as it was many moons ago and all were wild caught, babys, dehydration was rampent, the pet store replaced it. Great pet was 5 when i got it, most chill lizard's ever, cant say that for my brown skink or basilisk. Only downside ive seen is size they do get big. Now i have a lewisi juvenile very different but with a few months hes relatively calm and getting better fast, very smart pad training him going well. Definitely iuganas are all positive in my experience, they just get on the larger size.

I had a six foot male green iguana a little over 20 years ago. His name was Aztec and had a female friend named Maya. My aunt owned both for a few years before I got Aztec. She kept Maya fortunately! Maya was a snot and would absolutely tail whip and bite anytime you had anything to do with her. Get too close to the enclosure and she would tail whip the front of the enclosure. She was pleasant only to look at. Aztec was awesome, sort of. Huge, and amazing, and super chill, again, sort of. Let’s just say once a month every month my aunt had issues with Aztec becoming aggressive towards her, but never my uncle…. Once that time of month passed he was super chill with her again. This is why I wound up with him. For me he was a massive, super chill lizard that I had to devote a massive portion of my bedroom towards when I was in high school. He was easy to handle and just kinda hung out with me. With women, he was hit and miss based on “cycles”.
In middle school, our animal science class had a female green iguana. She too was violent.
In short, my experience with green iguanas is females are unpleasant. Males can be great, but potentially not if you’re a woman.
Amazing animals, but definitely not one I recommend to anyone who isn’t absolutely committed to the animal, and giving up a room in their home to properly house one.
eastern green mamba, I traded a guy who bought this snake from a show and decided he was out of his league, he went from pencil size to 6' in 6 monthes, bad news i lost control of the snake, good news it was one of the few snake that bonded with me, I bred cobras back then and this mamba was above my expertise

Hi Frankie my favorite Fiji ,lol, it's strange to me they are iguanas, I can't think of any other that look like Frankie. Adam, are the dragons a member of The Jesus lizard species, I say this because the legs look similar. So happy you got a calm green Iguana to prove that all animals are sentient, therefore they each have there own personality. Educational and fun, thank you Adam.🐍🦎👍❤️

You should look at peters banded skink. These are beautiful and bury for about a few hours of the day the rest of the time they are super active and most off them are wild caught and are still incredibly tame.

Corn snakes are high on my next to get reptiles due to morphs. Super dwarf retics don't have the cow pattern yet and are way out of budget for me, but corn snakes.. they have all sorts of colors patterns and similar to the cow pattern retic.
Well they do have the cow but yes they are insanely priced. One pair that I know of right now anyway

I see green iguanas everyday in my Florida neighborhood. First I thought they were cool, now I’m sick of them.

I view iguanas as something that should no longer be even farm bred but we should care for those that have been produced up to this point. The green iguana can be an okay pet for someone that really knows reptiles and by that I mean someone that not only knows the care needed for them to thrive but that can read their body language and knows the intentions they are telegraphing based on their posture. Iguanas are a lot like monitors and tegus in that if you can read their body language they typically let you know when they want to be left alone and when they really really want to be left alone unless you would like a cool razor whip scar or the ability to accurately describe a the sensation of a bite, shake, and roll involving your arm, finger or if you are really lucky the face. They didn't asked to be mass produced and sold as a beginner reptile when nothing could be farther from the truth. I normally love your list but I dont think you underestimated the green iguana. They are incredibly expensive to care for correctly and during breeding season the males can be little demons like a slimmed down version of male elephants during musk. The males actually do better with females during these periods at least from my personal experience and I have seen some research corroborating this observation. They can be good some of the time and if you work really really hard some can be good most of the time but when they are bad it can be really really really bad. Adam is an expert and I am going to assume if he has an employee he trust with his animals that he clearly cares for that she is probably far more advanced than the average person watching this channel. I think iguanas deserve a home that provides them with the care and love they need to thrive but remember he is an expert and has another expert to help him with this individual so think long and hard before adopting or fostering a green iguana. They need a massive cage, with lighting and humidity requirements that in some locations can be provided outside if for only part of the year but when an inside closure is required it is going to be huge and incredibly expensive. The need a massive enclosure with areas to climb and a huge basking area with the most exensive of lighting and a humidity level that prevent free roaming the house unless you like mold and ruining any and all wood, leather or cloth fabrics within your home. This enclosure will also need to be cleaned regularly and there will be times when that cleaning will involve removing waste with a smell that would put any dog to shame while dodging an angry five foot lizard that can stand and and run at you on its hind legs and isn't scared to challenge you on who is the true master of that domain.

I do find it hilarious that you had negative opinions about Corn snakes, I must have missed that episode. Anything with a mouth can bite, a human toddlers bite can be worse than most other animals. So when are you going to do one on Panther chameleons that's what I keep and I think they're the best pet ever people say that they're hard to keep and you can't handle them that's total crap I handle mine everyday no signs of stress he wants to come out and play with me as long as you keep a mister and proper temperatures they're super easy to care for I don't know why everyone says that they're so hard to take care of they were actually my first reptile ever now I think I'm going to take the leap and finally start breeding them

i think corn snakes are incredibly boring... in a good way! Boring isn't always bad... my corn snakes are chill i can hang with them and they think they're a ball python just that they're trying to sit on my shoulders and on my head instead of in my lap
I know this has nothing to do with the video, but I just wanted to see if I could get some answers . So my friend keeps telling me that according to Google morning, geckos and gargoyle geckos don’t need to have a male or mate to reproduce. And that if you have a female gecko, it will lay fertile eggs without a male to fertilize. And considering my female lays eggs, even though they’ve never hatched that’s what’s she thinking . but I also don’t have an incubator because that’s expensive and I wasn’t trying to breed. But she swears up and down that those eggs are fertile and that they’ll hatch. However, according to the vet, that’s highly impossible and other breeders I’ve talked to says it’s never happened , it has a possibility but it’s never been documented. I’d like some information to help confirm or deny this claim.

I dont belive anymore or not much about " character of species" similarities yes gotha but they are very individuall always I have 20 reptiles and my moste calm are retics, pigmy, carpets, balls, moste nasty/deffensive are: spotted python and dumerils boa. They all are so individual. It is very randome i guess like with cats or people. You never know if you are rasing a killer cat that hates you or the sweatest carpet that loves to hung out with me ♡♡♡♡
White lip pythons. Everyone says they're bitey and have an attitude. I don't have one YET but im working on the enclosure and once its done I got a baby from a friend of mines breeding pair coming my way. Obviously havent met my baby yet but mommy and daddy are both amazing. My buddy said he's taken one tag from the male while he was in blue and my friend woke him up and scared him.
They can be amazing pets
