Sparking Zero may have lost game of the year, but the fact that an Anime Game has made it to the top 5 best selling game of the year is really impressive
I do hope we get a Sequel of Sparking Zero in the next 2-4 years. I don't want another Xenoverse 2 where Bandai is gonna milk this game for like 10 years. This makes me feel like this is going to be a New Series of Tenkaichi Games, which is how Sparking Zero was so rushed and unfinished at launch. A Sparking Zero Sequel will do insanely well, much like back in the day when Tenkaichi 2 game out. To me, this will be the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy of the Tenkaichi Series. The Sequel BETTER have much more Single Player Content, more Balanced Mechanics, Crossplay, Better Story Mode with in game cutscenes, Everyone returning from BT3 (OG Dragon Ball, GT, Movies) and better Customization. I hope Spike Chunsoft will take feedback from Sparking Zero and puts it in the sequel. And better communication from the Devs and tye Community is greatly appreciated.

This is a fourth installment of the game series that came out almost 20 years ago. Not to mention we also have the raging blast games which also has the Tenkaichi format. I think what they're doing to do is just keep updating the game and fixing stuff over time.
The Final Fantasy 7 trilogy example is terrible because those action rpgs divided into parts retelling the story with changes while Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 4.
I platinumed the game. my biggest complaint is that the story mode doesnt let you finish alot of fights. Fights end after 2 mins or so if you win or dont and you're forced to continue on. I want to freaking win the fight. i understand some stories are survival or wait until a thing happens but theres still alot of missions that just cut off after a time limit. for online, I would say they do DP ranked fights like 2 - 6 only, 7 - 11 only. so you arent just seeing the same 5 characters online
it actually has a few more modes you didn’t mention like you could actually make public custom battles and there is a tournament mode, but the custom battles are kinda limited
If they do 2v2's it should be like Xenoverse, where it's online or offline but there's 2 players on the screen instead of it just being 1 player and you have to keep swapping back n forward.
"Only one game mode for online players?". Literally no. We have World Tournament mode with different rulesets including custom ones but everyone - including you - chooses to ignore it. You can't even find a lobby anymore or have someone joins yours Custom Battles are more than they look like, too. You can bake What-ifs into your fights and add custom challenges. The problem is: nobody does that. Everyone blames it on the poor dialogue search, but this is not even related to dialogue. The community simply rejects playing the game, no matter the mode Best you can do is casual DP battles. Here you have balanced teams and a higher chance to encounter players who want to have fun instead of -exploiting- winning at any cost
Game is good but is lacking in a lot of stuff, cut characters that should’ve been in the base game, cut stages, lack of content, story mode felt lazy, just realized they didn’t even added in the movie fights,
The thing is that while Sparking Zero is fun, the story isn’t the best and it lacks some content and even characters to some degree. I wish there was more representation from other universes in Super or even GT.
It lost GoTY because there are 182 characters and 3 things to do with them. I normally deeply resent the implication that the Game Awards matter, but we need to be able to talk about this. More than that, no Jaco.
@zelohendricks51 DP Battles, Single Battles, and Story Mode/Customs (grouped together because the gameplay aspect is the same). I at least wish they would add different playlists in DP battles depending on what you want the max team DP to be.
The reason this game lost goty was cause it came out too early for a release date before daima to promote daima this is an issue that happens to many games causing them to be bad
