Good explanation but it would be better to spell out the words before you use the Acronym for the first time - I don't know what the SI stands for in SI engines even though I worked on engines for 50 years - I know it is going to be something obvious when I find out. Hmmm after thinking about for some time I guess it's Spark Ignition but not blindingly obvious - to me anyway.

Some people read it as MULTAI too although many don't. In English there are TONS of such words whose pronunciation varies. INDAAYRECT OR INDEERECT. OFEN OR OFTen. And many such.
