I absolutely agree with you. Finland is a machine creating metal, especially Melodic Death, probably the best, like Insomnium, Wolfheart, Mors Principium Est, BloodRed Hourglass, Mors Subita, Ensiferum, Wintersun, Whispered and many others, or bands of other styles like Nightwish or Amorphis. The list is endless
@@mysticeyes_ Mygrain, Kaunis Kuolemanton, Marianas Rest, Before the Dawn, Black Sun Aeon, Dawn of Solace, Omnium Gatherum, Brymir etc... we could spend all day naming bands XD
This band is criminally underrated, they should be massive. They have a golden touch when it comes to melodic, melancholy yet uplifting riffs. I'd like to recommend Anaal Nathrakh - Endarkenment. It's a bit heavier than what you usually react to, but still very melodic in parts. This is the title track to their new album which comes out this week, which looks like it will be the soundtrack to 2020.
@@ulozto666 Yep! Add Be'lakor to that and that's my top 3 melodeath bands right there. They're not Finnish but they're amazing enough to qualify as a Finnish band lol
You're reacting to the #1 song in my playlist. This song has a special place in my heart. Yesterday was my mom's 3rd year anniversary- and this was one of those songs I put on to commemorate her because it did help me cope with the loss. It still does. Tanks again (pun!). Also, this song is best experienced with its predecessor, The Primeval Dark.
TankTheTech Adding to what Juliette said: every Insomnium album starts with a ’prolude’ song that leads into the second song (in this case Primeval dark + While we sleep). The Gale + Mortal Share is my favourite combo by far!
Insomnium - THE music for autumn an beginning winter. 🥰 Just imagine yourself, sitting in front of your fireplace, looking out of the window in the rainy evening with a glas of red wine and thinking about life and death while listening insomnium. :) In case your're interested, their is a song called "Winters Gate" by them, it's 42:05 min long. Thinking about your own and all vanitas, having a memento mori. 🤘🏻🤓

’Heart like a grave’ from Insomnium is heartbreaking! Another band you should check out is Swallow the sun, also a melodeath band. ’Firelights’ by them is awesome !
Swallow the Sun is probably my second favourite band. Though I'd call them Death/Doom, not melodeath. Definitely would love to see Tank react to them though
Agreed, Heart like a grave is definitely one to have on this channel as well.. Has all the best elements which melodic metal song needs to have.. You have a heart of stone if that does not make you emotional.

Finnish melancholy! This band is stellar! This song comes from the album Shadows of the Dying Sun. Saw them live in a small club last year they did in the first part the whole Winter's Gate album. Great bunch of guys. This will certainly be for your palet! They also did a song with Mikael Stanne of Dark Tranquillity called Weather the Storm.
Great reaction! A new band for you! I recommend Revelations, The Killjoy, Against The Stream, Lay of the Autumn, Last Statement, The Day It all Came Down
Insomnium tours the US quite a lot and with amazing lineups. Some examples: Insomnium, Lacuna Coil, and Epica, another Insomnium Alestorm, and Epica. First time live for me after the set all the members thanked the crowd and in a thick English accent said "We are poor Finish band, please buy our merch" I quickly went out and got a shirt and CD. Great band live, they have always sounded good even in crappy venues. Insomnium - The Primeval Dark, would be my next recommend, but its not as popular as some other songs, I just like it. This type of melodic metal has a specific sound that just makes me relax and feel good. Similar bands that do this for me are Agalloch, Moonsorrow, and Riverside (Technically Prog Metal, but they go heavy in some songs). Agalloch is my favorite when it comes to this chill effect, and the entire Moonsorrow album Kivenkantaja.
This band has had my support since they helped me through my grandfather's passing. Was even more excited when I finally started going to concerts on a continual basis and managed to catch that tour with Epica and Lacuna Coil at the Cleveland show in the lovely Agora Theatre, and then went to their 2018 tour with Oceans of Slumber, and their only 2020 North America show with their brothers in Omnium Gatherum and Seven Spires in Philadelphia, 4 days before covid screwing everything up.. The whole band is truly appreciative for their fans, and I will support them for as long as they are together.

Belzebubs has actually some great songs as well, and the two music videos are hilarious! Tank should react to those as well, Cathedrals Of Mourning and Blackened Call

Glad you liked it. Saw them two years ago on a really small festival here in Germany but even there you could see what great musicians these guys are. Please keep go on with your channel exactly this way its just great stuff \m/ greetings from Germany
Hey @tankthetech ... if you listen during the growling chorus, the lead guitar plays a backing harmony, and the rhythm guitar is chording off the harmony. One thing I love about Insomnium is that not only do they kick 17 forms of ass, they are also as skilled musically as many other Finnish bands.
You'll love more of Insomnium's stuff for sure! My dad isn't a metalhead (Nightwish is an exception, fp course) but he said he liked Insomnium's song Heart Like A Grave. Helps that it was filmed in Koli National Park, which dad also loves. It's not live (and I can't look for a live version right now), but that video also shows instumens well. I saw Insomnium a year as ago with Bloodred Hourglass, which was warming up for them. Another band you HAVE to check out!
Hat off and headbanging so soon . Love your enthusiasm for bands that you have never heard before , you take them on face value on first time hearing them play .
Love going back to check out some of these older reactions. Been listening to metal for 40+years, and Finnish / Scandi metal for about 20+ years now. This song is still to this day my all time favorite metal song!!!
Their third album from 2006, Above the Weeping World, is still one of my all-time favorite Finnish metal albums, along with, I might add, the self-titled debut album of Wintersun.
Glad you got this video back up! Love Insomnium so much, and one hell of a band live. Time for some more of them on the channel if CM plays nice in the future with you
Another great reaction. Glad you got to upload it. The song is basically about how life and society keeps pushing up forward and us trying to keep up. And in this pursuit we leave things we love behind and later realize we cannot go back whats lost is lost. So "we need to slow down" so the rest can catch up. This song can hit pretty hard. I left alot behind working my ass off, reaching nothing, ending up alone. So i stopped and started visiting concerts and festivals. I lived way more in the last two years than the last 10. Thanks Insomnium. Oh btw if you dig that check out The Hunt by Wolfheart kinda goes into the same direction. And its a studio video so lots of gear to see. Stay healthy man ✌🏻
Insomnium is one of those bands that doesn't have a bad song. All of them are brilliant and beautiful, with deep lyrics and masterful melodies. And since you love knowing their gear, you should react to Heart Like A Grave.
Man, am I ever late to the party on this one. This is something special. As soon as this video is over, I promise I’ll be looking through their discography. Holy cow!
I'm a huge Insomnium fan and can only recommend you that genre as a whole if you like them. Especially Sweden and Finnland have great Melodic Death Metal scenes. I highly recommend Stam1na (probably a good reaction video as well), Omnium Gatherum, Dark Tranquility, At the Gates, Soulfallen, swallow the sun, Norther, and of course those who paved the way in the past, like Amon Amarth, Hipocrisy, Arch Enemy, older In Flames etc
So glad that you seem to enjoy this band as much as I do!! They really got me into this whole genre, and they're just f*cking brilliant at what they do. For further songs with music videos I highly recommend reacting to Heart Like A Grave, One For Sorrow and Through The Shadows 😁
First time watching this band myself as well, happy to have joined you! I really appreciate your appreciation and support to your fans! Super badass for sure.i have so many other awesome bands to recommend!! But even more so happy I discovered your channel and interactions.says a lot. 🤘💯❤️ Super mad kudo's, super relieving and inspiring to come across someone who appreciates good music as far as my taste goes
The thing about music: You may not hear a song for many months, and then when you suddenly do, you're flooded with all you've felt when you used to listen to it. For some reason this especially hits me with this particular song. But I digress. I have an opposite problem than you: Fell into the rabbit hole of Finnish metal some time ago and couldn't get out of it, didn't make any effort to check out anything else 😂. Now at least thanks to yours and Chase's channel expanded a bit and found some other stuff 😁. Amorphis in the background at the end made me chuckle, I guess more of it coming.
One word about Insomnium : POWERFUL. Seen them live twice, that was absolute madness and poetry. I've just remembered another band from the same country, with the same kinda feeling, and I'm 100% positive that you will really enjoy it. The band is called Omnium Gatherum - "The Unknowing" (music video) Enjoy man !
I'm an extreme metal guy, but Insomnium has always had a special place in my heart. I've listened to them since I was a young teenager. They are the perfect band to get stoned and relax too.
that clean tone is so wonderful in this song. i love that they stripped that back. to many metal bands are afraid to strip back and drop away from the roaring wall of sound for a moment.
if you like insomnium, then you MUST check out omnium gatherum (they share a guitarist) and dark tranquility (dt's singer is a guest vocalist on one of insomnium's songs, weather the storm [great song, check that one out, too, the video is live shots]) og songs: new world shadows, frontiers (good looks at gear), be the sky dt songs: icipher, misery's crown (live shots), atoma, focus shift belakor is another melodic death metal band worth checking out.
Never have a band made me feel so sad and happy at the same time! so powerful, dark and melancholic.. my "go to" band during autumn and winter. \m/ Fun fact. Early Insomnium have a similar guitar style and tone as oldschool In Flames.
TankTheTech That’s a valid reason for sure haha! They will probably release some videos from that gig on their facebook later, that’s what they’ve been doing previously too.
Tank, it is a JOY to witness you also finding joy in 'our' music, be it light, dark, happy or sad. Metal brings me joy. Peace and joy. Also, I'm in my mid 60's now, and a wildland fire-faller, (we fall dead, burning and danger trees in forest fires, often on fire, in fire, severely damaged by fire, and often huge and... deadly), and songs and bands like this help me face the grim reality of what I do, if you know what I mean. Strongly suggesting another Melodeath band from Mighty Finland, Omnium Gatherum, and 'Be The Sky' from their wonderful 'The Burning Cold' album, would be a fine place to start, featuring a very tasteful use of a fretless bass. Thank-you, sir. Carry on.
I really enjoy these guys. I can't remember who turned me on to them, might have just been a recommended artist while listening to something else. Was really bummed because I was supposed to see them for the first time earlier this year and lockdown prevented that by less than a week!
Aside from your reactions and the actual content, one of my favorite things about this channel is the recommendations for more kickass metal to listen to.
Insomnium is one of the OGs in melodeath, my personal favourite from them is Ephemeral, it is heavy and extremely emotional. Would love to see your reaction to that one!
This is my first time seeing this/ you. Damn dude, I felt your whole reaction! Yes, it was the same for me only I was introduced and listened for the first time with my literal soul mate! Unreal! This brings back the feels! I fucking loved watching your face watching this. Insomnium is so brutal live, it's intoxicating watching them. Dude, I'm so happy i saw this! It made my day! Hell yeah! I'm tearing up just thinking about how bad fucking ass they are! 🤘♥️🤘
Joensuu has the second most metal bands per capita in Finland 233,4 per 100 000 (only lost to tiny municipality Lemi where the number is 422,6). Also from the neighboring cities there has came bands like Nightwish from Kitee, so here in North Karelia things are quite okey when it comes to music.
Finland is probably the biggest producer for the metal scene. Also, loving the choice for the closing song. f'ing love Amorphis and the song Death of a King! 🤘
Mel-o-death: been hooked ever since hearing it when I was a wee lad in high school and it changed my musical life, I deep dove for the next several years; fave genre to this day
Good choice Tank.......for those drummers that haven't mastered the double kick yet this is a great song to throw into your headphones and play along to....it keeps a great time and those emotive / expressive moments that are super fun:)...and I like your shirt Dude!
I used to listen to this band all the time as a teen back in the day. I think my favourite song of theirs is 'In the Halls of Awaiting', which is like a 11 minute epic that you can just put on in the background and let the mood take you. It's too long to react to, but definitely recommend for a private listen.
This warms my heart and makes me incredibly happy! I've listened and followed them since their demo days (so 20+ years...) and they truly deserve all the success they've been gaining in recent years. They were about to start a US tour just when the pandemic hit so they just flew in and out of the country which was a huge hit for them and the other bands on the tour. Seen them many times, one of the memorable gigs was at midsummer, playthrough of full Winter's Gate at midnight in almost -0C weather and heavy heavy heavy rain, true finnish summer(winter). :D It was so freezing and magical, endless headbanging to keep warm. Winter's Gate would be an awesome live stream reaction. And anything from them won't disappoint! :) One of their guitarist is Jani Liimatainen who writes the songs for Anette from Nightwish in their project The Dark Element. I'd suggest Songs The Night Sings from their newest record. Also, he started in Sonata Arctica and from his time in the band I'd suggest Power Of One or Destruction Preventer. He is an absolutely phenomenal composer.
Isn't it kind os ironic, the band is called Insomnium, and the song is called "While we SLEEP" xD All jokes aside though, I LOVE INSOMNIUM! And this song specifically is easily on my all time favourites list!
Cannot say anything else but, oh what music! (I do like your background music a lot, too, Death of King :-). What I really would like to have, however, is a poster of the last two compositions, i.e. the one with the woman looking up at the moon in eclipse, and the one with just the moon and a circle of birds around it. What an effing incredible video!
Insomnium’s great! Love their melancholic take on melodeath. Also - hilarious reaction to realizing they’re using CGI. For another band on the melancholic side: I recommend fellow Finnish band Swallow the Sun’s song Cathedral Walls. That song is part of the era where Kai Hahto was their drummer, and Annette Olzon does guest vocals on it for the double Nightwish connection.
Other reactionaries take note, Tank's reactions are SSS tier. Y'all gonna have to step it up if you want to compete with this guy! Just watched one of your Spiritbox reactions on a whim a ways back and it was awesome! Great production quality, awesome energy, you're concise, and I LOVE the annotations and the quantifiable knowledge you bring to the table. Keep it up man and have an awesome day!

I saw Insomnium a year as ago with Bloodred Hourglass, which was warming up for them. Another band you HAVE to check out!
Hat off and headbanging so soon . Love your enthusiasm for bands that you have never heard before , you take them on face value on first time hearing them play .
Yes, yes! Finally coming to this fantastic band. Great reaction!!!
Another reaction that brings back a band into my mind --- so many out there and over time, my taste had changed --- great job once again ...
The riffs on this song is gold!! The build up to the solo gives me goosebumps!! Killer song!!
Well, dagnabbit. Another Tank PR victory. I've known about Insomnium for years but never actually heard them and here I am, tears in my eyes.
Well worth the re-watch and re-like, one of my all-time biggest favourite bands
Glad you got this video back up! Love Insomnium so much, and one hell of a band live. Time for some more of them on the channel if CM plays nice in the future with you
It's a flame, bro. Right from the start. Can't even think straight because it feels like the song took me to another dimension.
Yet another awesome band from Finland. Nice reaction. Thank you. Let’s listen more. 😀👍
Insomnium is the perfect band to listen to in the fall. All their albums are great. Any song you check out will be good.
If you want to see and hear what Finland looks and sounds like, you should do Insomnium - Heart Like a Grave.
Great choice! I recommend to try their Pale Morning Star from the latest album cause it’s real masterpiece!
Man, am I ever late to the party on this one. This is something special. As soon as this video is over, I promise I’ll be looking through their discography. Holy cow!
If you like Insomnium, you may be like also Be'Lakor
But here is another stlye of music:
LONG DISTANCE CALLING - Immunity (Live at Wacken World Wide)
Other people have Floorgasms, I get Insomniumgasms. Their lyrics are like poetry and their compositions and arrangements are pure art.
I know it's older, but this song changed my life! It's their masterpiece to me lol
One word about Insomnium : POWERFUL. Seen them live twice, that was absolute madness and poetry.
I've just remembered another band from the same country, with the same kinda feeling, and I'm 100% positive that you will really enjoy it.
The band is called Omnium Gatherum - "The Unknowing" (music video)
Enjoy man !
That was the most beautiful metal song I've heard on your channel.
I'm an extreme metal guy, but Insomnium has always had a special place in my heart. I've listened to them since I was a young teenager. They are the perfect band to get stoned and relax too.
that clean tone is so wonderful in this song. i love that they stripped that back. to many metal bands are afraid to strip back and drop away from the roaring wall of sound for a moment.
if you like insomnium, then you MUST check out omnium gatherum (they share a guitarist) and dark tranquility (dt's singer is a guest vocalist on one of insomnium's songs, weather the storm [great song, check that one out, too, the video is live shots])
og songs: new world shadows, frontiers (good looks at gear), be the sky
dt songs: icipher, misery's crown (live shots), atoma, focus shift
belakor is another melodic death metal band worth checking out.
Bloodred Hourglass - Waves of Black
Wolfheart - Zero Gravity would be nice! And Omnium Gatherum - The uknowing
Never have a band made me feel so sad and happy at the same time!
so powerful, dark and melancholic.. my "go to" band during autumn and winter. \m/
Fun fact. Early Insomnium have a similar guitar style and tone as oldschool In Flames.
I love In Flames, and have no idea how I’d never listened to Insomnium before now considering their sounds are close.
This has made me ridiculously happy! Thank you for doing and enjoying this band!
Oh yes!! Insomnium ❤️. The last band I saw live before corona came to town.
Mine was Amorphis
Insomnium are awesome. You should check out Be'lakor at some point too, my favourite Melodic Death Metal band!
One of my ABSOLUTE favorite songs, can't wait for your reaction!
One of the best gigs I have been was in about 2005, Swallow The Sun, Insomnium and Amorphis.
Damn it Tank, you did it again, you found another one for my playlists
One of my absolute favorite bands. Every song they have is absolutely killer!
maaybe you would like Mors Principium Est
The Unborn
He would love them I think.
You have to check out Kalmah - Seventh Swamphony!
By the way, they are doing a livestream gig 10/10/2020 if you’re interested. Check their facebook for more info!
Man, I want to watch it, but don’t wanna ruin any future reactions for the channel. Maybe I just react to something from that concert. Haha
There's only one word for this song - masterpiece. Everything, but everything this band does is awesome. Great reaction dude.
Aside from your reactions and the actual content, one of my favorite things about this channel is the recommendations for more kickass metal to listen to.
🤘🤘🤘
Thank you for the introduction of this great band. Melodic Death Metal, a new one in the big list of Metal genres.
Tank, this may be my favorite of the bands I had never listened to so far on your channel.
🤘🤘🤘
Melodeath recommendation. Be'lakor. Australian lads at their best.
Yes yes yes !!!!!
Oh hell yeah! Abeyance off of Of Breath and Bone is a great one!
Fraught is probably one of the greatest songs ever written.
Mel-o-death: been hooked ever since hearing it when I was a wee lad in high school and it changed my musical life, I deep dove for the next several years; fave genre to this day
Reminds me a lot of Swedish band In Mourning, with a little bit of Amon Amarth sprinkled on top.
Great reaction dude, melodeath at its finest 👌
Good choice Tank.......for those drummers that haven't mastered the double kick yet this is a great song to throw into your headphones and play along to....it keeps a great time and those emotive / expressive moments that are super fun:)...and I like your shirt Dude!
Finnish melodeath FTW.
Try Bloodred Hourglass - Waves of Black or Quiet Complaint
What a new experience, i really liked this. S cool to be along for the ride!
Another great band from Finland!
Cannot say anything else but, oh what music! (I do like your background music a lot, too, Death of King :-). What I really would like to have, however, is a poster of the last two compositions, i.e. the one with the woman looking up at the moon in eclipse, and the one with just the moon and a circle of birds around it. What an effing incredible video!
so awesome music, guitar melodies are great, lyrics heartaching :)
First time i hear them was in concert with Lacuna Coil and Epica. Was an amazing show. Picked up there cd the next day
Insomnium’s great!
Thank you soooooo very much for the compliment! I’m glad you’re enjoying it.
Ha!...When the hat goes, Tank is loving it!
