I didn't cry on my wedding, I didn't cry when I held my kids for the first time, but I had to wipe away some tears on this one. The sound is all I wanted from music over the last 10-20 years.
You and I definitely share experiences when it comes to these guys. I also got heavily into Melodic Death Metal in my early High School years through bands like In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork, At The Gates and Arch Enemy, and these bands shepherded me into the music I love today. In Flames and Dark Tranquillity were always the two at the top of the pile for me. I bought all of their albums and carried them with me everywhere. Without these bands, I would not have found Ensiferum and started my folk metal journey, or branched out into the Finnish scene and found Children Of Bodom, Norther and Kalmah, which gave me my love of Keyboards and Keyboard solos (which lead directly into discovering my love for Melodic Power Metal). These guys had a profound impact on my life, and I could not be happier that this project exists!
Same, man! Without these two bands, and a few others, I would have never discovered Children of Bodom and a lot of other awesome bands from Europe that I got into.
I'm in the same boat aswell, the fact this is a thing just makes me so happy. mid to late 90's melodeath is the shit! Easily some of the best metal in that era!
Haha best reaction ever when the song kicks in! Seeing you brought to tears brings ME to tears. This is pure happiness and the best that happened to the metal world since.. yeah, since Jesper left.
Was rolling back through your vids and stumbled upon this one...No idea how I missed it a year ago. I love this album and Gateways is probably my fav song on it.
This was the best surprise/news of this whole f... Year, no competition. And you've perfectly expressed what i'm and a lot of other humans, who are into melodeath, are feeling when listening to this tack. Cheers
This is sooo good! The Gothenburg bands has been in my life since my teenage years, i'm 37 now. Specially Dark Tanquillity that has a special place in my heart. You're right, this is kind of emotional indeed. Awesome channel Tank! Cheers from Sweden.
I think we share the same excitement dude. I was shaking when I heard about this song! I grew up on this stuff, the melo-death of course, and am just blown away and so excited for the album! Great reaction, and fuck yeah to the head banging, I did it through the while song when I first heard it!!
I’m so moved by your enthusiasm❤️ Dark Tranquillity was the first melo death band I heard as a teenager and the first chance to channel all those deep, angry and sad feelings and still beeing able to see the beauty in the same music. They were and always will be THE metal band for me. They showed that there truly is beauty and skill in the darker tones too.
I remember jamming “Lost to Apathy” on repeat through high school. And seeing In Flames in 2005 was probably the best live show I’ve been to. This is awesome.
Haha Dude, your video placed me in such a good mood ! This band made me basically have the same kind of reactions you did have ! I'm extremelly excited as well about this song and the album that I can't stop listening to !
First metal bands that i listened?, Bodom, In Flames, Dark tranquillity, and many more. As a Finn, Swedish and finnish metal, surely was easy to find, i was so happy to see this band and all the members. And also happy that u finally viewd this ;). DT has always special part in my heart, Therein was song that i was listening when i heard friend on mine has died, still cant liste to that song without tearing
There is nothing better than watching a true fan react to new music, I'm with you on this one Tank sounds like old(ish) in flames with Michael's distinctive growl. Take care my friend 🤘🏻.
Your initial reaction is literally exactly how I reacted to seeing this the first time. As a huge IF fan (tattoos and all) this makes me so happy. Brings back so many memories of every time I got the pleasure of meeting all of these guys!
I just heard this song the other day on Spotify and thought it was badass. I hit the "like" button right away. I had no clue there were members of In Flames in the band. In Flames is one of my favorite bands, so it makes sense that this bands sound immediately attracted me.
I really love that in other videos you toss your cap to the side or just let it fall but here you fucking yeeted it through the entire room. Shows how close home this music hits. Keep up the great work! Greetings from Germany.
So good to see Jesper back in action ! The man in a legend and for me, one of my favorite riff makers of all time. Honestly it sounds a lot more like DT than IF, BUT it's just the first single so I'm really excited to see what comes next
I love your sincere and excited reaction mate! I had the very same reaction haha. When I saw the band members walk in I got insane goosebumps! In Flames was my gateway into the Metal genre. Soundtrack to Your Escape was my intro when I was 13 In 2006. Absolute nostalgia overload. Thank you for this Tank! 🤙🏼🔥you absolute legend!
One of the things I love about you and your channel is your passion, excitement and information. Once again, you've introduced me to something that immediately goes on my playlist. Thanks for all you do, brother.
How did I not learn this was a thing until today!?!?!!? Jesper and Mikael are my favorite and the Gothenburg sound is what got me into metal back in the day
I've watched this clip of yours at least half a dozen times, due to the most genuine "kid in a toy store" reaction of all reactions ever made. Just makes me happy. Pure and honest joy cannot be faked.
absolutely loved this entire video, especially when you started to headbang like nothing else mattered :'D super genuine feelings coming from you which was a delight to share. super stoked for the halo effect and whatever they may bring to the table!
I live about 40 minutes away from Gothenburg. Growing up in the Swedish metal scene was fantastic. Both melodic death metal and black metal. And also Meshuggah! This brought a smile on my face. Nostalgia deluxe. Great review as always bud! ❤️
I was crying as well when I heard it first. These guys were sooooo important in my late teens/early twenties, and all that was just coming back while I was listening to the song.
Honestly, we share the same sentiment. I literally found this band yesterday and they completely made my day! Seeing these legends together just about brought me to tears too! Haha my wife looked at me weird…
I absolutely love your reaction because u were so excited and into it..I was exactly the same man..inflames is one of my all time favourite bands..love ur channel man keep it up ur awesome
Tank, i feel so much what you feel. The old music of In Flames, the Jesper periog, was my entire life. This rythm section, Daniel and Peter is very special. Wonderful duo. I also remember the GOTHIC EXPLORER of jesper. If i am not wrong, it was a Gibson explorer with EMG 81/60 pickups. This duo of pickups is also legendary :D
I was never a fan of these two bands, but it is a pleasure to see a man or woman listen, headbanging and a lil'bit crying😉 to the heros of his/her youth!👍🏿 ONLY MUSIC make this happen! One thing more when i saw the lead vocalist i thought..."hmm wait a minute 🤔 you know that face.....YEAH the voice of Hammerfall's early years!💡💡💡 So thanks for the info and LET'S GOOOO !!🇺🇲🤘🏿🇩🇪
Last night i had the opportunity and luck to watch live The Halo Effect in Stockholm and hang out with the band after the show. DO NOT MISS it if you have the chance, that was the best thing that happened to me after the birth of my son, it was a life changer, no words to describe the guys, they are so friendly, polite and humble
Your reaction summed up my feelings perfectly. I got very emotional watching this video for the first time. If you weren't there, if you weren't a fan back in the day, you may not realize how big of a deal this is. Seeing these five guys together is so unbelievably heartwarming.
Me and my cousin where heavy in to In Flames when growing up. driving to school in the middle of winter here in Norway. Not one day with out In Flames on full blast. Looking forward to every album release for years! So happy that they made this happen, can't wait for an album!
When I want to get excited and just feel good I re-watch your reaction because it always and I mean always brings a smile to my face. I was also this excited when I first heard of this band as a long time In Flames fan myself.
Thats an extremely nice Jesterhead you have there, I also have Jesterhead on my right arm, with one of the best quotes from an In Flames song ever, "If you just let me, I'll find a way", under it. And yes, this is a huge thing. The excitement that you show, I was just as excited when I saw the news on Facebook while at work. This is amazing. Also, with Mikael, he was originally playing Guitar in Dark Tranquillity, so he was also on their first release, just switched position when Anders went to In Flames.
None of my friends where I live listen to metal, so it's great to have video like this to see someone else excited (and for me to learn a few things too)!
What the F&$^#?! Why the f^&$#?!?! How the F$^&*#% did I miss this release ?! Holy shit, I have tears in my eyes. YEEESSSS. This is gold. So good to see Jesper, Peter and Daniel again.
This is just awesome. I have been waiting for something like this for years. Í have been an IF and DT fan since 1997. Sadly lost interest in IF after Come Clarity. But this makes me so happy. Getting tickets for the Stockholm show is an absolute must. GBG Melodeath at its finest!
I believe this came up in my suggestions and it is fucking KILLER!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song so much I have it on repeat like 10 times a day. Amazing lick and riffing. Amazing drums, bass and vocals. And now that you told me that they are going on tour with 2 amazing bands, my day can't get any better. I am soooo siked! Let's hope that the C virus restrictions are done by then. Thnx for the reaction, I pretty much had the same reaction as you haha! Cheers from The Netherlands! Greetz, Imke.
I'm late to the party, knew nothing about this until about 7 hours prior to me writing this. I have a Google Home speaker with a screen I listen to music on while I'm at work, so its not unusual for me to discover new stuff I really dig... This was different. The moment I heard the vocals, I thought "why does this sound like the vocalist from Dark Tranquility" so I began digging into the history of the project before even finishing the song. I didn't even grow up around melodic death metal, only discovered it a little over 10 years ago now, but it remains my favorite genre that exists through countless discoveries later. This makes me ecstatic beyond words - I was already planning on flying to Europe for the Parkway Drive/While She Sleeps show, and then I saw they were playing with Amon Amarth/Machine Head right at the same time... My excitement has never been higher. 2022, LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I was deployed when I first got wind of this band, and I didn't have the means to look into it. I was loosing my mind trying to get info and hear the singles. Your reaction is pretty spot on. This group has some crazy potential to really reinvigorate that sound we've all been missing.
Having grown up close to Gothenburg, I used to watch all those bands in like high school gymnasiums and small pubs. Hearing this band for the first time was such a mix of excitment, and nostalgia.
As someone who grew up in the cold north and blasting In Flames aswell as Dark Tranquility while walking through dark and frozen woods, this gives me nostalgia like you wouldn't even fucking believe. It's like I'm 13 years old all over again, I fucking love it!
My early teenage years in the 90s was In Flames, Dark Tranquility, and At The Gates... I shed tears watching the video the first time. These guys have been with me in some form or fashion for the past 30 years!! This was incredible!
Got to see them perform 3 weeks ago and they are so underrated. Those who know though, know these are going to blow up! Such nice guys too and Daniel and Peter make great beer. Gateways is awesome! 🤘🏻
Ah, awesome reactions from you. And an awesome music-clip, of course. Love the sound, love mikaels voice. For me, he is one of the best melodic death vocalists. Excited for a hole album!
"You probably understand...like...you get it!" Ooooh yes, I get it. This is like a dream coming true. This special style one thought long forgotten resurface decades later, grabs you in the inner core and directly sparks that urge to headbang. 100% resonating with me. Btw... this was the fastest "throw that hat into a corner and let that hair fly" I have seen so far from you. Note to self: I should brobably grow a beard.
This song is a fucking banger. So pumped to hear more from them. The Gothenburg stuff (and melodeath in general) was what got me into heavier metal in high school. Bands like In Flames, At The Gates, Soilwork, Amon Amarth, etc. And I haven't really been a fan of more recent In Flames stuff. This was a treat.
As a fellow melodeath fan growing up in Sweden listening to In Flames, At the Gates, Soilwork, Dark Tranquillity and Amon Amarth to name a few this brings me so much joy.
It's been quite a few years since I was this excited about new music. Last time that comes to mind was when The Crown came back from the dead and released Doomsday King and/or when At the Gates went from just doing reunion shows and released At War with Reality.
This is a proper smörgåsbord if I've ever seen one. All of my childhood heroes playing together in the genre that got me into metal for real. A lot of tears of pure joy have been shed over the last couple of weeks.
Your reactions are so authentic, love it. If I were ever to explain to someone how I feel towards music, especially melo-death I'll point them in the direction of one of your videos.
I didn't cry on my wedding, I didn't cry when I held my kids for the first time, but I had to wipe away some tears on this one. The sound is all I wanted from music over the last 10-20 years.
I feel you.
This........definatly this !!!!
NEW SONG IS EVEN BETTER
Honestly? One of my first reactions was "What took them so long?..."
same fucking shit to me, it's like they fulfilled my desires
*badass metal riff starts*
Tank's hat: *trembling in fear*
Hahah - best comment!
This was made for melodeath fans, it's like a melodic death metal candy.
So good.
It is. And it's been so long since I've heard fresh good material in this genre -- yet here it is. A loveletter to the best days of melodeath.
More please
Your crying, I'm crying, we are all crying of happiness and euphoria. Keep Up The Good Work
nice to see you so exited
Mikael Stanne is easily my favorite vocalist, so stoked that these guys are working together
When I recognized the lead singer of Dark Tranquily and the guitarist of In Flames I thought: This is going to be awesome, and it really is.
You and I definitely share experiences when it comes to these guys. I also got heavily into Melodic Death Metal in my early High School years through bands like In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork, At The Gates and Arch Enemy, and these bands shepherded me into the music I love today. I made the same journey.
Same, man! Without these two bands, and a few others, I would have never discovered Children of Bodom and a lot of other awesome bands from Europe that I got into.
Same here mate, and as a Finn, it wasnt so difficult :D
I'm in the same boat aswell, the fact this is a thing just makes me so happy. mid to late 90's melodeath is the shit! Easily some of the best metal in that era!
hey dude, check out the new Coldbound album when it comes out. Features ex Ensiferum keyboardist Meiju Enho on analog synths
I love this album and Gateways is probably my fav song on it.
love the fact that soilwork is playing in the background
This was the best surprise/news of this whole f... Year, no competition. And you've perfectly expressed what i'm and a lot of other humans, who are into melodeath, are feeling when listening to this tack. Cheers
Dude your happiness in this video in infectious. So good👌🏼
This brought a tear to my eye. Words can’t express how hyped I am to hear more
The fact you not only react to the Schtuff but also provide background information on the band/members is great! Subscribed!
This brought me back to my late teens and early 20's hearing this. This sounds great and I can not wait to hear more of this! 🤘🤘
This is sooo good! The Gothenburg bands has been in my life since my teenage years, i'm 37 now. Specially Dark Tanquillity that has a special place in my heart. You're right, this is kind of emotional indeed. Awesome channel Tank! Cheers from Sweden.

I have been w8ing for days to see your face/emotion on this video... the song is on repeat since release... absolute top old school melo-death banger!
Your initial reaction is literally exactly how I reacted to seeing this the first time. As a huge IF fan (tattoos and all) this makes me so happy. Brings back so many memories of every time I got the pleasure of meeting all of these guys!

Jajemen legenden ä en sjuhelvetes riffmaskin. Måste ha spelat mycket guitar hero.
Same here. Guy made the Melodic In Flames sound I love so much. I think the guy still struggles with Alcohol, but hopefully he can get out of it
I am with you on all of this. I teared up the first time I listened to it and thought finally!
So good to see someone sharing my excitement dude! This is fucking epic.
I love your sincere and excited reaction mate! I had the very same reaction haha. When I saw the band members walk in I got insane goosebumps!

God damn , had the album on repeat since it dropped, but this reaction still get's me as pumped up as when I first watched it. Love it.
Here because Peter shared your Video on FB. Great to see other guys have the same emotions i felt :D
I honestly feel so honored that he shared that. Super cool moment! Thanks for checking it out!

I remember seeing In Flames live in 2004. This is the members I remember and miss. It's awesome to see them together again.
Almost had an identical reaction as you growing up in the early 00s with all the Gothenburg bands. Both new IF and HE both kick ass.

Also, huge thumbs up for playing Soilwork as background music! :D
Me and my cousin where heavy in to In Flames when growing up. driving to school in the middle of winter here in Norway. Not one day with out In Flames on full blast.
Looking forward to every album release for years!
So happy that they made this happen, can't wait for an album!
I mean, the fact that you live in Norway is badass enough, let alone listening to In Flames in the Norwegian winter. 🤘🏼Cheers from the UK
Miss thoose old Members in In Flames... but love that they keep going with playing music😍👌
When I want to get excited and just feel good I re-watch your reaction because it always and I mean always brings a smile to my face. I was also this excited when I first heard of this band as a long time In Flames fan myself.
Again
love this reaction! just seen them live at sweden rock festival. and it was mindblowing!
I don't think we've ever seen Tank throw away his hat with so much force and enthusiasm. :D
Love this video, love the music!
Caught them last week at Sweden Rock Festival. Totally blew my mind. Amazing!!!
Thats an extremely nice Jesterhead you have there, I also have Jesterhead on my right arm, with one of the best quotes from an In Flames song ever, "If you just let me, I'll find a way", under it. YEEESSSS. This is gold. So good to see Jesper, Peter and Daniel again.
The first time I've seen you was this reaction a month or so ago. I love the enthusiasm
This is just awesome. I have been waiting for something like this for years. Í have been an IF and DT fan since 1997. Sadly lost interest in IF after Come Clarity. But this makes me so happy. Getting tickets for the Stockholm show is an absolute must. GBG Melodeath at its finest!
Just seeing you geek out in the beginning of the video was so fun!

I am just happy that Jesper is back... 😍 he is my hero, and a major inspiration on my guitar playing. 😊
Happy to see you happy Tank, these guys are fire
I'm late to the party, knew nothing about this until about 7 hours prior to me writing this.

Well, considering that also Stanne has been part of In Flames...it all makes sense!
I was deployed when I first got wind of this band, and I didn't have the means to look into it. I was loosing my mind trying to get info and hear the singles. Your reaction is pretty spot on. This group has some crazy potential to really reinvigorate that sound we've all been missing.
Holy crap! Thank you for an introduction to this band, the members, and their other projects. I have many albums to go listen to 🤘
Lucky you! Both In Flames and Dark Tranquillity have a rich history of work. :)
Tanks reactions are awesome. Such a genuine guy, man . 🤘 keep banging bro, I love your channel and content🤘.

Ah, awesome reactions from you.
And an awesome music-clip, of course.
Love the sound, love mikaels voice.
For me, he is one of the best melodic death vocalists.
Excited for a hole album!
I was bit nervous how this will turn out but first taste is a real banger, best songs of the year.
Well, thanks for bringing up that melodeath nostalgia, now I'm gonna be stuck in Whoracle-Mind's I loop for a week at least. Yay.
Holy crap! I immediatly bought a ticket to the AA/MH/The halo effect-konsert in Stockholm next year. CAN'T WAIT. DAMN!
"You probably understand...like...you get it!" Ooooh yes, I get it. This is like a dream coming true. This special style one thought long forgotten resurface decades later, grabs you in the inner core and directly sparks that urge to headbang. 100% resonating with me.

jusat coming back here after seeing them live with machine head and amon amarth in helsinki! old in flames is back with these guys
I feel you dude. I discovered inflames and Dark tranquility in my 20's. This is like a metal-gasm :D.
Thanks a ton, man!
Ive been an In Flames band since 97. Love all their stages, even today. So, this is just perfect for me! Im glad Jesper getting fixed!
