    FSD 12.3 is incredible!! We've had our Model 3 four years now and over 60K miles. We've had all major car brands from US, Germany, and Japan and nothing comes close to our Tesla M3 and Model Y... Zero maintenance, easy long distance travel, low fuel cost, and best of all is FSD which has saved our lives a few times. Amazing! Safest car on the planet. If you care about your life, or your family's life, buy a Tesla. Statistics says so. Don't listen to the media....

      FSD or not Tesla cars have accident avoidance.
      We were turning into our subdivision when an idiot on a bicycle wasn't looking up and was about to fly into the side of our car. My foot was halfway to the brake pedal when the car stopped. He looked up at the last second yelling " holy shit" and then flying in front greatly relieved. We were in no physical danger but he would have put a dent into our new car.
      We also had a semi truck back into our Y while it was parked. Sentry mode alerted my wife and she was able to catch the driver before he took off.
      We used to love Toyota's for their gas and go reliability. Our Tesla makes a Toyota look like junk. 😁
      $7 of electricity gets us 300+ miles and I level 2 charge for free next to my work. Once you go EV there's no other way. 😄

    I'm 72 and have subscribed to FSD three times since 2022. And when folks asked my opinion I said "It's like a 15-year-old with a learner permit" or "It's like a 90-year-old little old lady". But with V12 even in CHILL mode, the acceleration is more aggressive than how I drive so I wish I could turn that down a bit. And it HOLD's speed approaching a stop longer than I do. But it's brilliant and I would TRUST it implicitly. I have a 2022 Y with HW3. I have a 2K mile road trip coming up in May and will subscribe for that trip.

    Saturday I received a software update for my Model Y 2023. I scheduled it for overnight as it seemed to be just some minor changes. I turned the car back on Sunday afternoon because I needed to go to the store and got a great surprise: FSD v12 was made available for testing. I set it to navigate to the local recycling center and then to a location in Fredericksburg 22 miles away. Wow! It had a little hesitation finding its way through our neighborhood which is a series of unmarked, narrow private roads with speed bumps. Once on the public roads it was in its element. Smooth acceleration and deceleration, it changed lanes for turns, decelerated and made turns like I would do it. It drove me to both destinations without intervention except at the stop at the recycling center which is completely unmarked! It heeds stop lights and signs, speed limit signs that I never even noticed before and adjust for speed bumps and changes in road levels. It is incredible! I’ll be buying more stock and will be buying the FSD for permanent use.

  • @baldbikeboy
    @baldbikeboy หลายเดือนก่อน +65

    I bought FSD primarily for road trips, because I’m unwilling to give up the joy of driving “Scoot” in town. That said, I’ve experimented with the various versions, just for kicks. V12.3.1 is different, and is fun to “supervise.” That has changed my purpose from curiosity about its behavior, to “shareholder responsibility” for providing data to Tesla. That was a surprise.

    • @richardalexander5758
      @richardalexander5758 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A very valuable set of data, and just what I had envisioned when using early versions of FSD. Skilled experienced drivers can/will provide much needed input regarding emergency reactions over time, as well as little stuff that minimizes mechanical wear, and makes the drive more comfortable. Looking forward to contributing.

    • @SmokinPaul
      @SmokinPaul หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      We've taken many long cross country trips in our Y. Driving long distances just supervising takes all the stress and mental drain away. Not only is it easier you can pay much more attention to the road and traffic around you. We arrive feeling rested and relaxed instead of tired and mentally drained.
      We also have a foldable mattress and privacy curtains that easily fits in the rear sub trunk. On the way to and from our destination we sleep in the car (camper mode). We used to use Planet Fitness for a morning workout and shower but now that they've gone woke we'll have to figure something else out.
      It's easy, it's fun, it saves money and it's the safest car on the road. Oh and the seats are the most comfortable I've ever experienced. ❤️

    Just took my first drive with my trial version of FSD. I was blown away! It did a couple of weird things though and I had to intervene a couple of times.
    Leaving the parking lot this morning, instead of doing a simple right, left to leave the parking lot, it turned left and drove completely around the back of the building, then exited via the entrance. It had me laughing my ass off! Perfectly safe, but a weird routing. Then I had to take over when there was a bright orange crate with what looked like 4 2-liter bottles in it that presumably fell off a delivery truck, sitting in the middle of the road and my car was not going to stop or avoid it. A few miles later, it was going to blow past by exit, which was the most head scratching error of the drive. It then was going to blow past my driveway, but that wasn't a surprise as the county 911 system obviously assigned me the wrong address when I built my house so the car was headed down the street a couple of houses, which would actually be the correct place my house should have been.
    One of the things I liked best is that it didn't wait until the last second and slam on the brakes when coming up on traffic like Autopilot does.
    Overall very pleased and looking forward to trying it out extensively this month

    Door being left open problem is easily solvable: Charging for the ride doesn't end until passenger exits, _and closes all doors_! Won't take too many $100+ charges for passengers to learn to be vigilant about their ride ending protocol.

    IThanks Gentlemen,
    I am currently driving with V12.3 (no second dot). Still has significant issues:
    - On rare occasions runs red lights.
    - Speeds in active school zones.
    - Speeds (40 MPH) on entering my residential neighborhood (25 MPH).
    - Occasional abrupt hesitations while making turns (esp. while turning onto/across 4+ lane roads).
    - Unable to correctly navigate 6 month old navigation-unmapped traffic circle (drives in circles and/or exits at incorrect exit 180,540 vs correct 270 degrees).
    - Unable to backup.
    James,
    - The biggest current issue with HW3 is the cameras and their locations.
    - The issue with FSD is: Will FSD need a supervisor AI to address edge cases and the issues like those noted above and, if so, can that NEW AI run on HW3 or HW4 or will it require a new silicon architecture (memory, compute, Groq-like architecture, multivalued logic, etc.)?
    - There is still one main use for and reason to maintain and advance Tesla's heuristics. The heuristics tree is an excellent way to classify edge case solutions and to plan and maintain training datasets (with human participation).
    - Data compression is critical to real world data processing. It reduces costs, speeds up data transfer, reduces storage and temporary fetch memory requirements, reduces energy use,, and is probably an optimal method for generating synthetic real world datasets to train FSD updates on use emergent edge cases. Saving data in 4D datasets (fixed 3D world model plus egos in 4D) rather than video clips from multiple cameras provides this.
    - It may be possible to pretrain FSD on regenerated/generated 4D data and bypass the entire process of rendering multiple camera feeds from compressed data only to regenerate the real-world in 4D and further reduce training cycle duration.
    Thanks again for expanding the list of use cases for FSD robotaxi well beyond a mini-robotaxi.
    I would still like to see a review of our insights into Tesla's training system (V2.0). FSD is nice but the real wonder is in the AI system being used to build, train, and validate FSD. That is where real-world AGI is likely to arise.
    One last question: Did Groq kill the current Dojo architecture? Groq-like architecture seems to offer a potential for more efficient matrix processing and better parallel data transfer onto and off of the chips. Much of FSD consists of parallel data transfers and parallel matrix operations that flow down a long chains within FSD.

    I'm currently on 12.3.1 up from v11. Its a huge upgrade. I still get some disengagements. But its a heck of allot better than before. And yes I do agree that the car needs to do a better job at planning ahead as that right their would eliminate 90% of the disengagements I have to do.

    Have had FSD 12.3.4 for a few days now. The leap in improvement is huge. But it still has more work to go. Probably the biggest and best improvement is in the behavior, it feels much more human like. There are quirks - it hugs to far inside on tight curves, it has missed turns that were clearly on the nav map, it becomes indecisive on lanes in cases of approaching two or more left turn lanes.
