Thanks bud,it really isnt easy to do. But with your tips and practice I must say I slowly get the hang of it.I always enjoy watching your vids and it is a pleasure seeing a pro having fun at his job.
watching your videos on dipping, spray gun selection, spray gun settings and hydrofilm differentiation helped me set my gun/activator to my hydrofilm. Thanks Brian (I used a 1.5g at 44+psi, cheap gun at 1.4 midsize fan spray. got a 8g,5cfm 150psi doing larger truck parts. Thanks brian.
Always valuable content guy's.. keep up the great work and awesome products..✌️.. I definitely felt the over/ under activation was the biggest hurdle when I was starting out years ago.. and I'm not going to lie it still happens sometimes..🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi, I'm dumb, I mean new to this. I'm looking for the bear metal look & I was wondering if a clear adhesion promoter would work instead of paint for transparent graphics designs.
@@abeljames2775 i just removed the center bolt and a few other screws. I sanded and painted it and dipped it then cleared it. It covered all the way around. It still looks really good
Can you hydro dip pieces of rubber? And if so,what's the process.I tried to do these little pieces of rubber covers to test it. And upon washing off the goo it came right off from me rubbing.I didnt do the reg steps(priming, sanding ,applying a promoter,) wanted to see if it was possible. Thanx and love your content.
I want to dip my goalie mask but i dont want the dip the whole thing. If i tape a portion of the mask off do i pull the tape immediately after the dip or do i pull the tape when it is completely dried and ready for clear? Great video BTW!
Sooo I have a quick question, I recently spray painted some Oakley frames and wasn’t too happy with the result. If I primed, spray painted and clear coated the frames could I jump right into the dipping process or would I have to re-prime and start from there?
I just dipped a small gun part. Had cleaned it, scuffed it and primed it 2 days ago. My test was good but when I dipped the part, it looked great when I pulled it out of the water but when I rinsed it off, not only did the pattern come off, the primer did too. The part had a camo pattern but I cleaned it and scuff it and thought priming it would be ok.... do you know where I went wrong? I don't want to dip the rest of the parts til I find out why this happened. I'm new at this but I've done several pieces and this is the first time this happened.
The black & white speed shapes are ready to dip. These speed shapes are made of a durable ABS plastic resin for strength and also adds a great benefit that you can actually dip directly to these with no paint or primer needed. Hope this helps.
Watching these video's helps, but I keep going from under to over activation. I think maybe I need to change spray guns out. How big should the tip be for a spray gun for just using activator? I managed to get everything else right, I've been taping all four sides of the film and its been working, I've been getting the spraying for primer and paint down correctly, I can even do rolling dips on firearm stocks just fine. My issue is that I've been having severe issues with activator. I've tried the activator cans but the same thing happens. I've never gotten it "just right". It either ends up under activated with jagged holes in the pattern, or it looks super faded with parts of it sliding off and having smooth pin holes in it. Thanks for the content though, it helped me set everything up and do all the other stuff right, just not the activation part. I just keep messing it up.
You can use cold or luke warm water. The cooler the water the longer it will take to rinse but we do not recommend using HOT water. Luke warm does perfectly well
I would be sure to start small! Get a few smaller items that you don't mind if it doesn't turn out the best. It just takes practice, practice, practice!
@@LiquidConceptsUSA Hi and thanks the online course "Online Video Training Course" for 199$, it is full knowledge, all detailed steps included? and is it enough to open that job based on that online course?
I just watched video by All Things Fun Hydrographics, and he said you dont have to tape it. And it shrinks back down. But i want to get it right so you think 2 tape strips is good?
Every film is going to be different and react differently. Normally you do not have to use tape but there are times that tape does make it easier to get the film in the water and contain the film if you do not have dams. Since we have a good divider system we normally only tape 2 sides on the difficult films.
I was gonna dip a rifle stock. Aplain black synthetic, cheap rifle stock, never plan on selling, wanted to dip it camo, now I’m not so sure. Sand, buff, polish, pearls... no. Have paint, primer, tub for appropriate temp water, and rinse area and the willingness to try. Also picked up a can of clear coat just in case. Felt fairly confident in the project until now. Oh well.
re mistake #2; Repaint the part. This would be a good time to mention what kind of paint to use - matt, gloss, base coat, etc - there must be paints that are very good and some that are unsuitable, and also to use a primer, normally etch.
Why would you tell people they have to completely repaint the whole part befor dipping? All you have to do is put a fresh clear coat on and then dip to use the original color paint job. You know that.
Man I like the videos, but I have a short attention span and you ramble on too much. that could have been a 5min video, or you could have added a little example video clips of the things your pointing out. you say prepping is the most important thing , how about a little prep before you make a video, like turn off the phone ringer, or maybe a little editing ..
Dude says dull side, then switches to shiny. Also did the sticky test twice because the first time did the opposite. I’m more confused for watching this. I don’t trust this guy, but who knows, maybe he was right more than 50% of the time?
There are activators out there that are not as good as others. I would recommend purchasing your products from a company that stands behind their products and offers support.

Just now getting into I really appreciate the fact that y’all are very thorough with step by step dipping videos are great keep em coming👍🏼
Do you have to primer plastic, exactly a rough textured cold air intake tube? Your video was so super helpful.
To Mr. Videographer,
just wanted to thank the camera man also for getting great shots and angles allowing us to see exactly what's happening.
Hello! Thanks for all the info. Just curious how long I have to wait for the primer to dry before moving on to next step?
what about just black plastic trims inside the car do you have to paint them ?
Just heard about this the other day, great video!
Thank You. Keep checking back, more in the works.
Did you replace your water for 2nd dip? or what strategies did you use to save water? thanks

Can i get the steps and a good tank size to hydro dip deer skulls before i go out buy the wrong tank ?
can you post a video on how to hydrodip steering wheels? maybe in some sort of a wood finish?
Is it possible to use your factory paint scuff and use a bd 500 clear basecoat to hold the ink ?
How do i avoid getting those dots that reveal the under paint?
Can you dip gun parts without painting first? Like a cerekoted handguard?

It's definitely technique and prep and it ain't easy 👍👍

how did you do your steering wheel? will the film stretch enough to cover the curves?

would you consider using a sand blaster instead of just sand paper?
Yes! We prefer a sand blaster over sand paper but for most it might not be feasible starting out! We use a sand blaster daily in our shop

How do you properly prep a metal object for dipping and base paint?
Was told the speed shapes are different and don’t need to be painted, however do the need to be scuffed?

Sand your clear b4 you dip,the scratched surface will allow for the film to stick

one question i have is how long after until clear coat, when it’s fully dry?
It's dry to give to the customer in 24 hours. It is fully cured in 60 - 90 days. Hope that helps.

Wich is the best way to rinse after dipping? Cold water..or hot water?
You can use cold or luke warm water. The cooler the water the longer it will take to rinse but we do not recommend using HOT water. Luke warm does perfectly well

Why do they spray on the up side of the film? Is it an adhesive or water?
Once the film is on the water we spray a hydrographic activator that liquifies the film

i’ve learned a lot through trial and error, just did my fourth dip and it came out way better than my first, but still far from perfection
Do u have to sand your stuff

nothing about water temperature ? :(
Water temperature is recommended at 80-90 degrees! This simply wasn't one of the top 5 mistakes we see made but definitely on our top 20 list :)
hes right its not easy first try i did came out good last 4 tries just sucked so what im saying is first try was beginners luck
