The great part about the attitude era both before and after the debut of smackdown was that it was an actual episodic show. You couldnt miss a week or you would be lost for a minute. Now you can not watch raw for 10 years and still have an idea of who the champion is.
This was the thing that got me really pumped up for AEW in the first 20 episodes or so, before they changed focus. Storytelling continuity and cliffhangers that actually got you invested in what and how things are gonna happen. Thing is that since Lucha Underground, nobody really pushed this formula again for real.

If I have to watch the TNA fantasy booking video 50 thousand times by myself then I will. When The Hawk squawks, other videos can take a walk, get hit with a brick, and outlined with chalk. There's more hours of easily accessible wrestling content than ever but very little variety with how much there is to watch, especially with AEW / ROH / TNA cross promoting. We are all going to have our likes and dislikes, but unfortunately people can't keep it to themselves. If these toxic fans are so adamant that AEW is king and any disagreement is both wrong and bad for the wrestling industry, then Ring of Honor wouldn't have went out of business. Twice. There's plenty of shows out there, why can't I have it all? Why can't we as fans have it all? Why can't I get a bunch of different shows to tickle my fancy when they need tickling? Why can't I get the nuttiness of Lucha Underground and WCW, the high spots of AEW, the hardcore blood and gore of CZW and ECW, the technical prowess of NXT 1.0 and NJPW, the character work of WWE, the grittiness of old school NWA? Honestly Marky, the reason I like your content is because you have such a different take on modern wrestling compared to everyone else. The IWC has this idea that wrestling has to appeal to the IWC and no one else. And as AEW has shown, it's a vocal crowd, but not exactly a large one. Hey MarkyD, longtime fan here. I doubt you remember me but Ive been with you since the old school early videos. Around 2019-ish. I used to comment more when I had more time and so forth, but work and life wore me down lol. Anyway My point is there are tons of people that dig your work and watch your videos without commenting. Don't worry so much about the fraction of your audience that complains about everything. I've been a wrestling fan for a long time, and it never really changes. People act like these new AEW fans are so toxic, but those mindsets and negative kind of comments have been around for ages. I recall getting hate way back when I gave a ROH show a 6/10. lol Also if you think that fanbase is bad, try being a Puroresu fan like me, the Puro fan scene is full of elitist snobs and edgelords.
I wonder when the Hawk is gonna scape Slapnuts. He show basically on 90% of the videos and since it's when you least expect it it gets funnier every time
Apparently a Hell in a Cell DQ is terrible in 2019 with Seth Rollins and The Fiend but the same thing is perfectly fine is okay in Attitude Era in 1998 with Kane and Mankind. Double standards are alive and well in the IWC
Kane and Mankind are legends. Bray Wyatt is a fat juggalo with 1 halfdecent match under his belt becausehe had Daniel Bryan to carry his overrated out of shape ass.
I'm too old to take pro wrestling seriously, especially the current product. Your channel is the only wrestling content I watch these days as its entertaining! Keep up the good work!
Dude here’s what I remember now. This was like a few months into me and my friends getting into wrestling. I remember Gangrel was new. Edge was still coming in from the crowd and we didn’t know who he was. My friends little brother hit edge in the head with a foam stone cold hand.
My Russo-comment was not meant to attack you. In fact it was the opposite, I quite like Russos booking and that he always had stories for anybody, not unlike you in your last vid. Sorry if there was a misunderstanding, I thought the video was great, as it's usual for a video by the Hawk
I agree with anyone saying you shouldn't talk about modern wrestling. You're in your element when you go back to wrestling's hey day. You calling Orange Trashidy v. Wardlow a good 'David v. Goliath' match was a bit embarrassing to hear.
For as crazy amd random wwf was back in the day it was way more must watch TV than it is now It's meant to be a sport where people fight and its more believable that there would be chaos

Not everything has to be Springer or BnB but not everything has to be Modern Family or Friends. Tough to find a balance
Especially when... A WILD SLAPNUTS APPEARED!...TWICE!
Funny lad. I actually sort of remember this episode as well from when it aired.
That was an awesome episode you did about tna
The fans shining laser lights on the wrestlers in the late 90's was very annoying
the only Raw i ever went to, amazing night...main thing I remember was a guy in the crowd laughing at the rock for shaving his legs
Ignore the haters Marky, I loved your last video!
Russo-Ferrara era WWF was amazing. I also really liked their first 3 months in WCW in late ‘99 before everyone started interfering and Russo left.
People never mention how good WCW was before people interfered
I used to despise Russo, but looking back on WCW his heart was in the right place wanting to push the young guys and gals, but he was sabotaged by the Hogans and all with creative control. Russo had wacky storyline but his heart was in the right place
Nah when Russo left the product got better
@@cjskylark6659 it really didn’t. Maybe the first year you could argue but by 2001-2002 it had noticeably declined.
@@cjskylark6659 no
this is amazing comparing to today's WWE stuff...
I always waiting for a wild slapnut appear with pokenut music
Hey MarkyD, longtime fan here. I doubt you remember me but Ive been with you since the old school early videos. Around 2019-ish. I used to comment more when I had more time and so forth, but work and life wore me down lol.
Anyway My point is there are tons of people that dig your work and watch your videos without commenting. Don't worry so much about the fraction of your audience that complains about everything.
I've been a wrestling fan for a long time, and it never really changes. People act like these new AEW fans are so toxic, but those mindsets and negative kind of comments have been around for ages. I recall getting hate way back when I gave a ROH show a 6/10. lol
Also if you think that fanbase is bad, try being a Puroresu fan like me, the Puro fan scene is full of elitist snobs and edgelords.
"Dont Piss me off" was a catchphrase that JJ was trying to make happen at that time marky.
Keep doing the fantasy booking, it was awesome!
RAW was decent on Monday. Even a wild Slapnuts appeared.
@KarypoSs "SHUV IT BOY"
Slapnuts 😂😂😂😂😂
“Then Kane emerges from the same casket- what?” I lost it.
This entire show was ridiculous
I noticed Gangrel’s exposed stomach. Was this the moment Vince lost all faith in him?
I remember watching this raw when I was 8, I loved it
That episode was better than any nitro episode between 1999-2001
I wonder when the Hawk is gonna scape Slapnuts. He show basically on 90% of the videos and since it's when you least expect it it gets funnier every time
found your last video well done, and loved it. personally i'd love for impact to step up there game.
8:42 OH GOD, FOLEY'S HEAD ON THAT SUICIDE DIVE
this ep is like 40x better than that wcw ep. not even anywhere close.
Apparently a Hell in a Cell DQ is terrible in 2019 with Seth Rollins and The Fiend but the same thing is perfectly fine is okay in Attitude Era in 1998 with Kane and Mankind. Double standards are alive and well in the IWC
Free TV vs a PPV.
That Monday episode was hilarious and entertaining
I love your vids on the new stuff
I would still watch the worst episode of the Attitude Era, Nitro or ECW then anything we got today.
People always shit on 2000 WCW, but it was miles better than todays garbage.
I get the crack that you're making at today's product but seriously WCW in the year 2000 was beyond sh*t and today's product is so much better.
@@marcespinoza6068 😂 😂 😂
@@marcespinoza6068 It really isnt though....
@@AntiLifeEquation1 bro, u need to eat smell, and touch grass ong
I love all of this. Shit was so wild.
Holy shit I was at this show and had forgotten about it. I was 18
Dude here’s what I remember now. This was like a few months into me and my friends getting into wrestling. I remember Gangrel was new. Edge was still coming in from the crowd and we didn’t know who he was. My friends little brother hit edge in the head with a foam stone cold hand.
One of the best shows
My Russo-comment was not meant to attack you. In fact it was the opposite, I quite like Russos booking and that he always had stories for anybody, not unlike you in your last vid. Sorry if there was a misunderstanding, I thought the video was great, as it's usual for a video by the Hawk
It’s okay. Everyone knows my views on Russo and I can praise aspects of his work.
@@Markyd123 Yeah, I should've thought of that. Sorry for that. And I really liked the idea of Eddie Slapnuts being a surfer dude :D
SO. MANY. LASER POINTERS.
anytime i see jeff jarrett now, i always think of the pokémon edit u do🤣🤣
I loved the save tna video, nothing in that video made me think of vince russo at all, and i would watch most of those storylines
I agree with anyone saying you shouldn't talk about modern wrestling. You're in your element when you go back to wrestling's hey day. You calling Orange Trashidy v. Wardlow a good 'David v. Goliath' match was a bit embarrassing to hear.
I enjoyed the booking show not everything can be cosplayers doing flippy shit
I also enjoyed the fantasy booking video and would enjoy more similar content.
The TNA booking video was so good hawk
I loved this and had to come back to make a comment. This is some DAMN! good entertainment
Those f**king laser pens where crazy popular among middle schoolers at that time. I have no clue why.
The Hawk!!!
If the shov it squad doesnt like your fantasy booking they can eat a brick. I loved it
i vaguely remember this. It was so bizare for sure.
I loved your show Hawk
Honestly The Rock and Chyna segment was the only really bad part. But the rest wasn't good either... it was just mediocre for that time.
For as crazy amd random wwf was back in the day it was way more must watch TV than it is now
It's meant to be a sport where people fight and its more believable that there would be chaos
Vince: "THOSE DMCA STRIKES WERE ME, MARKYD! IT WAS ME, ALL ALONG!!!!
YOU ALL BOUGHT IT!!!! YOU ALL BOUGHT IT!!!"
I remember record Summerslam 98 on My vhs tape. Good times!
Before I watch this I know this is one of the greatest raw ever so what is this dude smoking suggesting this one.
Bro keep making your videos the way you want! It’s your video & if nobody likes it then they can kick rocks
12:56 is satisfying AF
