Kerwin White *could* have been interesting. Comes off as a man who has internalised so much negative stereotyping about his ethnicity & culture that he rejects it completely. Long term you'd look to have him reconnect with and fully embrace his cultural heritage. Maybe some funny angles with Eddie trying to 'deprogram' him, 'forcing' him to consume Latino food & media.

It's interesting seeing how things would transpire post Kerwin White. Chavo would have a few more matches with Shelton on Raw, but by then he was Chavo again and Shelton was a heel so the roles were reversed. One of those matches was when Chavo "retired" after he lost an IC title match. In addition to that, Chavo and Dolph would reunite at one point in 2011 as a tag team of sorts back when Dolph was closely associated with Vickie Guerrero. And I remember they alluded to their past teaming when Chavo was Kerwin White on at least one episode of WWE Superstars.

    question?
what is your opinion on if a tall wrestler like Dijak or Big Bill uses a Samoan Drop they're not fat or Samoan but its a guy about 7 ft doing it?

I’m not Hispanic but I am mixed: half black half white. I loved this gimmick because it’s something I’ve seen a million times, not that there’s anything wrong with that. It’s America. But I appreciate what they were trying to parody and I still find the humor in it today even though there is a less than zero percent chance this shit would ever fly today even if it was meant to be ironic.

Shelton Benjamin is probably the most underutilized wrestler in wwe history. Cornette said he was the best wrestler out of that ovw class with cena, Batista, Lesnar and Orton. Can’t believe they released him again.

Everyone of these YWC pages are loaded w content where theyre essentially just taking every comedy angle in the history of pro wrestling and bashing it as a way of performatively presenting themselves as knowledgable smarks…
Most of the things that these channels bash ie. Russo’s work, Vince’s comedy angles etc. were great in the moment they existed in and trying to diminish these moments is the antithesis of what pro wrestling is all about.

I’m split. This is like a Golddust/Butch situation where it erases the old pure wrestler part but in return you get actual personality. Knowing Chavo’s booking, maybe Kerwin White was right.

Only reason I didn't care for the gimmick is cuz Chavo was the type who didn't NEED it. His work 2-3 years before was just fine as Eddie's tag team partner and as Eddie's rival. Was able to work AND talk and most cruiserweights can ONLY work.
Now if it was current day and we're talking about Dom Mysterio, he would be PERFECT for the role. Cuz I am NOT buying Dom being Konnan 2.0, even if it IS Rey's idea (and it is, trust me).

  • @ajnboilerup

The point to the Kerwin White gimmick was that no one should get rid of their heritage. The gimmick told a story. You were SUPPOSED to hate Kerwin White and wish for Chavo Guerrero to be himself. White is a heel gimmick. White wasn't as good as Chavo. It would of played out more to show more of that story, but was of course cut short because of Eddie's death. Then he went back to Chavo Guerrero.
