Thank you so much for this really informative comparison. I already have the Mystical Shaman deck which i purchased recently and am awaiting the Shamanic Medicine deck. I love a lot of Yuri Leitch's artwork and only realised he had done the Medicine deck after ordering! Your reviews on both decks resonates and your use of both in ancestor readings is a wonderful way to bring over their mystical gifts in a practical way, and that you dont much use the guidebooks at all, has inspired me to work more fully with my cards in future! More cards in Mystical Shaman, but it sounds like the Shamanic Medicine guidebook is better. In concept and art style, they are very similar. Tough call. I'll bet a lot of people get both. :)
Thanks! I love your detailed explanations. Both decks are amazing, I feel almost an energy of ayahuasca/Peru type energy with the mystical deck, and a Navajo/peyote type energy with the medicine oracle. Love it!

Thanks for the comparison. The deck has been sitting on my shelf unopened for a while. Perhaps I'll just toss the box and book in the trash. Jena did a magnificent job of bringing the deck to life. IMHO, that's where true essence and beauty of this deck lies.
I'm glad it helped, I'm the exact same way, nothing against authors and creators, but oracle decks for me are often make it or break it based on the art and this art is just gorgeous and I think anyone with a basic understanding of these energies can use them minus the books.
I like the Medicine cards. The Shaman's Dream oracke is much better, visually, than Mystical Shaman. The images are brighter, and there's a key word. The stock's thinner, though.

I had wanted to buy the Mystical Shaman as a gift for my partner for Father's Day and have found that it is currently sold out at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Ebay. I do believe the publishers site still had some. This tells me it is a popular choice. And for me I think the artwork speaks more to me and will for him. I am actually planning on getting us each a deck after your review.

I'd also love to see an overview of all the shamanic decks and why you'd want one over the other (oh, fine, or why I want them ALL) -- like these and John Matthews Shamanic Oracle and Michelle Matousek's Shamanic Healing Oracle, and the Celtic Shaman, and there's one or two others.
It’s so strange that the CBR deck doesn’t have direction cards... I’m still hoping to find a deck that works with the correspondences I’m familiar with but no luck yet, which is also a surprise to me as I thought they were quite common. Anyway beautiful decks, thanks
Yes, I think you are totally right, I seem to remember that from somewhere else. I think the Barbara MJF deck has the elements linked to the directions though. Id have to listen to the videos again to remember if the CBR deck has elements I could put where I want - if so great, I love the illustrations!

I have the wisdom of oracle and goddess power from CBR.. I find her writing more of analogies than the actual information about the cards!!

I bought the shamanic medicine cards as I thought they were more down to earth.they are just so beautiful to use.

The CBR Mystical Shaman DOES have the elemental cards that you could put in the directions you associate them with, very good point @The Bards Lament!
