    I'm probably late, but when positive seals get destroyed like that it was caused by not enough valve spring retainer to guide clearance. The retainer actually beat the crap out of the seals. Hopefully you can check it in the new build. Good luck!

    Enjoying your videos! I have a 94, 99 and 2001 Trans am selling the 94 and building the other 2 one for car show and running street the other for some street but mostly track. Im tuning in for sure!

    • @LegitStreetCars
      @LegitStreetCars  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much Mark. Having one show and one track is a very smart idea. I tried to do both with my car and it never works. The track beats the car up.
      Filming putting the engine back together as we speak. Will have a cool time lapse and update video soon.

    For the future vids, I would love to see more reviews of Mercedes Benz's (like the R and E- class one, maybe get your hands on a W220 S55 AMG). I'm amazed this channel hasn't got more followers, I'm gonna make sure I spread a good word about it :)

      SuperBeatSer Thanks so much. That means a lot. Yes I have plans for many reviews like those two. I actually started writing for an online auto magazine and that's taking some of my time right now. Check me out @ alt_driver. They are on face book and online

    For those who don't have a lift you can get that motor out the top easy with the engine mount for the LS from Jegs that has the 6 holes in it. I took the water pump and power steering off but I think it would have cleared with them on. Manifords stayed on as well and didn't even discharge the A/C.. Coils also did not have to be removed.. Best $60 bucks I've ever spent...Just take the fans and radiator out and you are home free...

    Seen the decomposed valve seals,are you the oil itself is not the root cause ?

    Damn, all of that because of a freaking lifter. Those valve seals could have been damaged when they were installed. OR, if the lifters were going away and the valves were floating they may have damaged the seals.

  • @WillyjamesM
    @WillyjamesM 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Seems like ls7 lifters have this issue. I read that Morel lifters are a good alternative.

    • @LegitStreetCars

      That's what I ended up buying. Going to really pay attention to preload and measure with a dial indicator to get it perfect

    which turbo kit do you have or is it something custom you built?

    • @LegitStreetCars
      @LegitStreetCars  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was originally a Kentucky turbo kit but that was like 7 years ago. I have redone most of it myself at this point.

    Sub'd I love watching home grown builds and not reality tv show unrealistic crap. Just wondering are you using a LQ9 block for your build ? I still have a new in create LQ9 block that i got 8 yrs or so ago (Before I got married) from jegs. Just haven't found a car that I can shove it in (in built form ofcourse - 402" variety). Suggestions ?

    You have a $2,000.00+ lift, but can't buy a $150.00 fold up cherry picker...??

      fun fun priorities

    • @LegitStreetCars
      @LegitStreetCars  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha yep just didn't have the the $150. No I kid. Honestly I have needed a cherry picker once in 5 years and just don't want to store it. The garage isn't really all that big and even folded up its just not worth it to me.
