    NOTE- for those that has never took off the panel before & for those who’s actually have a panel that No one has touched before… The Pull Lever Handle that has the 2 Screws STAYS WITH THE PANEL….
    For similar situations like Dans car, someone touched his panel before and ripped off that Pull Lever Handle, which is riveted into the panel itself.
    Hope that makes sense.

      I'm also working on my 94 S&S hearse. My problem is that the outside door handle won't open the door. I'm hoping to take the door panel off and figure out why the handle won't work. After watching your video, I think I'll go ahead and replace both those clips while it's off. Either of you guys ever run into the door handle issue?

    • @thecadillacdanshow8658
      @thecadillacdanshow8658  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably the rod that goes from the handle to the latch came off they usually have plastic retainers that will break

    Great description of the process as, yes, those plastic clips inevitably become brittle and break. Squeezing the window into the new clips is the worst part as it is nerve-wracking considering you are close to the glass, so the right set of channel lock pliers (size and angle of the pinchers) can be really helpful. The only thing I would add is, after the window is fixed, to check the seals around the window frame. Before fixing, the window likes to fall into the door at an awkward angle and, upon trying to close the window in this condition, it will often bend, fold, and/or pinch those seals in a way it would not do normally. Once the window is fixed, I would recommend restoring any seals that are deformed back the way they were starting with the window fully lowered. As the rubber will have some "memory" of its deformed position if it was deformed for a long period of time, it helps to hold the seal in what was its original position and then slowly raise the window into the seal, doing this every few inches if necessary, until the window is back in the seal properly. After doing this, keep the window up for a while so the rubber "memory" can go back to the way it originally was and thus the window won't pinch the seal anymore as it goes fully down and then fully up in the future.

And now that you mentioned it I don't think the lights in my mirror works so now is a good time to change them out

    What is the symptom that this repair fixes? I have a 96 and both front windows need a little manual assistance to go down straight and usually get stuck after a certain point because they’re tilted. Will this solve that?

I have had also another 94 before this one , and also a 95 and i have a 96 that i have as a parts car . the 96 still runs but the frame is too rotten , and the brakes have gone on it also , so its just parts for my 94 i currently drive . if you have any idea how to fix the door locks , so that they lock when the car goes into gear , i'd like to know . I was actually just thinking about that today out of all 7 of the Fleetwoods I have owned so far none of them locked when putting in gear (wich I personally like but it's not right) I belive it has to do with something on the steering column maybe tied into the neutral safety switch providing your locks do work by the door switch

    How do you fix the shift indicator pointer?

    • @DavidPysnik
      @DavidPysnik 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cadillac Dan actually has a video showing how to remove the instrument cluster and in that video he shows the mechanism that controls this. Basically, the shift indicator pointer is connected to a cord from the instrument cluster that attaches to the part of the steering column that rotates when you shift. It is connected by a pinch clip that can be slid off with a flat head screwdriver from the edge of the steering column. If yours isn't operating, this cord is probably disconnected from the column. Watch his video to see what I mean as he partially shows it and discusses it in good detail. If that is the problem, which is likely as people forget to reattach them when working in that area of the car, the fix will be really easy as you'll just have to reattach it. You might have to play with the position, but chances are the mark where it originally was will be visible as a tiny scrape on the paint of the column, plus you can use the park position while in park to line it up correctly. If the clip doesn't hold, some pliers should be able to bend it a bit so it will.
