When Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon first appeared as Oscar and Felix on the big screen, they immediately became a cultural phenomenon. Those roles would always be connected with both actors, ending also in a long real-life friendship. While the two characters Oscar and Felix would be also performed by others on Broadway or even in a successful TV-sitcom (this time portrayed by Jack Klugman and Tony Randall), Matthau and Lemmon would perform similar characters (with an adorable chemistry) in other movies. It was the 1990’s which would mark the peak of their collaborations, spawning not less than four movies in five years. The final production would be The Odd Couple II, thirty years after its original. Original writer and creator of the “Couple” Neil Simon would also return to provide the script. While everything was meant for the good, the movie turned out to be a bit weak, with a not very interesting plot. It is not bad, after all but not a must-see as well. Anyway, it’s just good to see Matthau and Lemmon being together, as great friends they had become with “us”, the audience.
The music for the Odd Couple II was written by Alan Silvestri, who would also reach a creative peak during the 80’s and 90’s. While the plot of “Couple II” didn’t offer many opportunities to create a great score, Silvestri gave us a lovable new theme (which appears here in “Parking Lot” for the first time) next to the legendary tune by Neal Hefti, which luckily is not put everywhere in the movie, but rather carefully, making it more fun to listen to, when it appears, rounding up this easy and neat listening experience. Enjoy!
This movie means a lot to me, it brings back childhood memories. I used to watch it with my whole family, and it's became my favorite movie of all time. I saw it at least 20 times. I think i know 80% of Matthau's and Lemmon's lines.

I love this movie and have reviewed it. The Odd Couple was a movie of a different era, where dialogue mattered and snap, crackle and popped. Lemmon and Matthau were powerhouses and are sorely missed.
I love this movie, always enjoyed watching it with my Aunty when she was alive, we loved to laugh.

You just KNOW they wanted to make Grumpy Old Men 3 but it turned into Odd Couple 2. Think about it: Grumpier Old Men ends with their kids getting ready to be married, Odd Couple 2 is about the kids actually getting married. And Alan Silvestri did the music for all three movies.
