      The more you go the better you'll get each time. Michigan doesn't have those kind of hills and stuff but for the technical things, just keep looking forward...and don't pedal clip a root.

      That was my 1st thought as well. He was way more confident than anyone I have ever seen jumping A line for the 1st time. While on the ironhorse, you could tell he would progress quickly. Evidently ski jumping and jumping a mountainbike are similar. I guess physics is physics.

      @@kingdomcome1617 since you jump on your mountain bike by using your legs and while facing straight, I guess it probably does translate pretty well theoretically lol maybe this dude can chime in on that

      Confidence from skiing. He has solid air awareness and is already comfortable with going big; just needed to get comfortable doing it on a bike. My take anyway.

    • @Doggepp
      @Doggepp ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Absolutely insane are the correct words. Even in the first few clips I was feeling this guy must have done some form of jumping or riding before, his movement and body placement is/was WAY too good for never doing anything before. Then I saw the skiing clips, seems like the jumping skills translate to biking in some way, because it looked natural so fast

    • @ironeinar
      @ironeinar ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Doggepp Absoltely, I bet he rode bmx or something like it before... Maybe no tech trails or mtb, but definitely something where he learned how to jump. Nice work! The key to progressing is the "Local Track". Riding a wide variety is great but in addition to variety you should have 1, 2, or 3 local favorite trails that you ride repeatedly almost every day, multiple laps per day, and sessioning key sections over and over if possible. Doing this gives you a comfort and muscle memory that allows you to get looser, and really explore body position and committing to corners faster and more leaned in than you would on trails you don't know every inch/millimeter of.
    Keep it up!👍

Ride with brake levers the wrong sides and survived. I watched your A line and thought how the progression what what.. You just bought a bike..
    Dude i snapped my T11 clean in half on a DH gao jump. 9 months of hell.. Docs said id never ride or sport again.. Im now on my 8th full winter season.
    Your ski skills and experience clearly really helped especially with A line and you're more than experienced with the spinal brap brap.

    A willingness to fail and crash is all you need to progress quickly. I see videos of people saying it took them a year just to overcome the fear of a particular jump/feature. You must examine your skill level appropriately, pick obstacles that are just outside your skill level, and smash them. Rinse to reveal a new ability and repeat.

Got a Canyon Spectral, found some really good ridding buddy’s and started sending it. Had a background just being athletic and doing a lot of different extreme sports. I just did everything what my buddy’s did, they had a lot more skill. But learning from mistakes (had some serious crashes and injury’s). Anyway, best choice in my life, Moved from Estonia to British Columbia and living my best life. Btw, just 2 weeks ago broke my thumb at Squamish, what a life.

    @WilliamLevesqueineX ปีที่แล้ว

    As someone who's starting his second season and who rides steep double blacks, one tip I can give from watching you, lean back a bit less (no stretched arms). You want to be chin at the bar most of the time, especially in the steeps (it was the reason why you were losing control on that rock roll to wooden berm, and on Captain Safety, no front grip and then weak position to handle the compression). You then decide how high or low you get yourself depending on how steep, but almost always keep a strong position on the handlebar.
    Can't really help for jumping since thats my weak point, but same basic rules apply, unless you like getting bucked :P
    Keep shredding !

    I started mountain biking about three years ago, and I started with zero knowledge. But I'm still not able to do drops, jumps and stuff you showed within one year. This is very impressive. I mean, this is not just the just do it mentality, you also need to have the right technique otherwise you will hurt yourself.

    there is an indoor mountain bike park opening in North Vancouver that is getting a foam pit, they are although opening in stages and the foam pit is stage two so I'm not sure on the exact time the foam pits will open. I also work there so it would be dope to meet you.
