Mother Father has always been one of my favorite songs. It didn't get much air play back in the day and wasn't on the list for the Escape tour. So not to many cities got to hear it live!
This Houston concert is simply AMAZING! And Mother Father is what us classic Journey fans call ........ A Masterpiece!!!

This was never released as a single. I would have loved to hear more from you about this song. For instance, the mood swings in the lyrics and music (hope and desperation) or the incredible control of and emotion in Steve's voice or the vocal harmonies... At any rate, I'm glad you decided to give it a listen.

Stee Perry is a counter tenor...he can hit notes higher than tenors generally. Bobby Hatfield (Unchained Melody) is also a counter tenor

You are right about Steve Perry everybody can recognize him that’s why he just recently was voted the best rock singer of all time
What most people today do not understand. This was a live concert that was recorded. At that time there was no fancy type of Microphones or anything like that what you heard was what you got from the band members as well as the singer. Because this was a live concert, this song was almost in the middle of the concert, and to believe that Steve Perry still had a beautiful voice from beginning to the end of that concert, never failing at all. He is an amazing singer and the band was perfect. This was the huge rise to stardom.
You can also look up Steve Perry’s solo albums. One of my favorites is for the love of strange medicine, and then the two traces albums.
