The Episode Aigis DLC is much harder than the base game. So, the increased difficulty especially on Heartless Mode actually made it pretty fun to play.
Agreed, the balance adjustments genuinely made it somewhat challenging. It wasn't so challenging that I had to retry a lot of bosses multiple times, but enough that a wrong move or unlucky moment can easily spiral into a loss, and that's not even taking the Joker challenge battle into account.
I think it's important to mention is that if you're a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber, you get Expansion Pass for free, you just need to claim it until the end of the year. I think you just get it forever even, since it doesn't look like it's tied to your subscription!
I also wish that they added Kotone as an optional route so Reload would be the most definitive version of Persona 3 but unfortunately we can't get that...
I'm at the final battle now and I won't lie I don't think this is worth it unless you love this series. I didn't need 150 more floors of Tartarus and the story stuff is minimal, but I do enjoy what is there. Hope the ending makes it worth the price but I still enjoyed returning to this game for a few hours (ended up putting it on Peaceful and rushing through tho)
Yeah this dlc is largely combat focused. So playing on peaceful I can see why there isn't alot for you here. I've enjoyed it because it's been slightly harder than the main game and got me to think alot more about my party composition and what skills I have on my personas to progress. But yeah the story content while good insight into the casts backstory, is pretty sparse. But I've loved the dlc because combat in reload is great and I enjoyed having an excuse to go back to it. And it's a perfect second screen game, when I can stick on a podcast and grind out the abyss of time. And it's a great time but if you don't absolutely love combat and persona fusion and equipment management then this dlc probably isn't the best.
Yeah I have to agree. It basically has a ton of unnecessary filling in the form of Tartarus, with the occasional bite of a gourmet meal in the form of its story and new form hangouts. I started on normal but switched to easy and found it much more enjoyable cause I was spending much less time in nothing burger land.
I was definitely mixed on this one myself. I appreciated getting to be with these characters more, but the emphasis on combat with the story being so sparse until the very end was kind of off putting for me. SMT combat makes up for it as usual and the dungeon mechanics make autopiloting somewhat easy I'd say so that helps. Thankfully it was less than 20 hours long so it gets a pass there and I'm glad folks get to experience this in a form that isn't as jarring as the FES version. Great video as always Daniel!
I'm about halfway through the seventh door on hard mode and I think it's a blast. The story is kind of whatever honestly, but the gameplay loop is just as fun as Tartarus and more like traditional SMT, so I'd recommend it if you can get it on Game Pass.
The story feels whatever because you barely got any story yet, the climax is after all the doors, once you got to the deepest part of the Abyss of time, once you get there the story really peaks up imo.
It took me a bit to get used to doing all the fighting without social aspects to break it up, but I have been enjoying it. I just need to be in the mood for a grind before I make progress.
As much as I enjoyed the dlc i have 2 complaints 1. the price. if it was 20 bucks i would say this would have been definitely worth but at 35 dollars its just not worth it wait for a discount. 2. the previous characters compendium being level locked I feel like the price of the unit as the lock should have been enough. I wanted to use my orpheus telos or lucifer from the base game but could not because they are level 99 and 96 and even though i saved up the money to buy them i couldnt because of level locking which I think for the DLC they should have removed. I understand they want you to build up your personas again but some of us want to use the personas we painstakingly built up to make grinding easier or to make hard bosses not as hard. other than that the dlc was good though story was amazing.
Marie and kasumi have never been forgotten. kasumi is the P5 tactica DLC and will probably also be in P5 phantom X and marie is in 4 arena ultimax, the DLC of 4 dancing, and is in both Q 1 and 2
Happy this was included in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, because yeah. $35 is too much for a game that doesn't add a lot new. Enjoying my time, but I think I'd dislike Episode Aigis if I had to pay the full price

If i can put my thoughts here, it's a mix of yes and no. If you like tartarus as whole, then i see it as a bit more worth it but if you don't like tartarus, then probably wait for a sale or don't play it at all. I do really enjoy it but I do wish they voiced the dorm events and they fixed the mix of gameplay and daily life. Possibly 60% abyss and 40% daily life instead of 70-75% abyss and 25-30% daily life.
But I will give the lack of voice acting in dorm events a bit of slack since they only were able to work on this for a few months and it nearly got canned. I just wished they went with the final horizon route and made it a free update.
I think reloads dungeon exploration and combat work fine when combined with the other half of the gameplay but it falls short when that becomes the sole focus in the answer. The poor pacing of a decent story just makes it a drag at points. If the expansion wasn't a perk on game pass the price would be hard to swallow imo
I definitely plan to play this, but I have some hesitation. Aegis was my least favorite character in the base game and I hated the ending kinda forcing her on me. So to have her be the central character of this is very unappealing. That said, my best friend died a few months ago. The subject matter of this is really interesting to me and the quality of the series is enough to get me to buy it regardless.

Saw the scene where the MC gets defeated, man what happened to this game's aesthetics... i guess one of the darkest and most haunting games isnt allowed to be dark and haunting when remade... how did they managed to make a nearly one to one remake yet still fumble the atmosphere and bleak tone out of all things... I get it times are different, but getting the darkness toned down really works against the game's themes and vibes
I think the purpose is for the people watching the video to decide. He gave all the pros and cons in this video, now it’s up for up to decide if you think it’s worth it
As most of the comments are saying, it isn't worth the price. We can't buy it separately from the season pass and it is part of a PS2 game, so should have been included from the start. Also felt a bit deceived by them, as they avoided the question about this for a while, then announced it almost immediately after releasing the game. I think they wanted people to buy the collector's edition, which didn't include this as a season pass, and then pay more for this.
I really hate that this episode and the game as a whole is getting bashed. I’m really enjoying this DLC a lot in terms of both challenging gameplay and its story The price certainly needs to go down but I could say the same about the Mario Kart 8 DX DLC which I also enjoyed Also it’s a long shot but a prequel dlc story where you play as Strega would be perfection
It’s not worth $35 and I wish you could buy Episode Aigis separately, instead of being locked into an expansion pass filled with useless fluff. However, as an epilogue to the base game, not only does bring some great closure to the characters (especially with Aigis, as her development doesn’t come until very late into the game), but the dungeon crawling gameplay is as fun as ever. Mostly since it’s thankfully nowhere as tedious as in the original due actually having access to the compendium (and even being able to carry over the compendium from your previous save file), along with the changes made to Tartarus also being carried over to the Abyss of Time due to it basically being Tartarus 2.0. I’m currently about halfway through the fifth door, and if/when it goes on sale, I’d certainly reccomend it to those who enjoyed the base game and want more Persona 3. Or even if you have Game Pass Ultimate too due to it coming with P3R at no additional charge.
Damn, I was gonna say they finally learned how to release an expansion instead of a whole new game SKU, but they force you to get an expansion pass to get the DLC? 💀

I dropped it after like 7 hours. Having to regrind the same characters all over again and slog through a reskinned Tartarus is super boring. And this applies to the base game too but I find it obnoxious that there is no way for benched characters to get some exp and you have to use the clock mechanic for them to catch up especially for a grind heavy game. Its a solution to a problem that doesn’t need to exist. Instead of grinding characters from level 25 to endgame they should have just had them start at level 75 or whatever and had an actual handcrafted dungeon, like with the third semester content in P5 Royal. It would have maybe made the dlc much shorter but the content would be way better. Also not helping that the direction of the animated cutscenes is straight up worse than FES. Compare Aigis awakening Orpheus from FES to this and you can’t tell me it was done just as good. This along with the fact that they couldn’t be bothered to actually voice the hangouts and only use recycled voice clips makes this dlc feel really cheap. It doesn’t really address some of the biggest issues because they aren’t as easy to fix like manual control. I like Aigis, I like The Answer/Episode Aigis when it isn’t just padding out the runtime but this is a disappointment. I would only recommend trying out if you can get Gamepass Ultimate for cheap since you get it for no additional cost. In hindsight there was probably a good reason GP ultimate got it and they didn’t put SMTVV or Metaphor there lmao

A narrative focused game with little story in a DLC is definitely rough as hell.

Persona 3 Reload was a really lackluster remake with a bunch of downgrades compared to the original, so I can't imagine this will be any different
