If you enjoyed base Xenoblade 3 then Future Redeemed is 100% necessary, both due to how amazing it is and how much of a satisfying conclusion it is to the game’s story. Somehow it managed to surpass Torna, which already set the bar very high for how great single-player DLC can be. Future Redeemed is actually a REALLY good Story Expansion DLC, and ESPECIALLY for those who have played through XBC1+2 before, so I'd say it's definitely worth it! Although, I would recommend AT THE VERY LEAST to play through the base XBC3 game first as there are some MAJOR spoilers for several important plot points in XBC3's story in there.

I’m having so much fun with this game. I love the new skill that lets you launch enemies at the start of battle with a side attack. I find myself running around the world as Rex and side attacking every enemy I see. Why? Because I can! 😂
So like, I realized Matthew’s grandfather’s name was awesome, but I just realized that the fact that it’s considered a bad name fits so perfectly with Noah not being good at naming.🤯
I think Monolith blew it out of the park with this one. Not that they don't usually but yeah, this is really special. From the story to the combat to the world, its like they took the best parts of every Xenoblade game and condensed it down into 25 hours of perfection. And to release it so quickly! I feel like they must be working on something very exciting (maybe for Nintendo's next console) and wanted to get this out ASAP, yet it doesn't feel at all rushed. Only time will tell really, but if this is the last new monolith title on the switch then what a way to go out. It's been an incredible 6 years and I can't wait to see what they make next. DLC is not a fair way of describing Future Redeemed (nor was it for Torna). It's made it even harder for me to choose between xc2 and 3 as my favourite in the series now.
At what point does Xenoblade 2 start picking up? I loved the original and Cross but Xenoblade 2 is just so hard to play through with the overly sexual designs, even by Japanese standards, the over the top anime tropes that were not present in the original, and the fetishistic blades that you collect. I really loved the first and Cross, and I want to love X2 as well.
@@backupschmliff1156 I'm not the person you asked, but I'll give my perspective anyways; I think there's a lot of fantastic stuff in XC2, it's just buried under a lot of mediocrity and bloat. Presentation wise, it's a huge step down from the previous games, and I totally agree with your comments on the character designs and tropes. It's often hard to take seriously, which is a huge shame considering the serious and more grounded tone was part of what made the first game so special. It does get slightly better the further you progress, but that's after dozens of hours. There is a lot of good in there, though. The combat starts to pick up in late chapter 3/early chapter 4, with elemental orbs and chain attacks. It's very interesting stuff, but horribly taught through the in-game tutorials so you'll have to do some googling to help you. The story is also mostly decent, it has some fun and likeable characters and really cool moments occasionally, but the stakes feel very low. There's some neat things near the end that you'll appreciate having finished the first game. The soundtrack is nothing but bangers, of course, but you can listen to that online if you'd like. So in short, if you can grit your teeth and put up with the perverted designs, awkward cutscenes and stilted storytelling for maybe 40 hours, you'll start to lean more towards a positive opinion on the game. But if that doesn't sound worth it to you, maybe consider moving straight to 3. It still doesn't quite reach the highs of XC1 in my opinion, but it's tonally and visually much closer than XC2 is. You should enjoy it from the beginning. Apologies for the thesis-length reply!
@@wenyntrout Xenoblade 3 does look much better. I've already played Xenogears and Xenosaga. I got my way through Xenosaga II, so I won't give up on Xenoblade 2. Also, does Xenoblade Cross get referenced at all I'm X3?
@@backupschmliff1156 There's no story connections to Cross, just some references in class names, arts, etc. It's a shame that game never got expanded upon, it was so so good. Fingers "crossed" for a sequel in the near future.
I absolutely loved this DLC story. This is definitely something you should play after you've experienced 1 & 2. It's still way too early, but I'm already looking forward to what Monolith soft has in store for us. (Darn, I wish we had like 48 hours a day to play games...)
This DLC was also a Monoliths' super fans' wet dream, in that they tied all their series together... That alone made me the happiest fan on the Planet...
Love this video idea! Informative, great humour, and great presentation. One minor thing to note: Wave 4 gives you a reason to go back to the base game as well which I think a number of people might have missed based on the lack of discussion on it.
I gotta say, I'm really glad I didn't watch the trailer for Future Redeemed. Those questions you brought up were so much fun when it came up. I'm just a bit way into Chapter 3 and mannnnnnnnn there's just so much good content and connections to the whole series. I absolutely love it and its completely worth it.
Honestly it certainly felt like they were building up to it deliberately with Waves 2 and 3, Ino implied someone from Alrest likely linked to Tora made it to Aionios, and Masha confirmed House Cassini Inherited Rex's Outlook and was taught by him
With Xenoblade DLC the asking price is really for the extra story (Future Connected, Torna The Golden Country and Future Redeemed), the rest of the DLC is just bonuses that sweeten the deal, extra costumes, gauntlet modes and extra classes.
I was pretty confident the DLC would be worth it when they first announced it, considering how much mileage I got out of the XC2 DLC. And I gotta say, I was not disappointed.
Minor criticism from a psychology graduate: the word you were looking for was "Asocial" not "Antisocial" "Asocial" means not being very sociable, whereas "Antisocial" is a personality disorder that is characterized with a lack of empathy.
This DLC is the most fun 30 hoirs I've had with the franchise. I've played all of the games except X. I think it's incredible value. Plus, I'd rather be left wishing it was longer, than wishing it was shorter.
It is on sale, and for those who are thinking about it... I'd say it's worth it, even at full price. Monolith Soft one of the few that's getting it right ❤
This was a great review but there were a lot of things that weren't mentioned that I feel should have been. Other comments mentioned these but one really big one is this: No matter what you do, do not play Future Redeemed before you play the rest of the series! Seriously. It is absolutely critical that you play Xenoblade 1 and 2 before playing these games. It's not just references. This game will mention things you won't understand and will just straight up spoil the first 2 games. It's a genuine love letter and conclusion to the series and it is perfect to me. Absolutely phenomenal
I love Xenoblade so much and enjoyed Futures Redeemed that, after finishing it, I'm not satisfied with the ending. I think that there was room for more before the trilogy ended :(
They pretty much push us towards getting the DLC pass in every game now. It is impossible to get the extra game without getting the entire thing. And for good reason, even if little bits and pieces kinda suck(Elma Redux challenge in 2), it's on the whole genuinely good DLC that feels like it belongs in the basegame, but in a good way where the basegame itself does not feel incomplete without it.
When we are as close as we are to TotK, I think a lot more people would be willing to jump onto this if it were a bonus for NSO Expansion Pack Members. Xenoblade might not be a series that'll push new subscriptions, but paid DLC for the game is a lot harder of a sell than it is for games like Mario Kart or Animal Crossing. It's clear the games they are choosing for the service are games they know will sell more memberships than it'll sell downloads. Where as the games that get paid DLC are games Nintendo knows they can't get a return on if they don't charge from fans that want it regardless. Don't take my word for it entirely, these are the kind of capitalistic choices you could have a wide range of different opinions on. I just think it's interesting they didn't put it on the Expansion Pack.
The fact that everyone in the FR party is related is kinda cool. SPOILER . . . . . A is split off of Alvis, Shulk's blade, Nikol is his and Fiora's son which also makes him Dunban's nephew, Panacea is Reyn and Sharla's daughter, Glimmer is Rex and Pyra's daughter, Linka is Zeke and Pandoria's kid and Matthew and Na'el are Mio's greatgrandchildren, which makes them Rex and Nia's great-greatgrandchildren (And they could also be related to Shulk if it turns out Noah is).
I can’t bring myself to get it. I thought the first game was good, but I had some problems with it that no one seemed to really care about, and I hate everything the second game stands for. The third one blew my expectations out of the water and delivered on what’s probably my favorite story ever told in a video game. Then the dlc stuff come out and I see more conversation on all the dlc despite me hearing nothing about how good it is outside of the fan service. As someone who really like Xenoblade 3, this seems more catered to fans of the first few games, and I’m just sad that Xenoblade 3 has to be connected to this franchise. I’m afraid it’s going to go down in video game history as the crossover game rather than the masterclass of storytelling that made me like it so much.
I know everyone is hyped about the returning characters. But 3 is my favorite game. And what this dlc does for understanding what really happened with N and the original city was worth it to me. Things that didn't quite make sense before finally click into place. And while players are hyped to see the returning characters the Story is about what is happening now. It does the fan service but it keeps it about solving the current problem which I appreciated.
A huge part of why Xenoblade 3 works is its main message of stagnation which requires 1 and 2 to work, I wouldnt be ashamed of it being in the same series if those previous games laid the foundation and elevate this one
@@skylandersfan6954 I think the story still works without the previous games. The message of stagnation is still prevalent in the way the soldiers are so tired of always fighting. They really pushed how long the war has been going on which works to further the concept of the endless now.
@@Natedog15000 Yes, but you're missing the meta commentary of the message, not to mention giving the game a very "somethings wrong" vibe to it more than it already has
@@skylandersfan6954 I’m not missing anything, you missed the point of my original comment. That the game works perfectly fine disconnected from the other two games. The main message in context of the first two games isn’t a “huge part” of why it works. It helps anyone who likes the first two games, but it still works for anyone who hasn’t played them before.
Xenoblade DLCs at this point have been more or less proven to be one of the better DLC investments, assuming of course you like the base game. A $30 price tag for what amounts to a 10 hour, fully fleshed out game is more than worth it in most cases nowadays. And, unlike some DLCs that can feel a bit unpolished, the DLC sections are generally speaking on par with the main game.
If this was intended as a sort of buyer guide to help people decide if the DLC was worth it to them or not, I think you went into way too many story details...
People have been talkin about TotK so much for so long but I'm tired of the game even though it hasn't come out yet. Glad to see that you're giving Xenoblade love because so many TH-camrs are just acting as if it doesn't exist right now.
Honestly I know this is 8 months late but i honestly agree. I got TotK, Xbc2 And Xbc3 Around the same time and I got tired of TotK instantly. I played BoTW 4 Times so tears of the kingdom felt the exact same. It was so boring but I’m glad my brother loves it. I love xbc2 and 3 so much more in my opinion and I’m thinking whether I should buy the DLC after I get Persona 3 Reload
Spoiler Regarding a Side Quest: The quest when you fight Shulk and Rex is just so good especially if you're not overleveled and undergeared on Glimmer and Nikol, during that time my Nikol and Glimmer is 1 Gem slot 1 Accessory slot and barely finished half of the 2nd affinity since I'm focusing on Powering up my DPS, Shulk and A and boy oh boy that fight is TOUGH!!! Playing on Hard Mode btw At the start of the battle Rex will immediately use Infinity Blade and it will 1 shot Glimmer if Nikol didn't get the aggro... It's just pure Bliss.
I fortunately put a lot of Affinity into Nikol because Xenoblade Tanks have a track record of being just...not good. So I wanted him to be actually capable compared to the rest. When I got to that fight, I realized how galaxy-brained that decision was.
Note: I believe the Gauntlet came in DLC wave 3 instead of DLC wave 2. Anyway, I do think that, as far as the main game is concerned, XC2's DLC is a lot more impactful than XC3's. Even disregarding the free stuff added in XC2's NG+ Update (allowing for T-Elos and those in the Torna group to be summoned), XC2 added multiple other Blades - Crossette, Poppibuster, and Corvin, who each have very particular interactions and quirks involving themselves and the world around them. Additionally, through Challenge Mode, you could unlock the characters Shulk, Fiora, and Elma for use as well. XC3's DLC additions were extremely hindered by the strict limits of XC3's Hero system. As cool as "Inoswap" looks, it was nowhere near as deep or interesting as Poppiswap was. It's effectively just a skill tree that lets you unlock Ino's abilities over time. Poppiswap was a part system that could completely change the functions and capabilities of Poppi's various forms, allowing you to truly build Poppi any way you wanted. However, between Future Redeemed and Torna? I'd honestly go Future Redeemed. See, in the Torna campaign, it was annoying being gated by the community mechanics. It was like they knew the game was short and wanted to draw it out longer. However, Future Redeemed took a very alternative approach. Instead of trying to stretch out its short duration, it used its short duration as almost an advantage, with its Affinity mechanics incentivizing 100% completion to max out your characters.
The DLC is great, I'm just not perfectly happy with Rex. I don't mind him at all as a character, but he feels a bit too far removed from his original version. Maybe it just feels that way because Shulk is closer to his original version and even got to keep his voice actor, but Rex just isn't the way I would've pictured him in my mind. That said, they knocked the visual designs out of the park.
I really enjoyed the expansion but I think they jumped the gun releasing it so early. The balance between the characters is so hilariously imbalanced with how rex is basically the only way of beating the super bosses. I mean shulk and nikol can hold aggro to save their life. I ended up with just farming memory lockets so they can all revive rex when he inevitably goes down
Rex and Matthew are the only DPS... Rex as the Master Driver being insanely powerful just makes sense... And is a really good Fan-Service... The issue is that Rex isn't too powerful but how under-tuned the other characters are especially both Tanks... Imho Shulk should've have more better passive skills since alot of his kit are kinda underwhelming, a more Evasion Tank Focused tank will fit him since he's taking the mantle of Dunban...
@@vivid8979 the fact Shulk has 2 useless spike damage skills and none of his arts have increased aggro gain are the biggest issue swith him. Eventually I just gave him the fraternal badge (because he and Nikol are ever going to hold aggro for long, if ever) and the break brooch so he can become a secondary breaker.
I’ve played 1 and 2 but I haven’t gotten around to 3. Do I need to play the campaign first before I hop into the DLC story? I just wanna see my boys again ;;
future redeemed spoils the whole series (even 3) so please play 3 first and then future redeemed. also, future redeemed assumes you have played the base game so the only tutorials are future redeemed relevant so it wouldn’t be fun to just spend good big reading through the tutorial to understand what to even do.
The questions is, I put 130hrs into this game after release and haven’t touched it since. I’m planning to play this game next month after I finish TOTK 100%, will I even remember how to play XC3 😭
Two things to say: 1. I wholeheartedly welcome this new series: DLC as a whole should be explored more in gaming. 2. This DLC sounds amazing, but given Tears of the Kingdom is coming out, and I already have a full backlog, I may end up skipping this
For what it's worth-and this is addressed to anyone reading-Future Redeemed runs most players 15-25 hours, which may be doable before the official release of Tears of the Kingdom. May be a good way to pass the time, even. In case someone wonders if they would be cutting it close, I would say there's room enough to go at one's own pace.
What a beautiful game ruined bro I used to play this game under may covers instead of sleeping in 2018 when I finish it it was like a dream come true when I play the golden country version I liked it but now it's like an online game than a nice story game
I can relate to the question got after having the trailer After whatching the video. I only have one complain about Xenoblade 3 futur redemed. Unlike futur conected who was in the same game and Torna who get a physical realized (999$ on e bay I know) FR will remain a dlc. It's a shame for a preservation of the video game and the franchise. When the Switch e shop will be closed no way to play it outside émulation if you loose your consol. I don't have finish fr but imagin if it drop lore usefull for understand the next Xeno serie game. Or even connections to gears (okay outside copyright issue) saga and X. Would poeple only be able to go on TH-cam for findind this lore. I take Xenoblade 3 but it's also the case for over franchise. Fire emblem fate for exemple. Bye bye révélation...
This DLC is absolutely amazing, and offers more content than some full priced RPG's. The sense of scale is amazing. Xenoblade Chronicles series presents a fantasy setting that Final Fantasy has lost. It is hands down the best rpg series- even better than Persona. Play through 3 with the DLC, you wont be disappointed.
I kind of hate Future Redeem BECAUSE it's a DLC. I sunk 20hrs into beating it and felt that there was so much more it could have had as a stand alone. It was full of fan service but could have explained more story important details like, what happened with the rest of Rex and Shulk's friends, and how they came to fight with Z. There had to be a time when Ontos betrayed them. things like that. The Xenoblade 3 world is so interesting and I feel like there is still much more story they could easily make about it I also had a hard time getting attached to the new cast with how short the story is.
Shulks friends souls are within lucky 7. Rexs friends got absorbed into Aionios's flow. Both groups are alive and well after the origin reboot. As are Shulk and Rex themselves as promised. They fought with Z as a temporary ceasefire to deal with Alpha. Ontos went insane and became Alpha because Malos and Mythras' cores weren't feeding him data anymore, and without them, he's just a robot. Alpha and A broke apart because of Ghondors intervention. Some of this just calls for paying close attention and critical thinking, other things are in side content, which does have lore important information. Giving every answer in painstaking detail isn't this series MO.
@@TheSpaceking12 Any game that puts important story info into skippable side quests has poor story telling. I rather see a cool thing instead of reading a text box that say "yeah... so this thing happened... yeah, pretty big deal... yeah". There's so much more they could have added to this if it was a full length game. It would also give more time for the new cast to develop. It was an alright DLC but I'd say Torna was a much better written prequel than this one.
@@TheSpaceking12 poor story telling. Side quests are not where the main story should go. That's what the main story is for. That's comparable to saying Final Fantasy 15 has an amazing story because you have to watch the movie, the anime, and research some of the cancelled Versus 13 promo's to fully understand that story. It's not laziness. It's very common for people to skip side quests in a game. Important story elements should not be in there without also being in the main.

"DLC This?"
...Ok, that's admittedly kinda clever... say it fast enough and it sounds like "Do Y'all See This?"
This DLC was also a Monoliths' super fans' wet dream, in that they tied all their series together... That alone made me the happiest fan on the Planet...
The zoom in through Eunie to Noah is *chef's kiss*!
This would be a great series if it continues. It's a great idea
13:14 Well, it DOES overshadow Linka and Panacea, but so does everything else.
Love this video idea! Informative, great humour, and great presentation.
One minor thing to note: Wave 4 gives you a reason to go back to the base game as well which I think a number of people might have missed based on the lack of discussion on it.
7:36 LOL Edward Elric
More like Father’s final form tho
Just finished the Future Redeemed story and loved every moment of the journey!!
Now to 100% this side story!
For RPGs especially, expansion packs are fully acceptable and worth it.
Putting 3 as a whole against 1 as a whole now, I’d say 3 is better for sure. So it’s best game ever with 1 in 2nd
The very first time I heard Glimmer's attack up field go up I heard the Windows error dong and could never unhear it.
i still think Chronicles X is the best Xenoblade game also the best looking one
This was a great video. It's nice seeing different kinds of gbg content.
100% worth it! I really hope we get a standalone physical copy of Future Redeemed!
Future redeemed will be a 10/10 when they release a physical copy of the dlc
I now need a standalone game starring Riku that details how he went from working with the City, to being in the Kevesi army
FC is not DLC.
I was pretty confident the DLC would be worth it when they first announced it, considering how much mileage I got out of the XC2 DLC. And I gotta say, I was not disappointed.
Well they did kinda reveal that Riku was more than just common variety nopon in the base game so I actually expectes him to be in this.
Minor criticism from a psychology graduate: the word you were looking for was "Asocial" not "Antisocial"
"Asocial" means not being very sociable, whereas "Antisocial" is a personality disorder that is characterized with a lack of empathy.
Awesome video with great humor !
I'm so glad someone mentioned the Windows crashing sound 😂
Can't play Future Redeemed (the extra story DLC) without the Expansion Pass so yes, it's worth it. You can ignore the rest
The enemy Rush Challenge Mode is pretty sweet tbh. Not worth the $30 by itself, probably not even $5, but as a bonus it's pretty cool.
A new mini series from Daniel? All about video game DLC? Now I can bug him about Mario Golf World Tour!
This DLC is the most fun 30 hoirs I've had with the franchise. I've played all of the games except X.
I think it's incredible value. Plus, I'd rather be left wishing it was longer, than wishing it was shorter.
I would have started Xenoblade 2 way earlier if I knew Rex would become looking like a dad!
I'm much more motivated now! 🤩
I loved the DLC... GigaChadus Rex is the GOAT!!! 😁👍
I love the fact that I bought this yesterday and now I'm just watching to understand what it is I bought lol
It is on sale, and for those who are thinking about it... I'd say it's worth it, even at full price. Monolith Soft one of the few that's getting it right ❤
Thanks for this spoiler free review. It is at discount now for the first time and sure I will get it. I just got a physical copy for torna... Finally
1:48 *Monolithic.
Dlc was great I just wanted for some spoiler heroes to have their classes playable, if you know, you know
Bruh the entire dlc I was thinking bout that windows crash sound 🤦🏽♂️🤣

Man where did you get that Majora's Mask poster? it looks really dope
Although it's 6 parts, it isn't the 6 part story that monolith had been trying to make
The stream of questions about FR got me, take your like and sub lol
Now that we've reached the end of the main Xenoblade Epic, I only have one question: Xenoblade X port/sequal when!?
Now hopefully they do a physcial release of this one too
Xenoblade DLCs at this point have been more or less proven to be one of the better DLC investments, assuming of course you like the base game. A $30 price tag for what amounts to a 10 hour, fully fleshed out game is more than worth it in most cases nowadays. And, unlike some DLCs that can feel a bit unpolished, the DLC sections are generally speaking on par with the main game.
I will say that if you compare this to 2, I would say it had the better expansion pass. But Future Redeemed is just so strong.
I have Xenoblade 1 and 2 haven't gotten far in either. So I wanna beat those two before I play 3 XD
Spoiler Regarding a Side Quest:
The quest when you fight Shulk and Rex is just so good especially if you're not overleveled and undergeared on Glimmer and Nikol, during that time my Nikol and Glimmer is 1 Gem slot 1 Accessory slot and barely finished half of the 2nd affinity since I'm focusing on Powering up my DPS, Shulk and A and boy oh boy that fight is TOUGH!!! Playing on Hard Mode btw
At the start of the battle Rex will immediately use Infinity Blade and it will 1 shot Glimmer if Nikol didn't get the aggro... It's just pure Bliss.
I fortunately put a lot of Affinity into Nikol because Xenoblade Tanks have a track record of being just...not good. So I wanted him to be actually capable compared to the rest. When I got to that fight, I realized how galaxy-brained that decision was.
Toughest mandatory boss for me.
Time to play the games the cursed way: canon chronological order!
I think they did better with XC2 DLC but i loved every moment in Future Redeemed
DLC game of the year 2023 , GOAT
Perfect!
kinoblade
The DLC is great, I'm just not perfectly happy with Rex.
I don't mind him at all as a character, but he feels a bit too far removed from his original version. Maybe it just feels that way because Shulk is closer to his original version and even got to keep his voice actor, but Rex just isn't the way I would've pictured him in my mind.
That said, they knocked the visual designs out of the park.
9:10 or…Blowdown??!!?
I’ve played 1 and 2 but I haven’t gotten around to 3. Do I need to play the campaign first before I hop into the DLC story? I just wanna see my boys again ;;
future redeemed spoils the whole series (even 3) so please play 3 first and then future redeemed. also, future redeemed assumes you have played the base game so the only tutorials are future redeemed relevant so it wouldn’t be fun to just spend good big reading through the tutorial to understand what to even do.
@@yibby7 Goooood to know! Thanks! 💜
The questions is, I put 130hrs into this game after release and haven’t touched it since. I’m planning to play this game next month after I finish TOTK 100%, will I even remember how to play XC3 😭
Worth it for Future Redeemed alone
I thought so too! It was so weird
That swimsuit zoom in 😂
Loved every second
Buy the dlc straight at the start of the game or finish the base game before?
yes
Two things to say:
@@semperscio Thank you, friend 🤗
First Noah's ark, now his ass?! XD
Only problem with Future redeemed is that no new game plus
Need to play this one still, and your talk of how it is a intntial six part epic makes me feel a little bad I will probably never play Torna ha.
What a beautiful game ruined bro I used to play this game under may covers instead of sleeping in 2018 when I finish it it was like a dream come true when I play the golden country version I liked it but now it's like an online game than a nice story game
something tells me Riku isnt a common variety nopon
Instead of "monumental" shouldn't that be monolithic?
monolith is just never going to acknowledge x again huh
I can relate to the question got after having the trailer
After whatching the video.
Final Fantasy 14 and 16 have all the fantasy the series is known for so your wrong.
I enjoy how XBC is fantasy with a hint of sci fi but I really want them to continue X with its inverted sci fi with a hint of fantasy.
The Xenoblade 3 world is so interesting and I feel like there is still much more story they could easily make about it
I also had a hard time getting attached to the new cast with how short the story is.
@MitchMAH poor storytelling, or a lazy player? Lmao
@@MitchMAH It's lore, so it's fine to make you go out of your way for it.
