    I honestly have a soft spot for Marika - from my perspective, it appears : she was chosen the be a god by this great power. She thinks she knows what’s best for everyone. She makes a lot of strong choices, eliminates threats to the erd tree/golden order. She begins to doubt the greater will and the golden order. And potentially, creates an insanely complex plan to bring the end of her age and her offspring (unless it be one of them to rise to power, via the “may the strongest win” message throughout the game).
    Because as you see at the end, she’s imprisoned in the tree for what she did. And it almost seems like she birthed Melina to do her bidding outside the tree, and lead a tarnished to becoming Elden lord and killing the Elden beast.

    • @Haydentrudyjones
      @Haydentrudyjones ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Or perhaps her desire to shatter the ring only came after Godwyn’s death, as he was her first born under the golden order. Possibly the straw that broke the camels back. And she then began her plan to end the age of the golden order, by shattering the Elden ring and throwing the lands between into disarray.

    • @lockekappa500
      @lockekappa500 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      She's definitely not the villain in this story, despite the fact you (kind of) fight her as the last boss. I think Radagon coming out and defending the tree is the part of her that was still indoctrinated that she's tried to wrestle away this whole time. I always thought the most interesting thing about the lore in this game was the duality of Marika. (probably because I don't truly understand it also) Always love me a mysterious woman.

    • @Haydentrudyjones
      @Haydentrudyjones ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@lockekappa500 I found it strange, radagon is (from my memory) the only main boss you encounter that doesn’t speak to you when you approach - my thought on that, was it 1.) supports the theory of he being a mimic tear perhaps, or 2.) Marika and radagon are essentially empty shells being puppeted by the greater will via the Elden ring. Marika hangs lifeless and shattered, up until radagon “appears” and the Elden ring lights up inside him.
      Also… I found it also interesting, we see radagon is turned into the Sacred Relic sword, but after defeating the Elden beast, Marika’s shattered body is still in the erd tree. So are they 2 separate entities/bodies?

      I disagree with the *concept* of good and evil really doesnt apply here I think that if you look at the world and what is happening this whole scenario was about decisions, we are looking at this world warped by thousands of years of time. You must envision that their world would not be so devastated compared to what it looks like now, the decisions of Marika were in the hopes that she could break her stalemate with the other factions in this world and bring another faction up to the strength of her other servants (ie: you the tarnished). But just because she is a *god* doesnt mean that she doesnt suffer like a mortal does, and those bad decisions had consequences inside of how their universe works which is why she had no idea how this would have affected their plane/planet.
      From this, it can be deduced that Martin’s history culminated in Queen Marika breaking the titular Elden Ring and extending to the stalemate of the Shattering war. The fact that these events took place 5,000 years ago offers a new perspective on the Demi-Gods. For instance, it implies that General Radahn has been afflicted with the Scarlet Rot Malenia unleashed on Caelid for much longer than most think. Five thousand years spent devolving into madness is unthinkable, so it makes sense why Radahn is feasting on the corpses of his enemies and friends.
      screenrant.com/elden-ring-shattered-timeline-george-rr-martin-canon/#:~:text=The%20developer%20made%20it%20clear,the%20Lands%20Between%20into%20chaos.
      By extension, the detail clarifies how long Malenia has been slumbering under the Haligtree, waiting for her twin brother Miquella. It adds more weight to what she tells the Tarnished before the boss fight, “I dreamt for so long.” The five thousand-year detail also shows how long Ranni has been working to bring her Age of Stars. By this measure, the Night of the Black Knives is ancient history, and Ranni has inhabited the body of the Snow Witch doll, plotting to murder her Two Fingers, explaining fleeing their Divine Tower, for longer than normal humans can understand. The ordinary people of Elden Ring’s world have suffered most of all, and the clarification of the timeline makes their suffering even more extraordinary. It's clear to see why many of the wandering nobles and castle servants are withered and frail.

    Radagon was called a Champion. But all those who fought against Liurnia(Rennala) were named 'Champions of Gold'. This is not a real Military position or Rank.(like General Radahn, Praetor Rykard, Commander O'Niell etc.) Radagon was literally nothing more than a strong soldier whereas Godfrey was known as Lord of the battlefield even before he became Elden Lord.

  • @kokocarillo9931
    @kokocarillo9931 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    About The Radagon is Marika: There is a theory that Radagon may also be a shadow of Marika. Similar to Maliketh but probably more superior. One of the reasons is that Radagon is associated with wolves (and the two shadows we see are wolves; Maliketh and Blaidd). It’s very interesting. Hence he is a part of Marika (or was born from a part of her) but has a separate will. This would explain how they are the “same person” but why Marika wants you to kill both of them but Radagon tries to stop you (and Marika shattering the ring while Radagon tried to repair it contradict each other). Yeah, the soulsborne (and Sekiro) games have complicated lore, but there are fun to piece together!!! Hope to see more videos like this in the future!!!

    Honestly I’ve always believed radagon was his own person, but he was eventually taken in. There is an item description of a smithing hammer that basically says there was a great champion who had started a revolution because of the poor poor conditions and treatment. It didn’t go well, he probably died or was severely wounded. There is something about his red locks being from the fire giants and some other stuff of him being forcibly taken or killed or something.
    I think Castle Morne(on the weeping peninsula) WAS that rebelión. Idk how, or why but I honestly feel like radagon was somehow there to help with the rebellion. And the Lionhearted Misbegoten on the graveyard would be the resting place of where radagon would fall at the hands of Godfrey. Marika would’ve probably already planned to let Godfrey go, so she was used up the body and image of radagon to be a placeholder and peacetime consort for the time.
    Now for why him and marika are the same? Frick if I know, I think that it was a curse by the fire outer god(the eye in the chest of the last fire giant)because of the genocide she had issued onto the fire giants and curse on the last one of them.
    Radagon might have been a descendant of the fire giant and a hard worker back when he was truly himself. Now he despises his red locks, because of the now mutual hate of the giants Marika had for them now that they are one.
    If in the dlc, they touch on Radagon’s past and it reveals something sorta similar? I. Am. Him.
    Anyways, great reaction and very cool!

    My first time seeing this Vaati video, but I've seen a handful of a few from my country's producers, I was eager for you to see the full extent of the complexity of this lore.
    My simple solution to the idea of Radagon marrying Rennala is to end the southwestern war against the royal capital, thus establishing a certain amount of control/peace, I think the return was more a call either from Greater Will or the connection between Radagon and Marika (because he wanted to keep things and he felt that Marika didn't) for things to be secured, I think even the children are part of that guarantee plan, so I think that's why it was absolutely sudden and unexplained. Anyway, I love watching Fromsoftware game lore and I'm happy to see her following too

    Yay she’s finally here!
    By the way - Ranni stole the fragment of death to either 1.) simply free herself of the greater will’s control by killing her body (she needed to also kill another person simultaneously as well *Godwyn* to only kill her body and not both body & soul- hence why Godwyn’s soul died and body lived in undeath) or… 2.) Ranni knew that by killing Godwyn and freeing herself to pursue her own ambitions, she would by dominoe affect incite the destruction of the golden order and the shattering of the Elden ring. Paving the way for her to bring in the age of stars.
    And to add on to even that, there are theories that Marika was responsible for all of it. Including allowing Ranni to steal the fragment of death, because she deep down had doubts in the golden order and greater will. But was a prisoner to it because the Elden ring literally becomes a part of her (remember radagon’s boss fight?). So the only way she could incite the end of her age and the beginning of a new one, was the shatter the previous and incite war.
    Also - another crazy theory I found intriguing, was that Marika was from the eternal cities. And Radagon is actually a variation of the mimic tear.

    I believe that Marika and Radagon are the same person. Remember, the demigods are capable of creating "clones" or "projections" of themselves. Example, the omen brothers. Morgot you fight 3 times, first 2 as Margit. Mohg you fight 2 times. Another evidence, the cutscene before the Radagon fight, it was Marika that was shackled in the piece of the Elden Ring inside the Erdtree, and then her hair turns red and you fight Radagon.

    unfurtunately, the parasite theory of the elden beast and great tree is born from a wrong translation from japanese, the great tree and erdtree are the same, and life began with the elden beast descent. The beast then transformed into the crucible and when the first creatures seized its power in the form of the elden ring it transformed again into the erdtree. (the crucible is depicted always as a group of saplings in game)

    Hey! I've been scrolling through Vaati related stuff, and lately I've been working on my own lore theory that I reccomended to Vaati, which is that the Flame of Frenzy is corrupted Black Flame, all the fingers make up 4 hands, and the Two Fingers originate from the Three Fingers, so on and so forth. Just thought I'd get that idea out there, because I havent seen anyone talk about those connections. @sinsofthelastdawn8942 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! If you're curious, here's the comment. It's kinda long, and I don't get into everything, but I am really dedicated to this theory.
      "Hey Vaati, I have a theory I've been working on. It's related to the Gloam-Eyed Queen, Rykard, Ranni, Maliketh, Melina, and the fingers. I was watching a playthtough from Aegon of Astora, and as I was watching him go through Mt. Gelmir, something hit me. The Godskin Noble boss may at first seem random. However, at further inspection, it seems as though the Gloam-Eyed Queen and her associates would have reason to have allied with Rykard and Ranni, for it is said in the Blasphemous Claw description that Rykard had planned on challenging Maliketh, who is the one who eventually slayed the Gloam-Eyed Queen. Assuming that Melina is a reincarnation of the Gloam-Eyed Queen, and that to this day they are still allied as "business associates", it could be that the Gloam-Eyed Queen was attempting to take the Rune of Death to restore her black flame to its original power. Now why do I assume that the Black Flame has been weakened? Well, it is stated that the Gloam-Eyed Queen was an Empyrian. Empyrians have loyal Shadows. I don't remember where I made this connection, but I believe that the Rune of Death was what the Gloam-Eyed Queen had once had, and Maliketh was originally her shadow. Perhaps Marika didn't remove the Rune of Death from the Elden Ring, but plucked it from her corpse by persuading her very own shadow to turn on her by killing her two or more fingers, sending Maliketh in a maddened state. This would explain why Gurranq refers to his service as a curse, rather than a blessing of order.
      Secondly, I had made another connection. Outside of the Volcano Manor, you find the remnants of Leyndell's invasion force, but they've all been consumed by the Flame of Frenzy, or "Chaos Flame". Keep this term of reference in mind. Ranni uses the fingerslayer blade to take control of her own fate, gaining the power of her two fingers. If Marika had slain the fingers of the Gloam-Eyed Queen, (Marika might have had a fingerslayer blade herself because of her loose connection to Nokron, or possibly the Nameless Eternal City) Marika could have used that power to corrupt the black flame. Now, this may be a stretch, but I believe that the Flame of Frenzy is the Black Flame, corrupted by Marika, much like how Deathblight is the corrupted fragment of the Rune of Death that was stolen by the Black Knives.
      Now, I should also say that the Gloam-Eyed Queen's fingers may not have actually been slain, but interfered with by the Greater Will, and this is the more solid theory than if the fingers had been killed, and here's why. We've seen that there was a cut-ending where the player combines fingers to make a whole hand. I know I'm referring to cut content, but hear me out. We know that the fingers can move locations, perhaps explaining the depiction of them having "legs" on the Two Fingers Heirloom. Ranni had moved her two fingers away from her divine tower. Following the theory that the Flame of Frenzy is corrupted Black Flame, and that the fingers can be connected to make a full hand, perhaps it's reasonable to think that the fingers, once upon a time, were all connected at some point, and that it's possible for fingers to split from their hands.
      The Two Fingers serve the Greater Will, yet are corrupted in their guidance. The Three Fingers are quite directly against the Greater Will, as if they seek revenge for losing their fate, and their beloved Empyrian. I think that instead of killing the fingers, Marika separated the fingers from the whole hand, taking control of the Two Fingers, and controlling Maliketh through them. By using Maliketh to kill the Gloam-Eyed Queen, she sealed Destined Death, and left the Black Flame with no guide to follow, no path to walk. The Two Fingers, now connected to the Greater Will, corrupted the power of the Three Fingers, turning its once Death-drenched power stagnated and feral. Thus, using this logic, we can assume that any fingers seperate from their full hands, are fingers that had either chosen, or been influenced to oppose the order they had once fully served.
      There are 6 Divine Towers, each with their respective Two Fingers. 6x2 is 12, with the Two Fingers and Three Fingers making 17. Mohg and Morgott shared their power in one set of Two Fingers, and every other demigod has Two Fingers devoted to their runes. Except Miquella. Let's look at the name of the DLC. "Shadow of the Erdtree". Again, this may be a stretch, but perhaps this is a play on words, using the reference to Shadows and Empyrians to communicate a message. Connecting that same relationship to the Two Fingers and the Greater Will, you could say that fingers are the equivalent to an Empyrian's shadow. Perhaps, in this DLC, we should expect to find Miquella's Three fingers, making the full 20 fingers.
      Final thing. Ranni's body depicts that of the Snow Witch in appearance. If that's true, than whoever the Snow Witch was, she had four arms, and thus, four hands. That's 20 fingers. Perhaps this Snow Witch is a much more powerful asset than we had once thought. Maybe even the God of a previous age. The manifestation of night's dark fate. There's more I could add to this, but I'm getting a little lost on my thoughts right now. However, I thought this was an important connection to make, and that perhaps you can use this information to form a theory of your own, and even make a video about it."

    Maybe stop talking over the video and pay attention and you wouldn't have to keep pausing and asking a question that was already answered
