About the question about why Raya Lucaria is "sinking", if you pay attention to the map when it is fully complete, Liurnia is right above the Scarlet Rot Lake underground. That could be a really big reason why it's sinking, Vaati did mention it in his Scarlet Rot Lore video. Love the idea about the twin moons effecting tides though!

Yeah really great call out about the rot lake! myyyy question is (or just food for though) is the rot lake hot? what is the humidity like down there? is it enough to impact the soil up top? just more silly thoughts since I know these are all theories! I'm just out here rooting for mine 😂

@@itsjavachip From my experience, whenever I was down at the lake of rot, it had this steam that would come up from the lake. That could be a reason why it is sinking since it is heating up the actual soil above it. As well as, if memory serves me right, you can see the bottom of Raya Lucaria when you are in the Lake of Rot. There's a possibility that both this theory and your theory are working in conjunction to sink the Academy altogether!

20:56 When it comes to the King Consort discussion, it appears to be a translation error.
Radagon's title in Japanese is "王配 (Ō hai)" which is difficult to translate. "王 (Ō)" is the word that applies to any kind of royalty (it is the masculine word, the word for female royalty is "女王 (Joō)'). It is most often used for king, but it can also be translated as monarch, sovereign, potentate, or prince.
Next, "配 (hai)" is the weird one. All the research I've done comes out to it meaning both distribute; exile; ration, but the more relevant ones of spouse; wife; husband; partner, or, most importantly consort.
In summary, Japanese is hard because every Kanji has 20 different ways it can be translated because Japanese is a context heavy language. My best guess is the translator wasn't super familiar with how royal titles work and made a simple mistake. Translators aren't perfect, but they deserve all the respect in the world, because in my opinion what they do goes sorely underappreciated.
If anyone wants to check my source, it is the dialogue from Miriel, Pastor of Vows (big turtle).
The English dialogue is: ""Radagon left Rennala to return to the Erdtree Capital, becoming Queen Marika's second husband and King Consort."
    The Japanese is: "彼はレナラ様を捨て、黄金樹の王都に戻り、女王マリカの王配、二番目の夫となり"
or in Romaji: "Kare wa Renara sama o sute, ōgonju no ōto ni modori, joō Marika no ō hai, ni banme no otto to nari"

My take on the flooded town: #1 Liurnia is essentially an over flooded reservoir which has resulted in the soil becoming more muddy (loose) and #2 Not to heavily spoil anything but the Lake of Rot is literally right underneath the academy, so all of those fumes just eroding the undersoil away and weakening the surrounding town isn't too out there.....also the giant rock (Glintstone) in the middle of the lake of rot.....is the foundation stone the very academy is built on.

@@itsjavachip I think it has something to do with the rot itself containing VOCs (volatile organic compounds). I mean the Lake of Rot is a stagnant lake full of all kinds of decay and gods-know-what-else plus VOCs are responsible for the odors. When I ventured down in there I could only imagine the smell. Interesting thing though: some VOCs are used in products we use everyday....like.....PERFUMES....the perfumers in Elden Ring would have a field day down there.

If going with the idea that Radagon and Marika are the same person it could be appropriate for him to be called king consort as he’s just the split male version of her. If it’s a secret she wanted to maintain she would name her other male self as such.

To answer the "King Consort title" statement from 8 month ago, both Godfrey and Radagon bear the title of King Consort because while Marika bears the functioning status of queen her status goes beyond that of a conventional queen. She is in essence a living god thanks in part to her playing host to the Elden Ring itself thus her status as queen bears far more weight than in real life while also enforcing, that in the Lands Between, the title of King Consort functions the same as Prince Consort in real life. At least that's my take on the whole titles/status conversation.

32:54 Yes, you saw the body, but nobody in Chat told you to pay attention or that that was Ranni´s original body. Ranni later says she slew her "own flesh" Nobody pays attention to these details the first time they play. Vaati has been doing these things for years.
42:56 The inmortal serpent´s name is Eiglay. That´s why the temple at center of Mt. Gelmir is called Eiglay temple, and it was dedicated to its worship..
50:20 You´re right, pure gold looks yellower. Someone knows her jewelry. That looks more like an alloy of copper and steel.
53:17 "Did I know that?" Chat told you to look up. You did, but you didn´t understand what you were looking at. The hole in there, is the egg from where Miquella nurtered the Haligtree. This egg is kidnapped by Mohg and is the egg that you see in Mohg mauseleum, where Miquella´s body rests, for now, we´ll have to wait and see what the DLC brings.

So a couple things to note:
1: Moghwyn kidnapped Miquella (his half brother) cause he is a straight up creep, and wanted Miquella to be his and his alone. Also wanted to make Miquella acend to godhood with Mogh as his "consort".
2: Liurnia is coincidentally right above the whole of lake of rot, which likely explains why its soooo...just messed up and foggy and "sunken" looking.
And finally: Melina is heavily heavily HEAVILY implied to be Rannis former teacher and the original snow which, but also someone known as the "Gloam Eyed Queen". There are vids explaining why this theory has some solid proof. Hope that helps clear some stuff up, and thank you for uploading this! ❤

      1. You sure about that? Of course Mohg is insane and clearly has some nasty attachement to Miquella, but you make it sound a bit too simple. If we take Malenia's word for it, Miquella is the best candidate for godhood, so it only makes sense for an upstart to target him specifically. He also is one of the most beloved people in all of Lands Between, so a lot of people, including one of the strongest warriors, would come after him. If Mohg wants to keep him, he better take it seriously
On the final one I don't have a lot of ground to stand on since I haven't looked into it, but my gut instinct is high skepticism.

@@SamuelPulkkinen-jp8ev I agree with you. Plus Miquella was the most vulnerable one. We know Outer Gods want to have an Order on the Lands Between and want to bring about an age for themselves. We saw that with Marika and the Greater will (their Order being the Golden Order). The formless mother is no exception. But Mohg is not an empyrean, so he cannot be her vessel. The most fearsome one (who happens to be asleep and vulnerable) was Miquella. So it only makes sense why he kidnapped him specifically. Malenia is too powerful and was at war, Ranni was who knows where (we actually know but they didn’t). But Miquella- he was in the Haligtree asleep. Easy target. There was no implication that Mohg was sexual at all with Miquella. That’s mainly fans jumping to conclusions because they either thought too much about the worse possible situation out of fear, or fans who are creeps and weirdos.
And about Melina. I don’t believe there was any implication that she was the teacher of Ranni. Gloam-eyed Queen, yes. Malenia’s and Miquella’s sister, yes. Ranni’s teacher who uses ice when she herself uses holy and is associated with flames? No. I know there’s a theory that Melina and Ranni might’ve been twins or the same person (similar to Marika and Radagon with the latter). But that was mainly popular in the first couple months after ER’s release. After fans begin searching deeper (int both lore within the game, and game files), most seemed to have started leaning to Melina being the Gloam-eyed queen and sister of the cursed Twins for multiple reasons. There are some good videos on them (Vaati goes over a bit of Melina being the sibling of the twins in his Miquella video I believe). So I think your gut instinct was correct. At least imo.

What just dawned on me while watching this video is that since Miquella has in many ways a likeness to Griffith from Berserk, might Malenia be made in parts to be like Casca? For those who don't know, she was the most capable female warrior in the whole series and had deep, deep aspirations to serve Griffith and be *his sword.*
"I am Malenia, *Blade of Miquella.* "

    • @0thImpact
      @0thImpact 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Given Miyazaki's affinity for Berserk, plus the fact that the Prisoner class is a big reference to Griffith, this is probably not a huge stretch.

    • @kokocarillo9931
      @kokocarillo9931 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

It would make sense since Elden Ring (and Miyazaki’s other works) draw from Berserk. Even areas in the games may be inspired by locations in Berserk. Leyndell might be inspired by Falconia, the Haligtree (architecture wise) might be inspired Elfheim. We already know Gwyndolin and Lothric are inspired by Griffith (we explains why their look quite androgynous). Miquella seems to be the spiritual successor of those two, so he’s probably inspired by Griffith too (Miquella’s cocoon also looks like the Egg Griffith was in during his rebirth). So Malenia being inspired by Casca makes absolute sense. Like you said Malenia is “The blade of Miquella”. And Casca wanted to be Griffith’s sword (which makes what happened to her in the eclipse even more tragic and horrific). We already know Malenia’s helmet is inspired by Farnese’s helmet during the lost children and conviction arc of Berserk. There is probably more (and some that may be revealed in the DLC) that might have driven influence from Casca. If a theory is right (where Miquella might betray Malenia in the DLC), then that would also be a Casca and Griffith reference. But that’s a very good and valid conclusion my friend. Let’s wait and see what the DLC has in store for us!!!

Java at 12:06 you ask "what is the crucible". I clearly wasn't in chat at this point lmao but the idiom you're referring to harkens back to weaponsmithing wherein you take the metals you wish to smelt down, plop them into a container which is then placed into a furnace to heat up. This container is a crucible.
If the metal can be melted down to a near-liquid, then this is typically a cup-like shape and it's poured into a mold after it has been sufficiently heated up.
If the metal can only be brought to a white-hot, but still solid shape, then this typically looks like a box and is usually shattered or peeled away in order to get this ultra hot metal out and onto the anvil where it's then subsequently hammered into a big ol' sword.
Either way, something rough and full of impurities goes in, is exposed to heat (metaphorical pressure of a trying time in your life), and something-with significantly fewer impurities ready to be turned into something beautiful or deadly-comes out (you after g o i n g t h r o u g h i t).
If you want to get deep into metaphorical speculation; the fact that horns, feathers, etc are results of creatures who have come FROM the crucible, lends itself to the idea that the Golden Order sees these as "remaining impurities". Those who're more charitable to the indigenous beings of the Lands Between might view these as products of refinement (a fantastical version of natural selection). In fact, if these "Aspects of the Crucible" were inferior, why would some of Godfrey's mightiest soldiers (Crucible Knights) emulate them? I've rambled enough.

With the omens, I think something this is misunderstood in this game… is that there are no more births. And part of the erd tree and golden order, was control over birthing rights/rites. Essentially, an omen is a child born of the erd tree that during its conception, was touched or blessed or cursed by the primordial crucible(the ancient tree beneath the erd tree). So people in the lands between can’t mate, only Marika had rights over birthing new beings directly from the erd tree. And the idea of the omens, is they are an omen that the erd tree is growing weak, and the crucible’s effects are coming through once again. Hence why the golden order smear campaigned them and they are born outside Grace.

We can thank for this our beloved author George R.R Martin. He is author of all "pre-shattering" lore. He just loves good family drama mixed with degeneration (like in Mogh or Rykard case for example) and moral corruption.
This is all really well though out and very well written. Sometimes straightforward, sometimes leaving very big space for interpretation and speculation.
And sometimes there are really hard topics touched. Like in Mogh case, which is the most despicable character in game. Pure evil.
He (and Miyazaki) are also big trolls. All names starts with G or R or M. Just like George R.R. Martin. ;) His involvement in the game is immortalized in characters names itself. And in players minds struggling to remeber all genealogy. ;)

So if you are in the middle of an explanation to say who the king is and why they came to power, then calling them the king consort shows exactly that while being correct, even if in day to day parlance you'd just call him the king.

The Lands Between aren't a matriarchy. They're ruled by whoever manages to rule them. There were other gods and rulers before Marika and the Greater Will, including rulers that weren't even human, like Placidusax. During the reign of the Golden Order, we know of at least two Empyreans who were male, aka Godwyn and Miquella.
That being said, gender seems to be fairly fluid for gods and demigods in Elden Ring. You've got Marika/Radagon, who are the same being but possessing both a male and female persona, you've got Miquella who was also St. Trina, then you've got Ranni who I guess technically used to be female but is now a witch-shaped doll with four arms and two faces. And while Rykard might have been born male, I don't think his live-in Serpent cosplay has a gender.

The Crucible, as I understand it, was/is a bit more than a period of time in which life must prove itself worthy of life and precursor of the Erdtree. I cannot shake the idea that the Crucible was/is the Forge of the Giants. Why? It is not just the knot and vibe decorative motif, there is also the extreme damage that resembles the same kind of damage made by the Three Fingers when it struggled against being imprisoned. Looking at the bottom of the Forge we can see something had once broke a whole and either attacked or fled through the hole. For whatever reason, I see this to have possibly been the site of some terrible separation or splitting of something big.
Uhhh… or maybe the location where red-gold grace bearing meteors were purified to make gold grace. There is other stuff, lots of depictions of revered potted plants that might indicate some ritual to literally create the Erdtree.. idk

Marika, or whoever bears the Elden Ring, is called the god.
The mate of the god is a Lord. The lord is granted the authority of a King by the god. The Lord is the ruler, second only to the god…

As for the King consort debate, and I didn't even consider this at the time, part of the issue may simply be a flaw in translation. It's quite possible that there is no proper way to describe what Radagon is in Japanese translation, so consort was the closest. And since Kings and Queens are also not Asian concepts, the proper use of consort and diminishing the higher ranked royal title is misunderstood

@@itsjavachipor they have a different system in Leyndell where when you're married to the regent you hold what's considered an equal title lessened with the moniker of consort because here me out it's a different country than England and can operate under a different system than what you know because the English rules don't have to be the rules for the Lands between

      Very unlikely.
Miyazaki games tend to insinuate that divine form is something shepherded by women:
-- Only women have enough divine strength/fortitude to hold the sparks of the first flame (and thus they are Firekeepers)
-- Ceaseless Discharge is the youngest brother to the daughters of chaos but is unable to maintain a humanoid form and is overtaken by chaos, turning into the form we see him in
-- You need a maiden to commune with Grace (why you can't use runes to level if you don't agree to help Melina)
      -- etc.
And that men can only share partially in the glory of the divine through conquest:
-- Gwynn only becomes Lord through defeat of the dragons and even then is only the Lord of Cinder (a measly byproduct of fire)
-- Godfrey only becomes lord after Marika takes him as her first consort and proves his worth in battle. Despite this, he and his warriors are described as the first Tarnished because Marika alone has divine power and strips him of Grace

    • @ix7958

@@0thImpact but that would imply that marika has more power then the the elden beast and thats just wrong, she may be the third most powerful being with standing and influence, but ultimatly, she served and was imprisoned by the greater will who at this point in the game where we come into play, is still ruleing over the land between, but as we can also tell the greater will was losing influence and control ever since marika revolted and shattered the ring, in which radagon did not like and baisacally dominated the consiousnous of their body
