The quality of the materials and workmanship are what makes the difference between the name brand and rip-off brand.
When a company hires another company to manufacture a product they have designed, the factory is hired to do a certain level of quality.

I've got to say, the constant China-bashing is quite entertaining. It's all talk, but where's the proof when it comes to allegations of forced labor? Meanwhile, I'm living in the US, and let's be real, our government is doing its fair share of window-dressing when it comes to labor practices. We tout ourselves as a beacon of democracy, but scratch beneath the surface and you'll find some uncomfortable truths. It's almost as if we're trying to distract from our own issues by pointing fingers at China. Newsflash: China has been outsmarting the West for years, and I've got to admire their strategic prowess. Looks like the tables have turned, and we're getting a taste of our own medicine. Perhaps it's time for some introspection instead of finger-wagging?

In the two years of buying from Temu, I've never had any problems apart from once there was a missing non essential component which they replaced the whole item and told me to keep the original, so i ended up having two usable items for the price of one and gave one to my friend.
I have bought crafting tools, houshold items, shoes and clothes from Temu and never had a problem with quality.
All items purchased have been exactly as described and clothes being true to size and good quality with no irregular stitching or unfinished edges. However, it is advisable to check the size guide before buying and reading the description to find out if it is a singular item or a pair. I was looking for fake leather cuff gauntlets for my grandson's halloween costume and i was about to buy it but i looked at the pictures and it was printed on the picture to order two if you wanted a pair. So it pays to take your time and read the ad carefully. Their delivery times are usually five to ten days to the UK and i'll continue to buy from Temu until either they or I cease to exist.

Same experience here from Temu - delivering to an address in Australia. I also shop Amazon.
Difference between the two - Amazon delivers awfully fast within 24 hours or next day delivery while Temu can take anywhere up to 2 weeks in some orders. Both companies offer order tracking to the door which is great although Amazon uses its own delivery services while Temu tend to use Australia Post which is not the most reliable of courier services (you can be at home waiting throughout the day but the delivery van will claim that no one was in when they called and you will have to go and pick up the parcel yourself from the postal office in a different location in your own time adding to your inconvenience).
Also, clothing articles like T-shirts, trousers, belts, socks, medical dressings, and some basic commodities like food and medical supplies etc through Amazon tend to be more expensive than through Temu which can be up to less than half the offering price - or even greater from Amazon.
On the other hand, I tend to trust getting electronic (digital) equipment eg USB memory sticks through Amazon than through Temu where sources are a bit suspect in quality and performance claims. Other articles like bags and cases, comparable prices in similar items and models can be found through both companies.
Finally, virtually all purchase through Temu incur free delivery while one has to be judicious when choosing an item through amazon - if it is an Amazon Prime product, it incurs no delivery charges but if not, one can be charged delivery fees (at least here in Australia for locally sourced items through Amazon). Reading the find lines is imperative.
Like all shopping habits, one has to choose and shop wisely, checking through reviews, read in between the lines especially when shopping on-line as images can deceive - not intentionally but by the way in which images appear through the camera lens and on-screen. Having a tape rule on the side helps in gauging sizes of products. One should always avoid making assumptions - which can lead to getting something that only exists in our own imagination.
As always, whether shopping on-line or in-store, applying the rule of "caveat emptor" - "buyer beware" - and you get what you pay for - should always be exercised. Blaming the seller is a cowardly way out of taking personal responsibility if one has not taken all care and personal enquiries before deciding on purchasing something.

I'm into making quilts. I buy some things from Temu but not fabric because what's offered is cheap grade and seller says cotton in the headline, but in the description from the seller, it often says polyester or poly-cotton blend. I have complained to Temu about this. Cotton threads and embroidery threads are great. Their polyester threads are great, also quilting rulers and rotary cutters, plus other notions.
Let's talk Uyghur slave labor. Yes, it's true in the growing and processing of cotton. China is the largest global producer of cotton. Quilters want cotton high end fabric for quilting. High end quilting fabric brands have their fabric printed and finished in South Korea, Japan, and India. These textile manufacturers mostly buy their cotton greige (high quality woven fabric with no color or finishing) from China. Some is from India and the USA. Cherrywood Fabrics with highly advertised "hand dyed" fabric in Colorado, buy their high-quality cotton muslin from China.
Most China's textile mills are located in many provinces, including Guangdong, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu. The major Chinese regions where cotton is a prime crop are the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, the Yangtze River Basin (including provinces of Jiangxi and Hubei), and the Huang-Huai Region (mainly in provinces of Hebei, Henan, and Shandong).
What's my point? The cotton T-shirts, clothing, underwear, is mostly from China, often grown and harvested by Uyghur slave labor. Grow your own cotton or make sure the cotton is not from China to avoid slave labor.

Amazon & Temu are for transactional buyers… however it is easier to be scammed by a transactional consumer relationship. It is also less likely for consumers to concerns to get resolved. You become just another number which is why smaller shops like mine do well.
We take the time to build relationships with the consumer and tailor products to meet the consumers needs. Smaller shops and customers have reciprocal relationships. Customers are more likely to leave satisfied because the business owner cares more about brand, loyalty and identity than larger transactional sellers. I honestly would rather purchase from someone that actually remembers my birthday and cares about my birthday and asked how my day was then to purchase from somebody that has an internment camp. I worked with my boss on one particular client. The client is a major American direct sales company that's over 100 years old (not hard to figure out who that is). They always wanted prices cheaper and we always had to go back to the factories and see how we could get prices of plastic down to about $1.00 a piece at a time when plastic components were rising. But in our client's catalog, the item would sell for around $15.00. Knowing how the pipeline of products from Chinese factories to my front doorstep, I never trusted products on Temu. The rules oblige the sellers to give your money back if you do not like the product or it was sold at a higher price than on another platform. So, I am happy with Temu!

All my reviews for Temu were one star for the majority of the junk they were sending. They hide the one star reviews on page 50 and probably all fake 5 star reviews on the first 10 pages. 😮

The main concern with temu is the personal security of the buyers.
What is the main purpose of the cheapest price in the beginning beyond the business strategy?

I like some of the clothes I ordered. Their art supplies are cheaper so you can try something for less. Some of the local warehouse items are reasonable but some are inflated. I have also returned for credit. I don't mind buying from Temu. I would buy the same things on Amazon for at least 3x the price.

The root of the problem is not Temu but its sellers, companies who are not capable of making quality products. Simply they make crap things. Temu should get rid of those sellers from its shop automatically is the number of complains reach a limit.

There is also another issue Temu is facing which can also ruin their business model. Many of the products sold on Temu are deadly. They contain amounts of toxic heavy metals like lead that's many times the legal limit in many of their products, especially clothing and children's toys. Their electronics have caused house fires and injured people from such poor quality manufacturing. Basically, Temu is selling dangerous and toxic products that I personally wouldn't take even if they paid me for to take them. I don't want to risk burning my home down or poisoning myself. BTW, this is being reported on a number of youtube channels and news networks that cover exposes of such practices, and backed by published findings of lab tests. I don't recall the specifics off the top of my head as this delves into chemistry and other topics outside my area of expertise, but the info is readily available by just searching for it.

Temu and Shein has ruined the American Dream. American businesses can't compete with those low prices and dealing with this horrible economy. People would rather buy a $5 top that lasts a month or 2 than spend's $35 or more in America.

People actually have 3 months to contact Temu for a refund instead of 1 month.
The 30 days price adjustment and $5 credit for late orders are also no BS!! I actually received $45 for that a couple of weeks ago because how they separate the orders, just a few items not on time.
Their customer service was not great before, but it’s definitely changed. The representative I talked last time lives in Wisconsin, not China.

I don't care where I get what I want as long as it is the lowest price. I literally don't care. You make a product and it's made in China. Then they make 100,000 more of it and sell it on the market as unbranded. I remember when the Hallmark Star Trek shuttlecraft was selling for $24.00. They were hard to get one. Then at a flea market I saw a guy with BOXES of them selling them for $10. So I got five more. Now they are worth around $5. Someone alleged that they made let's say 50,000 for the Hallmark stores and then ran another 100,000 to sell and people ordered them by the box fulls. The market was so saturated that the price plummeted. So I still own six of them and they are worthless. So, if I need something at a low price, I don't care who has it for what..... I worry about me.
Those sellers who think they are getting cheated can all stop selling on Temu and let the company fold. It won't happen. People like the low low price.

How people don't see there's always someone paying the price never ceases to sadden me. My example is not Temu, but Kmart. My husband was thrilled to find a long sleeve for 50 cents. Yes, 50 cents. This was back in 2016. He wanted to grab the t-shirt (there was absolutely nothing wrong with it). I said no and explained why. "If you walk backwards, in this line, from the store shelf to the factory, who do you think is not getting paid just for you to feel like you're scoring this amazing bargain?" We can't fight every battle, but some I pick. If the deal is too good to be true, the product might not really be garbage, it might be someone getting s....d over. This part of our culture just makes me so 😡

Well, say what you want, we will continue to buy from Temu. Overall we have had good products. The biggest problem is their (or their vendors) shipping. One or more orders get squeezed into a small package, and often gets crushed, or bend. We just ask for a refund and move on.
