Shout out to all the Amazon Drivers out there!!! I appreciate your hard work, dedication, and all that you do to make deliveries happen for us!!! AAA+!!!
Whenever I'm at home when a package is delivered, I always say Thank You to the delivery driver. I was doing that before I knew the drivers owned their vehicles.
Ups. As a past ups driver, 115 stops is Nothing! We do up to 500 stops during Christmas. 300 when it isn't. 115 is po-dunk cake walk go home in 4 hour day.
Being chased by porch pirates and unleashed dogs !🐕 They are probably on a timer, they sre promised a certain pay amount at start of each shift. If they take too long to unload the 300 something packages by certain time then they get docked pay. You get promised $20 an hour and if you don't complete all deliveries by end of shift you get pay deducted to $10 an hour instead of the promised $20 an hour. That's why Amazon delivery drivers always act like they are out of breath or getting chased by something.
I have never once returned a product. If it’s clothing that doesn’t fit, i just give it to a friend or family member, or i donate it. There’s always someone else who could use or need it.
If Amazon wants to reduce returns for clothing, force clothing manufacturers to stick to a standard size chart for the US market. If seller's clothes don't meet the size requirement, then they can't sell. Simple as that. I know my measurements to a T because I sew. And I read the size charts, read the fabric content (so I understand the stretch of the fabric and/or shrinkage), look at every picture of other customers wearing the garment I am considering, then read ALL the reviews. I really appreciate other women who put their measurements in their reviews, because when that happens, I usually don't return my items. But after spending a considerable amount of time critiquing each item I am considering buying, if I order 5 skirts intending to keep them all, I still average returning 2-3 of the 5, which either don't fit at all (size chart is completely wrong, usually too big because the manufacturer did not account for fabric stretch or shirring), or the fabric is different or of very low quality than the item description (or the item description lied, like said the fabric was cotton and it's modal) or the fit is just ridiculously wrong (waist band of a dress sits on top of my boobs, or sleeves are too short/long/uneven or something ridiculous like that). I bet if they forced manufacturers to adhere to a set size chart, returns for clothing would drop in 6 months significantly, as people figured out how to make that size chart work for them. It's why the guy in the video said brick and mortar stores like Macy's, Kohls, JC Penney only have a 7% return rate....because people know how Kohl's "SO" brand, Penney's "St. John's Bay" Brand fit them, because it's fairly consistent and the size chart has been in use for years.
Heck yeah! Yesterday I went to the mall and I was wearing a pair of size 6 shorts I bought last year. While I was there, I tried on a pair of size 8 jeans and they fit perfectly. I tried on another pair of jeans - different brand, but same style - also size 8 and I couldn't even get them past my knees! I tried on a dress size S that fit fine, and one by a different designer size M that was way too snug. Yet if my spouse tells me the waist/inseam size of his jeans, they will fit every time, he doesn't even have to try them on. Ditto if I know the neck/arm measurements of his shirt size. I makes me angry all the TIME women have to waste trying on clothing because sizes are all over the map.
*thunderous applause* 👏 👏 👏 I work as a dressmaker and a renegade tailor and this is so important 😪☝️ this vexation puts many people off of shopping altogether
Working in industry, though not for Amazon as a driver, one thing they are missing is not giving the drivers regions of work. UPS, DHL, FedEx, Royal Mail, - here in the UK - and the like give drivers regular routes to work. This enables the drivers to be familiar with the conditions of their environment, know when traffic is heavy in certain areas and learn short cuts that will save them time on their routes. This knowledge is priceless and can only be achieved with drivers delivering to the same region, day in day out. Also, having some way to feed back issues with the systems provided would be priceless and best if that system is delivered on a personal level, a member of staff at each location whom is responsible for acknowledging the feed back and then relaying it to those who can make the change. Finally, having a portaloo/a camping toilet, like those found in campervans/Winnebago's is the obvious solution for the lack of facilities available and this should be applied industry wide. To support this, onsite cleaners can be on hand to clear this at the end of shifts, making the vans ready for the next shift - this should be standard. Instead of chemical toilets, you could use compost toilets and then sell the biproduct to the fertilizer industry to support the facility of the toilets. That way it comes at little or no extra cost to the business, employees are happier in their work and you help facilitate the transition to the use of healthier fertilizer to grow crops for a more sustainable economy. A green touch that is on par with the ideology of Amazon and its founder Jeff Bezos.
UPS and FedEX may have regular routes but they still can't seem to deliver to the correct addresses. 90% of my packages never arrive without issue, and 20% not at all. And there is little I can do and they don't care, despite having paid for the delivery of my package to my house myself I'm not considered the customer, the shipper is, so my satisfaction is irrelevant, my receiving the package is irrelevant.
@@RoySATX You indirectly pay for a fraction of the delivery fees and yes shipping company will rather deal with the shipper than receiver for many reason.
Before you can solve a problem you have to think “who profits from this problem”. The goal isn’t to house feed or employ everyone b/c everyone getting free stuff wouldn’t be profitable for the few. I agree with you but had this revelation made clear a few years ago.
Same. It makes me reconsider all my life decisions since Amazon's been around. I also never knew these drivers were independent contractors. No wonder Bezos is a zillionaire.
Especially the drivers ? What good are the drivers without the warehouse workers pulling product getting the deliveries ready ? What good are they without the stockers ? What good is any of it without the website to order from ? What good is the website without the computer manufactures making your computer? What good are the computers without communication ? What good is any of it without electricity? LOL, especially the drivers.......
@@smf2072 yes, especially the drivers. They’re the ones going into crime areas, dealing with traffic idiots AND handling the boxes. The warehouse worker just stands there behind a conveyor belt. Although I never said they were not necessary, just that their job is a bit easier.
What area are you in? I only receive 20% of packages handled by UPS. If ordered through Amazon I get my money back, otherwise I just get screwed. I'm charged shipping but the shipper pays UPS, therefore UPS does not consider me the customer. UPS marks package as delivered, shipper sees the package was "delivered" and neither UPS nor the shipper care where it was actually delivered. It really is a nice scam.
Any time I’ve used ups in the last few years it wasn’t by choice, it was because I ordered through Walmart or target and certain items ship through them. I’ve had a few problems with ups, not so much with Amazon just because when I did have problems with my package I got my money back or they sent out another one.
UPS has failed me many times, including from amazon... FedEx? Not once. So I typically avoid anyone who ships strictly UPS, I avoid FedEx only shippers too if international due to fees unless they handle everything in the costs. Afaik only UPS will hold your 80lb package hostage at the request of the shipper for a signature... (pre-pandemic, I don't drive, I luckily live a 20 min walk from a UPS store but still I had to buy a dolly for that purchase, it was winter right after a storm too)
I'm an amazon driver currently. Amazon has been saying forever that they are reducing stop count but what they actually do is just group houses that are close. Some times in groups of 3 or 4 houses with like 6 packages total and they count that as 1 stop. It's still doable but in Arizona in the summer it sorta sucks

I’m a Driver in Arizona as well. The job is honestly super easy, the fact that these people complain about 113 stops and 150 packages is crazy. My routes consistently consist of 180 stops and 300+ packages and I get done quicker than most. The heat is no joke but the real problem is many drivers spend their day messing around on their phones and it ends up putting them behind on their route.
This approach on delivery isnt just an Amazon problem its an industry problem. I work for Costco as a trucker and they really do stretch their expectations to the edge on employees. In a 8 hour shift they will route the 1st load from central NJ to Long Island NY which, with traffic can take 8 hours alone round trip. Then they will give the driver a second load that may take an additional 4 hours. They route these days expecting them to be done in 8 hour shifts. many drivers will not take lunch and skip breaks. Keep in mind they ARE paid hourly but most drivers do not want to live at work and FEEL forced to spend half the day there.
Yes and its sad because they know your up against the log book and hours etc. but still get upset because of weather, snow, road closures due to accidents and the other delays. If I drove a rig for them, I'd tell them to doctor my log book themselves and be sure to have the next trailer double checked for safe operating brakes vs. force me the driver to take all the risks.
All I can say is I have NEVER encountered a delivery person (except for pizza) who has not been cordial or not gone out of their way to assist me with the packaging.
I am so thankful for the r ability to return things. I have a little trouble getting items where I live and it’s very frustrating especially when you’ve ordered like $200 worth of stuff. I use Amazon for most of my shopping because being legally blind stores can be overwhelming for me since I have hearing loss as well and I have trouble hearing customer service agents, so I’m very appreciative of their policy. I wouldn’t use it for any other purpose but that or if I ordered the wrong size of some thing for my son, but yeah, they make it so easy to get things done and get the things I need for my son and my house and myself. While I do appreciate your service, they really need to work better with their workers. The way they are treated is ridiculous. And that should be a violation of honestly OSHA standards because if you can’t go to the bathroom, get food, and things like that it’s putting too much stress on the workers mentally, physically, and the health consequences should be enough that Amazon, as much as they make can do way better than they are.
I used to return stuff. Now I just hang onto it becasue most of the time, I can re-use it for something else. Cheap clothes I just use for rags or house cleaning. A lot of things can be used for school projects or art projects by my kiddo. I even have my husband improvise on furniture. I mean, if it's total garbage, yeah, I'll return it, but that has yet to happen. I have been an Amazon Prime member now for 4 years. We even have a store called Bin Drop in our area that solely sells returned items!
On the routes Amazon drivers get today.. their break and lunch times are not built into route and Return times. Essentially Amazon does not expect drivers to take breaks anymore. They hand you 400 total packages to deliver to over 200 homes and expect you to finish in 6-7 hours. Everything is a metric and measured. That's why you're now seeing a trend of unionization of major corporations because people have had it with the abuse and greed of these companies.
@@Chad_Max Most get weeded out before they can become legal immigrants. That's why it looks like they are more successfully than native-born Americans. Especially if they were already rich or educated before coming to this country.
Just so you know at least at my DSP, you have to take two 15 minute breaks and a 30 min lunch. As in the delivery app actually forces you to take the break and won't let you continue delivering until the 30 min timer has passed.
I needed a micro SD card returned because it would not work. I couldnt figure out how to ship it safely, so I secured it in an SD card adapter that came with one of the many SD combos Ive bought through the years. When my replacement came, so did my SD adaptor. I was shocked... and actually quite impressed.
I used to be an Amazon Driver and I carried a "cooler" that I would use so I didnt have to try and find a bathroom. I am disabled so I knew I wasnt fast enough to be a driver but I gave it a shot. Its not a bad job if your fast enough.
In europe more and more company uses post automats which fits hundreds of packets. They usually locates in a busy area which opens 24-7 so you can pick up your delivery any time. I think this is the future and it's better for the enviroment.
If the customers are too lazy to go to a store - they are probably too lazy to go to a pickup point. You underestimate the laziness of far too many Americans. 😎
I’m a class a delivery driver for a foodservice company (union). Regarding driving, Amazon and box truck drivers make some of the most dangerous moves out there. Class A drivers are often trained to be extra cautious when we see those vehicles.
@That V8 Life I’m sorry to say that’s not true, the non-cdl holders are the most dangerous. Texting while driving, speeding, tail gating over in here in Florida . I’m a step van and I obey the law.
@That V8 Life I meant regular sedan drivers, trucks, little Prius, and those small cars that try to speed like hellcats, I’ve seen them down the road and always try to drive like van diesel.
@@photo-5207 You just have to verify your details with a few documents? to ensure that someone else isn't trying to use your card etc to complete a purchase.
Amazon should be fined for the landfill waste! Amazon should donate these items to charities that can be resold for extra money that can help others!!😇
the drivers would be passing bathrooms all the time...just stop at a grocery store for example as you are passing..even if you don't feel the need to go at the moment...there are 2 bathrooms within 3 minutes of my house for example that I can think of offhand....places where you won't be questioned for not being a customer....and a handful of others within 5 minutes where they may have an issue if you are not a customer.
The same problem occurs with big box stores. If something doesn’t sell, it goes to the landfill. Returns, go to the landfill. So don’t just blame Amazon. We need to clean up the whole mess of big box, stores and companies like Amazon.
They are cheap because that is what consumers want. And despite that they generally pay above industry average. There’s a reason Amazon continues to grow so much and people keep choosing to work for them
Regarding clothing returns, I assume the extra cost of returns would need to be compared to the costs of having a physical store (rent, utilities, employees, insurance, etc.). Not sure why they can’t just sell the returned clothes to outlets stores.

Wow, I had no idea how hard this was. I was one of those jerks who would pout if I didn’t get my package on time! I had no idea how hard it was. I rarely get an item sent to me late. They do an excellent job I could never do it!
My prime membership is up for renewal in 90 days. After being subscribed for several years, I think I’m done now. I’ll still use Amazon for infrequent purchases, so this isn’t some act of protest or anything like that, but it’s made me realize how much I take for granted without knowing what sinister stuff goes on behind the scenes. I have been using it less & less the past year regardless as I’ve been a lot more financially responsible since 2020 and it hurts a little but when I could have used that money to hammer my investments harder especially at this young age. The price increase definitely doesn’t sit well with me, and if not getting packages in 2 days or less is my biggest problem, I really do not have many problems worth fretting over. I’d much rather just keep my Costco membership which I get a much better ROI anyway.
Most times the delivery people receive a tip from me along with a fresh fruit or water. I always think about them on the road while waiting for the package to arrive. I also never return anything.
The delivering isn't just an issue with Amazon. Ups, fedex, usps, and all those big name delivering companies all have delivering issues. Workers are overworked and underpaid. Turn over rate is relatively pretty high
Amazon and also Walmart worksers soon to be outfitted with wearable tech to so called reduce workplace injuries. Funny thing, there will be wearables with microphones....Total control. People need to stop shopping at these businesses, it's the only reason they continue to exist. People bring it upon themselves.
I agree. I’ve been a truck drive for over 35 years. I learned my craft in the Army and even so in the Army my training never stopped until I was honorably discharged.
With those folks who order clothes in three different sizes in mind, I cannot figure out how DISPOSING of nearly ALL return items fits in any profitable business model
Clearly the clothes cost nothing to make when you look at how profitable they are. In the end they get to claim the millions in sales and returns is in a different area, and most don't return so if a shirt cost a dollar to make you spend 12, it costs 2 to return, times millions of clothes all those non returns pay for that return, they wont care where all those returns end up as long as they don't have to worry about it.
Amazon needs to be broken up! They punish small businesses. And all you see on LinkedIN is the employee excitement of opening new hubs, but no Unions and high turnover. Amazon sucks!
What they don't talk about, which is amazing to me, is that if something goes on sale on Amazon through the same seller and same item. If you ask for a price match they cannot, they tell you to return the item and reorder it, even if it's just for a few dollars. I bet you a lot of waste comes from this
@@awack_ Nor should they? You think it's better to waste shipping and return the item which they usually throw away or sell in bins? I understand price matching but it should be up to the seller. But if you think it's better just to return it, then I feel sorry for you
This so called safety camera/setup is not there for the dirver it is there for Amazon's safety in case of a lawsuit. What this tech does not reveal is the ability of drivers to react to safety protocol when they are tired/exhausted trying to keep up with the heavy workload.
i had a driver deliver to me and said amazon done care about them or there vehicles. that hey dont do well in cold weather, break down and other issues. was glad to give the poor driver at least got him to smile that day and thank him for doing good work.
Amazon also relies (or, at least, did so in 2020 when I worked for the USPS) on the United States Postal Service for Sunday deliveries. UPS did, too. As for the pee bottle issue, try being a USPS associate mail carrier (CCA). Delivering on routes you are unfamiliar with, with no map or GPS, plus the required Sunday UPS/Amazon deliveries where there is no route but you have a GPS, means you often don't know where to pee, and it can be very stressful. During the pandemic, a lot of gas stations wouldn't even let us go pee, and there were many other places that were the same. Now I work for Amazon at the KCVG "Air" sortation facility, where safety is both highly important and I see routine signs of it not being prioritized, even when a rule comes from a senior manager. When OMs, AMs and PAs don't follow the safety rules, and they push for speed, the associates tend to follow suit. It's human nature. A friend of mine who is a high-level OSHA inspector told me that Amazon is so safety focused because it was listed by OSHA as a severe violator and assessed heavy penalties.
I know FedEX drivers also use pee bottles, truckers, and many involved in transporting goods. That is not really a hardship, just folks work until the route is done and they are saving time so they can get home to loved ones. Pays the same no matter how long it takes for most workers and subcontractors.
@@krisreddish3066 Honestly, if you can do it without spilling, it's ok. The problem is that if you pee and spill, someone else may come into your fluid, and that could lead to the transfer of a disease. Just don't leave your bottle behind in a shared vehicle; that's absolutely unacceptable.
@@Garth2011 That is a tricky question but, no, everyone makes mistakes and those without common sense make more than other people. Just because they have a disability doesn't mean they should be punished for it.
I wish people would be more conscious when they make online purchases and only buy what they really need/they know they will keep. It’s really sad that most returns end up on landfills or burned.
I barely ever buy clothes online because of sizing. If Amazon (or anyone else) let me just put in my measurements and see clothes that fit, I'd be hooked. Why can't they just do that?
As an example, when I try on Levi jeans, I always get the same size and style. However, I have found that any two pairs of the same color, size and style to not be consistently sized, so I have to try on muliple pairs just to find the one that fits. I've also found that Levi the same size and style but different color are even more differently sized from each other. For brands like Abercrombie, I have to purchase a full size larger than other brands for anything to fit me. Nike shoes run at least a size small too (and narrower than other brands of the size labeled size). If clothing sizes could somehow be standardized within brands and between brands, what you're suggesting *might* be possible. Personally, I don't see that happening.
I used to have difficulty finding bathrooms on my route, I learned if you wear DEPENDS under your underwear; it helps you incase you can't get to bathroom fast enough and keeps your clothes dry. Another think, parks have bathroom and it is always free to everybody ( don't need to purchase anything out of guilt for using the bathroom). There is plenty of parks everywhere around all cities in each state. Another thing, when you go to gas station, use the bathroom whether you need to go or not and restaurant always have bathroom. You can purchase a $1.00 item and use bathroom guilt free. Grocery stores have bathroom, walk around and see if want to buy anything after using bathroom, if not just walk out. Always stop at bathroom first when you go into a store, take care of your business then do what you need to do. Rest stops have free public restrooms for travelers/public.
Lots of media outlets keep pushing out these videos from these employees. Clearly many different news outlets agree they go through too much and I’m glad to see their voice getting a stage.
I very seldom order on line because of the return issue. However, all the younger family members think nothing of ordering 3 sizes and two different colours of the same product. They just return it if it doesn't fit. So rather than focus on return expenses, start to focus on better product descriptions, pictures and measurements rather than sizes. Sizes vary so much by manufacturer it is impossible to know what size the product is. But if you put the body measurements that will give a better indication. I did order winter boots, because the on-line store actually told you how to measure the length of your foot and what size you should order depending upon that length measurement. I did it for myself and my daughter and both pair fit perfectly... but the size to order was two sizes larger than my normal shoe size.
The young black woman that was bit by a dog, and waited until after her shift was completed to seek medical treatment is totally amazing. That company truly dosen't deserve you ❤
"I've been injured on the job, I need to seek immediate medical attention. My delivery vehicle will be found at hospital adress XXXX" Stupid workers unaware of their rights.
As soon as a company takes away their return policy it fails as a business. Anytime I have been given an issue returning something I never return to that store again
I've been stung by a scam a few times now, with amazon and also other companies like Zappos, where a person will buy two similar products, like sneakers or phone cases. One may cost $30 and the other $80, for example, and they'll keep the $80 one but return the $30 one in the packaging for the $80 one, get the $80 refunded. It's very low risk to them, if caught they just say "Oops I made a mistake". The returned products go back into the warehouse and the next person to buy the $80 one gets the $30 one instead. They either realize it's the wrong one and also return it, but are left unhappy and may not reorder, or they think they were tricked by the seller with false advertising and just leave a bad review warning others not to buy products from that seller/brand, which hurts the totally innocent company who sells the more expensive product. Warehouse workers are rushed and don't check all that closely to notice it's the wrong one.
Having a regular Route helps as you have a knowledge of the area, where the rest rooms are located and you know the best way to get to a particular street or regular delivery address. Input from the drivers will help make the route safer, avoiding bad intersections or traffic, and not end up in a lake.
I enjoyed my time at Amazon, I do agree with most of the stuff, however as a consumer and someone out on the road, knowing that the drivers have a camera pointed at them ensures that they won’t be enticed to look at their phones
Whoever is doing vehicle route optimisation at Amazon why can’t you add a 1 to 5 scale on the app to let dsp driver provide their feedback , use NLP to identify issues and let the algorithm learn from the feedback . I understand that as a solution architect you cannot have operations experience but at least leverage technology
I never understood why don't they had a more warehouse sells for returns items, more donations even send to other poor countries they might able to use them.
Used to run trailers from Easton,pa to Hebron,ky,couldn't stop and had 4 hours off for the load back, amazon would call on off time and we had to download 2 tracking apps, when I quit the run the called 83 times in 4 hours telling me I couldn't quit
Not mentioned here is that many returns are caused by POOR packaging. They often ship in the thinnest box and packaging in order to be "green", but then energy is wasted by the return process. Every time I've returned stuff is because of shipping damage. Expensive Items shipped in plastic envelopes that just get destroyed through normal handling. And burning up merchandise instead of donating is just ridiculous.
Lol they once sent me my Starbucks glass cup in a padded envelope. I bought a yeti bottle and they packed it in a huge box with ONE air bubble. Ended coming with a dent but I let it go since eventually it will get dented.
After watching this segment on liquidation and returns. It makes me wonder what would happen if Amazon stopped offering free returns. Meaning the customer had to pay shipping back to Amazon, were then charged a 10% or flat rate re-stock fee and then only were fully refunded if the return was a issue of wrong item sent.
My issue with that is a lot of times you'll get merchandise that is not at all as described. Amazon's created a whole nother market of selling off and liquidating so I have four different stores in my area I can go to and even buy return to Costco merchandise I love it I got a kitchen sink faucet $48. Was a Costco return. I think they sold that faucet for about $98.00. I know one gentleman whose an immigrant to the area. He's reselling returned merchandise from Costco and Amazon he is making a killing. Told me, he's going to open up 3 more stores before the end of the year.
They already implemented the restocking fee for everything. Back in the days, I only see 10% restocking fee for computers. With Amazon, it's 20% restocking fee for even crappy, in a bag tools. Usually I get a lot of junks, used, stretched, scratch up. I rather go to a store, at least I get to see, test, feel what I'm buying.
I live in a small gated neighborhood, we leave the gates open 6am-6pm mostly for the sub-contractors for the new homes, but ALL the delivery trucks UPS Amazon, USPS, FedX scream down our street like rockships! We have even place sign cones in the middle of the street to "Please slow down, children" and they ran over them the same day! Then we put up large signs "Slow Down, Children Playing". Does absolutely NO good! I have been known to run out into the street and stop them asking to please slow down. No results. And since it is a Private street we can't get the sheriff to come sit and help out, I believe they know this!!!
Amazon warehouse worker here. Amazon does NOT have safety meetings before each shift for the workers. They just do safety announcements at beginning of shift and after lunch. Very, very minimal ones. Usually just "don't speed in parking lot". They do a 5 minute safety meet every 2 weeks that only really discusses lifting.
I drive a DSP and it's hard work. I've been with my DSP for a year and a half. My route is 180-200+ stops a day with 280-300 packages. This isn't counting group stops where Amazon groups multiple house's under one stop. I average 25-30 stops per hour. Usually I'm jogging my route to finish in time. We must average around 20 stops per hour. I make $19.41 per hr
Talk about the stress you feel daily. THAT is the most toxic thing about how this system works. Do you feel anxious daily as you try to meet the demands of this job? No one mentioned the mental health toll. Also, chronic stress keeps cortisol in your blood system and it destroys your arteries and WILL lead to heart problems down the road if it's bad enough for long enough.
and WHAT IS THE PROBLEM !!! ?? you get pay for doing a job.... ""oooh i will get a job as a taxi driver, and i will complain about having 100 stops every day"".... WTF !!!!
for a bunch of lies problem is 90% of the products they send us are broken or flawed. or simply NOT what advertised so I dont want to hear about amazon complaining about losing a little money by selling returned or flawed products as new
Inconsistent shipping is a real drag. Something says it's being delivered today and I need it today and then I get a.message I won't be getting it until a later date. They should have said that when I was ordering and I'd have picked a different item. I can't cancel and get a refund to reorder something immediately - because I needed it today - so when it gets here it becomes a return and I guess ends up in a landfill. I pay for Prime to get stuff here in 1 or 2 days, and the price of the items reflects the added shipping. I also order things I can't easily access locally. I'm not going to feel bad when hundreds of dollars of merchandise ends up in a landfill because Amazon can't get their act together when it comes to delivering to me by 10 pm. Another issue is inconsistent sizing in clothes and shoes. I order warehouse deals in case the item has to be returned and they get a second chance with a different buyer.
The fact that the company forces us to hit these unrealistic stats should be illegal. When you put someone's job on the line they will do whatever they need to do to keep it. That puts others at risk.
What I find frustrating is when I order items from Amazon and they divide up the order into several deliveries. Why do they do this? More boxes, more packing materials, more delivery stops, it just seems so wasteful.
Coming from different warehouses. The cost and logistics of getting everything in the same place before delivery isn't worth it, to amazon. Same thing with returning multiple items, and they'll need to be boxed separately and shipped to different places, wasteful but amazon has decided it's more cost efficient.
Different facilities are set up to handle different things, the building I work at, for example, does not handle any flammable and combustible items and pretty much nothing larger than a 12 pack of Gatorade bottles
Select the 2 or 3 day delivery. It literally says recieve in fewer boxes and in less trips to your home. Selecting the 2 or 3 day allows them to group items rather that direct ship for next day.
The delivery issue starts with the way Amazon's AI creates labels to pack boxes. Not only size, but weight needs to be taken into consideration when determining what can be boxed together. A 16# bag of kitty litter should not be put with a box of cereal. With Amazon Fresh, 40# of flour, sugar, and baking supplies shouldn't be put in one grocery bag simply because they will physically fit and are in the same aisle. Totally unacceptable to expect a driver to deal with the stupidity of the packaging as well as everything else.

Amazon stopped all deliveries to me in Philly, now it's almost exclusively USPS. Amazon is no longer even close to their promised 2 day shipping. I place orders now and it may be a week until it's even marked as sent. So they aren't even adhering to the new standard they set for online sellers and I'm using them less and less for my supplies. I'm going directly to the companies because I'm getting the same, or better service, by not going through Amazon now.
I have so much respect for delivery people now if they don’t leave it in the front door idc as long it’s in the property. You should be already happy that the package made it to your house across the country
I am physically disabled and if Amazon drivers let my package anywhere besides my porch it would sit and be ruined. I don't have friends or neighbors to help me. Such is life.
The return disposal is nuts. My ex got a $250 Sony Blu-Ray player from Amazon - that she did not order. When she contacted them, they said for her to just keep it... it was not worth returning?! Since no one she knows in the US still uses physical media, she shipped it to me in the Philippines. I also do not use physical media, but some of our family members do. 😎
This is spot on. They ran me like a dog! And even when you go fast, they want you to go faster! Literally saw a driver get in an accident and then was asked “are you okay to still keep driving? Yeah? Cool! Keep going you’re doing great! Thanks for not calling that police.” Because they want that $$$
Five day delivery is very standard for the industry. You’re just spoiled bc you’re hoping people break their backs for your stuff. You pay a very low premium for unlimited free shipping, stop complaining.
I can't believe how many Americans are not aware of the labor laws in the United States, You can all sew Amazon for unfair labor hours and no breaks from the 8-10 hours of work. All employees have to give each employee two breaks and a lunch break. Amazon owes each of you the time each day with out allowing you time to get rest and food breaks. This is a massive law suit for all of you. Get your money. The labor board is waiting to hear from you all.

The amount of people who are disgusted somehow by Amazon is so large that I don't understand how it still exists. But the amount of people who say: "Look what I found on Amazon!" or "Is it on Amazon?" exceeds that apparently. Put your money where your mouth is people, there was a time before the behemoth, remember the mall? No way back for sure, but the hypocrisy is nauseating.
Why go back at all? People love amazon because anything that can't be found at your local mall can be found on amazon most of the time. Then there's 3rd party sellers like me that make a decent amount of cash selling on amazon.
Malls. Don't miss those for sure. People always hate on the champ. If you are on top, people want you knocked off. I can't realistically see someone being disappointed in a system that has not only the exact item you are looking for, but several similar products WITH REVIEWS that help you decide. Now go to a big box store. How many different products can they put on shelves? How many stoves and freezers can you fit on the floor? Do they offer a delivery service? If so, do they send toothless methheads to your door to they can scope out your place? I went local for my washer and dryer and this was the case. A couple of toothless tweekers that were EMPHATICALLY alert and couldn't stand still for 10 seconds if you offered them 50 bucks. Didn't even let them in my place. Just took the appliances and found someone else to help down to the basement for a case of beer.
@@johnnyzsalt5374 Interesting because I am an avid Amazon shopper but this week I went to the mall which I almost never do. Walked into the shoe dept at Macy's and chose a pair of shoes then looked for an employee to go get my size (which is the system at Macy's, they don't have open stock out on the floor.) I approached a register where an employee was standing and before I could say a word she sniffed, "You're going to have to wait a minute," and disappeared into the storeroom. I patiently waited several minutes until she came back, at which point she looked aggravated that I was still there, and said, "Ma'am you'll have to go get in line over there" and pointed to a register where several customers were waiting to pay for their shoes. I said, "No, I won't," and I walked out. Came home, and ordered the exact same shoes on Amazon AND they cost half the price. This is why malls are out and Amazon is in - at least for me.
My Amazon driver loves me. She gets 2 water bottles, one frozen, one cold, and 2 snacks of her choosing. After seeing this, it tells me she gets hydrated AND 2 pee bottles. Now I think I will include mobile wipes and perhaps a plastic shopping bag for garbage..... On an upside now I know why she is so fit.... 111 packages in one day. That's insane.....
I worked for dps, and it was nice at first, but after you show Amazon that you can get all your packages out within 6 hrs....the next day will be horrible. I did my work so good that Amazon started to write me up because they claimed that the customers could not see their packages in the shade...that it was too dark. So they made me put the package in the sun, take a picture, then hide the package... It was horrible. Especially when you have to drive up a dirt mountain and you are at risk of possibility tipping the truck over because the road is too narrow. Amazon sucks. Not just driving but their warehouses, too.
They should always have two people in each. Having a navigator and somebody to actually sort through packages while the other person is paying attention on driving can take a lot of stress off the situation. And they can also watch each other's backs. And I bet it can speed up the routes as well because one person will sit in the truck while the other can run the package to the location. But I do understand this will cost even more money because instead of having one person per route you will have two people per route. But in companies like this it's supposed to be safety first.
@@choichoi0812 exactly! Even do it in pair “speed up” like he said by 50%, it’s still slower to do in pair than solo. The cost ultimately adds to each purchaser’s bill, he’s going to be like ”I’m not paying this price” 😂 some people just naively thinking they can make it better until it affects them.
I know the time pressure these guys are under. So I make damned sure to credit them with an excellent delivery review, when they take those extra seconds to ring and knock and let me know they've come. And if they are still in sight, to say THANK YOU.
My wife works as a scanner for amazon. She says they throw everything in there and don't care about nothing. They have to complete a crazy amount of scanning per day and if they don't meet that number they are in big trouble. To eat lunch many dont even go yo the dedicated place because sometimes it's like to blocks away and the lunch time is very short so they eat in their working area. The amount of pressure for those people is just intense !!!
There is a concept called conformance cost and non conformance cost. Amazon should reward customers who don't return goods, annual reward policy based on one years performance. This policy can change wastage.
Rewarding customers who don't return goods is like paying people to keep stuff they probably don't need. That's not problem fixing, it's problem shifting.
Why doesn't Amazon set up a return program that donates to people in need or homeless? They could write it off on taxes, save the environment and help the less fortunate all at the same time???
I was an Amazon driver in late 2017/early 2018. Amazon is a slave driving employer. Almost got robbed twice. Was forced to deliver during a tornado warning. Literally could hear the sirens in the area.Everything was the driver's fault. I'm glad someone did a documentary on this. Worst employer ever

They are probably on a timer, they sre promised a certain pay amount at start of each shift.

Big industry secret Millions of Packages stolen each year
I have never once returned a product. If it’s clothing that doesn’t fit, i just give it to a friend or family member, or i donate it. There’s always someone else who could use or need it.
I returned my first item the other day! LOL Been ordering online since who knows when?? 2003?
Way to flex your money 🤣
Great point.
There are jeans made for "skinny" that don't go past my quads, same size but baggy fits me just right
Edit: 38W x 36L
😆 the quite simple reason brick & mortar stores return rate is so low compared to e-commerce sites is you can try on garments prior to purchasing.
They don't have to because they hand off most of their work to said companies. UPS, USPS, FedEx, etc.

UPS gets my business whenever I can, they kick ass, my stuff always makes it on time, intact, and no issues with international shipments!

Lwil sinp
8 hours ? Lol thars only a half day
Yes and its sad because they know your up against the log book and hours etc. but still get upset because of weather, snow, road closures due to accidents and the other delays.
I wouldn’t use it for any other purpose but that or if I ordered the wrong size of some thing for my son, but yeah, they make it so easy to get things done and get the things I need for my son and my
house and myself.

Thank you for sharing your calm, logical and ethical perspective. If only more people thought the way you do!

With those folks who order clothes in three different sizes in mind, I cannot figure out how DISPOSING of nearly ALL return items fits in any profitable business model
Because most people are ordering cheap chinese garbage that has been marked up from amazon.

Amazon pays better then any retailer I know
What they don't talk about, which is amazing to me, is that if something goes on sale on Amazon through the same seller and same item.

But if you think it's better just to return it, then I feel sorry for you
Sure thing.
If you're a habitual product returner, Amazon will start charging shipping costs tor returns and/or cut off your account.
Love Amazon ! Being older, I don't have to drive to a store, fight for parking, then hope to find the item I need.

Amazon does require DSPs to provide certain insurances to drivers, also when I was a driver in 2017 routes were around 240-280 stops.

I drove a semi-truck OTR for 12 yrs and the GPS problem is definitely a big issue not only for local delivery drivers but for Qualcomm as well.
GPS doesn't work is all
I wish I had 113 stops. Try 198 stops with nearly 400 packages to deliver. She must’ve been in the country somewhere.
Great report. Very good reporter/host/narrator.

They don't have to accept returns it just depends
@Anonymous One no they don't
@Anonymous One it depends like I said
I've been stung by a scam a few times now, with amazon and also other companies like Zappos, where a person will buy two similar products, like sneakers or phone cases.

Amazon's big problem is that a lot of the information describing products on their website is crap garbage and junk.
It is true what they say "One mans trash is another mans treasure"!
Being "Green" is the first mistake most companies make.
I would imagine more people would buy from a retailer offering free returns.
the money that is saved by these companies by not having a brick and mortar store should be put into a return program.
I make $19.41 per hr

so I dont want to hear about amazon complaining about losing a little money by selling returned or flawed products as new
It was all the delivery drivers.....they're the only ones to thank for putting this together.
I don’t know what you’re talking about. There’s a store just around the corner from me that sells Amazon returns. And it’s not a landfill.
99% of companies use anxiety
Deliberately
They said just don't count them apparently
What I find frustrating is when I order items from Amazon and they divide up the order into several deliveries. Why do they do this? More boxes, more packing materials, more delivery stops, it just seems so wasteful.
Coming from different warehouses. The cost and logistics of getting everything in the same place before delivery isn't worth it, to amazon.
Same thing with returning multiple items, and they'll need to be boxed separately and shipped to different places, wasteful but amazon has decided it's more cost efficient.
Make sure to thank Jeff Bezos because he really cares. 🙄
That's why Amazon is pushing everyone one to have a delivery day. This way they can hold items until your order is completed.
Right! It's chaos how they package a lot of these items together.

I approached a register where an employee was standing and before I could say a word she sniffed, "You're going to have to wait a minute," and disappeared into the storeroom. I patiently waited several minutes until she came back, at which point she looked aggravated that I was still there, and said, "Ma'am you'll have to go get in line over there" and pointed to a register where several customers were waiting to pay for their shoes.
Minimalism is the answer, collect memories and travel don’t pile useless stuff
Been a minimalist for many years. People will soon figure it out when they can no longer afford the useless junk they buy.
it is better to transport a package than some large ass human that needs to travel.
You will own nothing and you will be happy....
Easy there, jockstrap.
I agree but I use Amazon for certain things I actually need cause they are cheaper.
There are so many other jobs available. There must be some benefits that make people want to keep the job for Amazon.

@@AustinBoden damn. Bummer
@@AustinBoden Yeah. Because it isn't hard.
Not necessary. Not worth it.
lmao
you clearly dont know how the world works
@@thomasmabika7291 it will motivate people not to order wrong.
YOU'VE OBVIOUSLY NEVER OWNED A BUSINESS
Worth the watch….Thanks! 😮
Why doesn't Amazon set up a return program that donates to people in need or homeless? They could write it off on taxes, save the environment and help the less fortunate all at the same time???
BINGO
Because the drug addicted homeless will pawn it for drugs or booze
I was an Amazon driver in late 2017/early 2018. Amazon is a slave driving employer. Almost got robbed twice. Was forced to deliver during a tornado warning. Literally could hear the sirens in the area.Everything was the driver's fault. I'm glad someone did a documentary on this. Worst employer ever
I was a contract driver for another company. They controlled the vehicle lease amount and pay amount for deliveries. Some days we made no money after expenses. I left when I had to pay out of pocket to work. These drivers claiming $20 an hour is before expenses.
