  • A short video of the Daiwa Iprimi in action. It is certainly the lightest powered rod I own and in all likelihood the most fun. Netted about 70 stocker trout on the rod...a ton of fun. Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching.

    I bought one of these about a year ago, my first ever JDM rod. Put that orange Presso line on just to match the rod. I bought it to fish small spoons for trout in ponds and small lakes, but when you get a good-sized crappie on it, that is an adrenaline rush. The quality for the price is top-notch. Based on this, I have a high opinion of Daiwa's Vietnam factory. I don't have any other rod like it, and it is a heck of a lot of fun for small fish.

    I fish an Abu Garcia MES-584 UL 0.8-3.5g. I target everything from trout which go up 18" and redfin perch which were over 45cm /2lb8oz and have even landed pike over 8lbs. However the level of sport from the smallest of fish under a few inches is unparalled. The fun factor is a real thing. There is an art to presenting a small lure under a gram to fish small and big. Feeling a pluck from 60ft plus from a 4inch perch is unreal. Really enjoy your videos, yourself and i_fish are the best youtubers on this content.

    One tip for the iprimi XXUL I’ve noticed. I lose a lot of fish When I have my rod pointed up while fighting them I noticed I would lose drastically less fish when I would point my rod tip to the side or down while fighting them I think it lets the reel do more of the work. Hope this helps.

    Hey Randy, I'm having a lot of fun with the JDM mini spoons too. With cheaper rods though, the Trapara XUL 602 and the Daiwa 4 piece D spin 6 ft. We don't have as many stockers though, only a dozen yesterday.

    Nice trip Randy. It looks like you are using just a steady retrieve with those spoons. Is that also how you fish the abolone spoons as well? Looking forward to testing them out on the Little Red.

      Thanks for watching Matt. I reel just fast enough to stay in contact with the spoon....I let it basically drift down on its own. It is a balancing act to keep it from hanging up.

    What a great video Mr Randy looks like you had a lot of fun with that set up, I've been thinking about asking you on what rod would you recommend for crappie/panfish to fish micro plastics something along the lines of the major craft fine tail with an emphasis on sensitivity, this will be used with 2 lb florocarbon and very light jigs 1/32 1/48 oz most of the time, please let me know if you have any ideas, thank you!

      I have a fantastic crappie rod I will sell you. The Tict 6' 9" Ice Cube Rockin' Finesse. It is a 290 dollar rod...I will let it go for 200 bucks. I consider it to be the finest rod for crappie you can buy....I have 2 other Ice Cube rods or I would not think of selling it.

    So, they will get more difficult to obtain now for sure. Chris says Daiwa doesn’t have any and don’t know when the next run will happen or even if it will at all. 🙁

    reeling in your fish while the fish is pulling line on a loose drag will induce major line twist. it adds up to problem's at the end of the day.

      Thanks for watching....are you familiar with polyester fishing line? Here is a video of why I keep a loose drag. Fishing with a no stretch line that breaks at 1.8 pounds...well one best keep a loose drag. Been doing this a long time...I have zero line issues. th-cam.com/video/Qw1Y5if6CLA/w-d-xo.html

    I thought in one of your previous videos you stated you gave away an Iprimi because you didn't care for it. What was different about that rod? I am looking at an Iprimi 62XUL which is not XXUL but seems to have similar specs except obviously longer. I'm wondering if it will be similar to the 5'6 XXUL you are using.

    • @troutmagnetman
      @troutmagnetman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. I did say that....I was hoping to use it for fishing micro plastics but the Iprimi rods are not very sensitive. I also said that I bought the XXUL Iprimi to use with micro hard baits on smaller fish. You don't have to have a highly sensitive rod using hard baits as the hit is usually pretty hard. I am absolutely loving the XXUL using micro spoons on trout and bluegill.

      @@troutmagnetman I was looking at it for spoons, spinners and cranks 2 grams or less in weight. Abu Garcia Mass Beat III looks similar.
      This would be my first JDM rod.
