Dhaka, Bangladesh ➖ After checking out the bustling Bashundhara City mall in Dhaka, I was walking back to my hotel, and something unexpected happened. I had gotten food from a local stand and chatted with a "friendly" guy who was adamant to show me the fish markets. I declined as I knew his offer seemed a bit fishy but he decided to follow me for the next 20 minutes as I walked home. Despite my attempts to lose him, he continued to follow me for several blocks and you'll see what happens at the end.

im canadian born bengali, the girl who asked for donations seems legit.. she is muslim and hijabi sometimes you can discern a scam by the person.. scams that are a ruse are executed by sketchy men.. she also looked like a university student who was volunteering so i would pay too.. hats off Luke for always tipping and contributing to the needy.. you are a blessing to this world.

Please go to the modern parts of Dhaka like gulshan, Banani or dhanmondi as well. You are staying at one of the busiest parts of Dhaka currently. Very hectic to stay there

On the other hand, going to the busiest parts does mean its the *authentic* experience that locals partake in. But yeah authentic doesnt necessarily mean a great experience haha

Remember, kindness is the evil man's greatest leeway in doing what they want. I know most people aren't like this man, but I wish they would interfere more instead of watching from afar, or even laughing.

As a Bangladeshi, I'm disheartened this happened to you Luke. There's a lot of scammers out here unfortunately and we always have to stay vigilant, definitely not the best of experiences. Have someone be with you when you're visiting such local and crowded areas and maybe visit some of the more sophisticated places here in BD so that at least you're able to communicate on a higher level. Sorry this happened to you. If I was in Dhaka (I'm Bengali American) and an annoying scammer approached me, I would have literally smacked him. My gentle mom even hates these people and she even grew up in BD. These guys are the worst. Truly poor people don't haggle you like that, they just beg while you pass by them.

That man looked clever and he really had the audacity to ask for more money even though he told the other guy to give him the change. Stay safe. Some people out there are really dangerous. They take the chance when you are kind to them.

Honestly the way Luke stayed so calm and handled the situation with such empathy towards that awkwardly weird guy, Luke gets my respects because I don’t know how I would have reacted, I can honestly learn from Luke. Unfortunately there are many uneducated and poor people like this man, you wouldn’t have that kind of issue with the working and educated class of people. These kinds of people get on my nerves, if it was me I would have told him of in Bengali. People saying his English was decent but I thought it wasn’t that great, he just bumbled on unnecessarily

I watch you and all other vlogger's and I am so glad that you guys only offer food if someone asked for money. if some one ask me for me money I asked if you hungry let me buy you food because those people are lazy and do not want to work. I also noticed everyone who visit Bangladesh mostly visits the city and resort areas but if I may suggest if you could visit any village of Bangladesh you will see the real beauty of Bangladesh or take a trip to Sundarbans .
