The Fjördur Series is a Syntac Adventure on a Nordic themed map for Ark Survival Evolved. In this series Syntac will explore the lands and discover its secrets, travel to the dangerous realms such as Jotunheim and Valhalla in search of new creatures to tame, build Viking settlements throughout the lands and summon the willpower to tame the mighty Fenrir!

Please be aware that this video was made a long time ago on the Mod version of the map and Fenrir was just a normal wild knockout tame. To get Fenrir on the official version you'll need to defeat the Fenrir boss

@@Psycho_herb I think they messed up on the taming for this map. All the new creatures have such difficult taming methods that it’s not even worth it for their abilities.
This is a known bug, that the ice spikes doesnt work for anyone. Garuga is already working on that for some time and we hope to fix it as soon as possible!
And Fenrir has a saddle. You can get it from Itsy and Bitsy, the first world boss.

Excuse me but some of the parts in the crystal Isles map it is starting to bug out cuz I'm now mantas are starting to come into the river and it's the island part my mom's base is now gone for some reason that she spent like a year on the whole map is gone till like nothing was ever there and it's a new map everybody's creatures died and we don't know what cuz we played that map yesterday so if you can ask the creator of the crystal Isles to fix the bugs thank you maybe and please try to find out why everything's disappearing there's no mobs anymore it's just dead wastelands everything is gone we came today we've been spending hours looking for just any life walking around cuz all of our stuff is gone all the dragons I don't know how to spell the other name for them so if you can please help and it's not because we have a mod we do no modded servers

@@catsandstuff9868 I feel for you on that, but those kind of issues are common if you're running mods. If you're not, the ocean might be over spawning. Might do well to run a destroy wild Dino command. As for missing structures, if you run any structure mods like structures plus, if you're not careful to be sure to update your game or server, structures will vanish. You have to roll the server or save back to an earlier time when they existed. Good luck.
Fenrir being tangled up in a net gave me all kinds of flashbacks to when I learned his story and how he was bound with a mythical cord on a island that wasn't on any maps.

In the myths, Fenrir (or Fenris-Wolf) was the firstborn child of Loki and the giantess Angrboda. It was foretold that he would devour Odin during Ragnarok, the end of the world, so the gods bound him with an unbreakable chain.
Fenrir was so large that when he opened his mouth, his top jaw would reach the sky, and his bottom jaw would touch the ground

I’d love to see Fenrir a bit bigger, since he’s so close to dire wolf size. But I love all the work the developers are putting into all this, there really is so much love and attention put into this map, I love it and can’t wait to play it.

I remember hearing the fenrir has a saddle you can get from killing mini bosses which is supposed to be really good. It’s meant to be a boss killing Dino
I wonder if you could bring a quatzal over here and build a small base on it's back, it would be incredibly slow to get around, but you would be able to do it without freezing to death
hey syn! your darts don't hit when you net a creature because when you net something, the hitbox doesn't change. so ark still thinks it's standing up even though it's visually netted down. So to get headshots you'd have to shoot the empty space above the creature where the head woulda been before u netted it.
Well if I’m correct, a dire bear does help you keep warm if you tame one.
Dires bears dont have insulation so i dont think so

Those ice spikes look amazing. Garuga does some phenomenal work on creature mods. As for names... I'm at a loss. The only one I could think of was kinda silly, tbh: "Rimeclaw." My stupid Monster Hunter brain just fed me "Frostfang" as an option, too.

But thank you for the correction; I'm not sure what caused me to mix Garuga and Nekatus.
If you have an alt with 1K crafting (or a couple mind-wipe tonics), you can chug a focal chili and use 2 Dodo eggs to make a meal/potion that restores 248HP, Stamina, & Food in 1 shot. If made as a potion, I advise adding 50 Amar/Azul/Tinto since that'll give you 325 Health & Stamina, and 198 water.
You can capture like... 20 dodo's and an oviraptor and it'll be raining eggs.
I'm with you Syn, I thought Fenrir would be a bit bigger. Especially when a lot of us are going to have Fenris from Thor Ragnarok in our heads. Also, you could have put on the scuba pants, doubt it would make a huge difference but that combined with Wyvern milk could be the way.
Awesome to see Fjordur episode back. Love this series mate as I'm playing Fjordur at the moment, there is a lot of armour skins and weapon skins available in the caves which look awesome
Good lord, -90 is rough. You might have to have a platform tame with air conditioners / dimetrodons / penguins just so you can actually travel.
I had a base like that I kept in the Murder Murder Snow on Rag 🤣

Not sure if you can find dimetrodons on this map but you can find piles of direbear which work the same!
As far as I know, there will be a total of four new creatures for this map, but I'm not sure
No Fenrir is the only creature I spoke to the dev of this map

Ngl, it'd be sick if a bunch of mythological norse creatures were added, like Fafnir, Nidhogg, the stags of Yggdrasil, the hawk of Yggdrasil aka Veorfolnir, and obv the world snake Jormungandr even though a bunch of mods have done it

Pretty sure the murder snow was -54 celsius at its lowest, Jotunheimr is -90 constantly which would kill anyway instantly

@@theothertoby1 Nah ,the lowest I've seen in the coldest murder snow area (murdermurdersnow) is -88, so it's close.
Fun fact: Jotunheimr has a perfect temperature for incubating rock drake eggs.
It'd be pretty cool to have Sleipnir in Fjördur, although I think animating that would be a pain haha

I don't know for sure, but I think you can get wyvern milk from the wyverns and it counters all of the cold.

The spikes show on my Fenrir in single player so it could be a server thing.

It would be cool if you can get Mjolnir as a skin from Asgard Or maybe get Thor’s armor as a skin. I also kinda hope that Thor’s hammer will be on a room in Asgard and you can try to lift it to see if your worthy. In my opinion all of these things would be cool things

Fire wyvern actually give a passive insulation buff i don't think many people know about this feature

There is a saddle for it, you can get it by completing a cave where you have to kill 2 Broodmothers.
I'm shocked you didn't bring your bear! It's perfect for cold weather..you could of also tamed a snow owl or even gotten wyvern milk to protect you from the cold.

Might I suggest an escort of melee bred dimetrodons (the sailbacks) or penguins? They all help.

I really wish I could get into this game. I tried but its hard to wrap my head around some of the stuff you have to do and I swear it's just confusing to play on console. I had to watch a video on how to give meat to something I had knocked out

At 1:48 that skull is hel goddess of death half her face is pretty like her father loki the other ulgy like her mother a giant. She is commonly depicted with half of her body being skeletal with some tissues and the other half normal.

Wyvern milk will let you survive the cold no matter what, good way to get around before you get a good full fur set.

Fenrir is supposed to be able to bite through like almost anything. Anything besides a couple of legendary mythical things anyway. Wonder if they can implement some aspect of that at some point.

It’s not the most practical method, but you could tame a dimetrodon and carry it around with an argy or keep it in a cryo ball. They give the best insulation in the game I believe.

I'm always late, but I think a cool name for Fenrir would be Frostcaller. Kinda formal, but considering that he comes from Jotunheim and the roar to summon Frigid Armor has a cool snowy animation, I thought it was fitting.

A sugestion as to how you could survive in Jotunheim is to bring a mobile base with you, like a paracer or a bronto or even a quetzal with a plataform saddle holding you hot shack with it.
That's -130 Fahrenheit, for us colonists. As cold as Antartica.

i feel like it should have a rage meter or like a shadowmane damage meter and get the ability to turn huge, because he doesn't look to be that big

FYI the Aberration cave is not radiated. I was in there last night in hide armor. There are definitely nasties in there, though. Almost got ate by two Megalosaurs on my first foray...on foot. Net gun and grapples FTW.

According to legends, Fenrir, the son of Loki, kept growing in size until he was so enormous that even the gods started fearing him. Does that happen here? It's still amazing though if it doesn't .
An otter at around 600-650 melee I can travel to murder-
snow on rag naked( I forget my fortitude at the time), may help with frost giant zone

using the tek sleeping pod will help you from the cold but you need a tek gen as well.
Quetzal with AC units moving safe base no losing health. they like to spawn near the ponds and cliffs singles and packs.x otters can be found here too

If there are Wyverns somewhere you might be able to drink Wyvern milk there to stay warm.
Using a female mate boosted shadowmane team cloak ability will work on Fenrir and when you turn it off (become visible) again Fenrir has his spikes. Is a funky way around the spike bug.
