Hakkinen and Schumacher had a tremendous amount of respect for each other because they had known each other since their go karting years and both arrived in F1 during the 1991 season.

As a fan a wet race are awesome because the cars don't matter as much as skill does it's called the equalizer because it doesn't matter how good it car is if u can't use all of that performance.

Hi Chaz. I am a huge McLaren fan. Mika Häkkinen is one of my favorite drivers. Probably the very fastest driver in the dry, and he was not bad in wet conditions.

He's my childhood hero. I grew up watching Mika Häkkinen, and as a Finn, it was a great time for sports in general. We've had a lot of great drivers, but Mika will always be #1 for me.
Also, talk about bad luck - the 2001 US GP win? Until then, Mika had a godawful season, with his engine blowing left and right. He decided to make it his last one, so that US GP win - even if aided by Barrichello's engine blowing up - was some well-earned luck. To give you an example, he was leading the Spanish GP until his engine blew up on literally the last lap.
If you want more Mika, check out his interview with James May, I think you can find it on YT with title "Mika Hakkinen Teaches Captain Slow to Drive". There's two, so pick whichever you want - one is slightly longer, but both are from the same episode.

They don't race in conditions that bad anymore. Usually red flagged and delayed until the rain stops, the cars themselves can dry a track pretty quickly so they do a few laps under the safety car to disburse the water and then go green. Or if it doesn't clear the race gets suspended or cancelled like we saw recently at Belgium I think where they done a few laps under the safety car and then called off the race after a few hours of heavy rain.

Hi Chaz. You have to remember that when they are in different cars or when the tyres are different one car is faster than the other. Mika was the fastest guy in the dry, and was consistent in the wet. Michael Schumacher was the fastest all round driver. Jean Alesi was the fastest in the wet in that era. Also racing in that era were Juan Pablo Montoya from Colombia and his team mate Ralph Schumacher, Michael's younger brother.
In 1998 Mika Häkkinen won his first title with McLaren. I am a McLaren guy and I loved Ayrton Senna. So when Mika came to our team in 1993 and was faster than Senna, I was impressed.
Then he almost was killed in Adelaide (Oct 1995), he came to Melbourne in March 1996 and finished 5th, (in a McLaren that was not a top car that year). I was at this race. This was the last year of the Marlboro McLaren sponsorship. The tobacco brand sponsored both McLaren and Ferrari. In 1997 they were dropping us (McLaren), to sponsor Ferrari more. The Ferrari was dark red, now was going to be a lighter shade of red to match the Marlboro colors. So when we beat them in 1998 it was extra sweet. You will see that in those years McLaren were in black and white, for their new sponsor West cigarettes. Later they wore Silver for Mercedes, but when the Mercedes team was formed, they wear the Silver. McLaren now use their original Orange as their team color.
McLaren also race in Indy car racing in America. The only team in both sports, F1 and Indy.

It's great to see them race in rain, because then you see who can handle the difficult situations, and be cool, and not stress out and give it too much gas. It is also very interesting to see how the cars that are normally not at the fron, all of a sudden could have a chance in the rain, where the differences in car performance becomes less of an issue and where it's more about the driver keeping it on the track :)

Racing in the rain is sometime awesome, it shows you just how skillfull "or not" the driver truly are, it can be super exciting and is super hard to do especially in such powerful cars.

React to the top 10 Nico Rosberg Brilliance bro...so far he's the only one who's beaten Lewis for the title since 2014 and he did it with the same car as Lewis...
And it would be nice if u reacted to Hamilton Vs Rosberg at Bahrain 2014 (epic)
Fun fact: They were teammates when they were kids in go karting...they were best friends...Rosberg got in F1 at 2006 and Lewis at 2007 and they drove for different teams until 2013 when Lewis joined Mercedes where Nico was driving at since 2010..after 2015 the rivalry was so big that they stopped talking to each other...
Another think that was cool too is that they both have or had similar ways/style of driving..

Whats the fun in racing in the rain? Man, this question makes me sad as a racing fan xD. Races in rain or mixed conditions are a blaze. The best drivers can shine, even if they are in waker cars. Drivers are challenged to the aboslute limit in wet conditions. I get why it is not a good idea to race nascar in the wet. But F1 races in the wet... a dream.

  • @squidcaps4308

Mika's move n Schumi is still the best overtake in F1. Second place is tied between quite a many, Alonsos pass on Schumi in 130R in Suzuka is a strong contender for sure, and Kimis overtake on Fischichella in the same race on last lap, turn 1 to take victory has to be there too. Kimis overtake on Schumi at Eua Rouge is also there..

Bravo for finding Mika man 😄 the one that got me hooked to F1 when I was a kid, the flying Fin, like Kimi after him, always expect the unexpected. He told us to follow Kimi when he retired.. and boy was he right 😂😂😂
We sure need a new insane F1 driver soon, someone gotta stop that sob crybaby max and there is only so much Hamilton can do with a crappy car and Ferrari sabotaging their drivers this season.
Anyway Mika was 1 of a kind

Alain Prost pulled out of the 1989 Australian F1 GP in Adelaide. Prost was right, the conditions were horrible and too dangerous even for F1. When you watch the video you can't believe that all these spins, slides and crashes were from the one race, but they were. Senna would have won except his McLaren only had three wheels left after he crashed hard into the back of a slower car.

It's throughout season...like Räikkönen was clearly fastest many years but car broke down 10 of the races. it's kinda weird on it's actually not that hamilton has most championships but when it is asked from divers: best are senna and schumacher. Rivalry with Mika was great. It's whole season...not like these drama shit....that would be like my gf: fucking drama and nobody is happy.
