Keke is indeed Nico's dad. Nico's mum is german, and up until Formula 3 Euro, Nico raced under a Finnish license. He switched to racing with a German license after that.
There's been all sort of motor racing in Finland since there has been motor racing. E.g. Leo Kinnunen won Interserie 3 times and become the first Finnish F1 driver in the early 70s. Jarno Saarinen won the motorcycle road racing world championship in 250cc in 1972. In 1973 he was dominating in both 250cc and 500cc before his fatal accident. In the 70s Heikki Mikkola became the first to win both the 250cc and 500cc world championships in motocross. What they also left out is that in 1979 and 1982 Häkkinen lost the Karting championship to a girl, Taru Rinne. She came second in 1980 behind the future F! driver Mika Salo and In 1981 behind Häkkinen. She also won the championship in 1983, but was disqualified from the last race due to illegal fuel. For which she was given a personal one-year ban from racing, which eventually ended her promising career in Karting. She too was aiming to become a F! driver. That didn't happen. She switched to motorcycles and made her depute in the Road Racing World Championship in 1988. She was the first woman to achieve points in Grand Prix motorcycle racing. She qualified second for the 125cc class GP at Hockenheim in 1989 and managed to lead the race for a while. She eventually finished seventh bettering her earlier eighth place at Assen. She got into a bad accident at Paul Ricard track. While recovering from the accident, she got a letter from Bernie Ecclestone, who at the time decided which riders are allowed to compete in the series. The letter said that she is not qualified to compete next season. The world's probably not ready for a woman to beat men in motor racing even today. (Except maybe in Drag Racing. Finnish Anita Mäkelä has won the European Drag Racing Championship six times. Twice in Top Alcohol and four times in Top Fuel. As only one to have won the championship in both classes.) Video: "Jukka Pukka Ratamoottoripyöräilijä Taru Rinne"
He somehow became better person after that near fatal crash. More human, compassionate and faster....weird but ofc when you have your brain scrambled like an egg it will change you...
we back :))

Gotta love Mika!
Underrated maybe by the press and casual fans but not by the real F1 fans. Hakkinen was the only driver Michael Schumacher really respected.

You should check our Raikkonen next, another fast finn, arguably the fastest in his era tbh
There's a cool video of him with Nico Rosberg driving a McLaren p1 around Monaco bro
11:33 Nico Rosberg holds an dual citzenship from Finland and Germany.
But he uses the German Flag for racing.
So not a Finn
