He looks fine ... but my only gripe in RE7 is his uniform .. chris is known to have olive or some shade of green in his uniform as signature color .. just like signature color for jill is blue , claire is red , barry is redish-brown , wesker is black ... etc

I kinda liked the new look: it captures the slimmer, more agile appearance of the original RE character, instead of the more hulking appearance he has in later games. Also, he clearly looks like a guy in his late thirties or mid-fourties, which makes sense given that the events in the original game take place in the 1990's.

It's not that Capcom used a new technology in developing character facial presets, it's not that Chris looks completely different... it's the fact that Capcom decided to select a voice actor that looks "somewhat similar" to Chris rather than a "spot-on" image of Chris. Think about it, how likely is it for Capcom to get a close-to or identical Chris face with a person in real life? So they had some one with little similarity and great voice acting. 2.) another factor, it seems as though the preceding RE games will have a contributor of heavy realism to it. They basically created a close to real version in this next game. Basically if Resident evil were to happen, they strayed away from the cartoony aspect
The models and the voice actors are not the same. The models had their bodies scanned in, they did not do the acting. That was the voice actors plus computer magic.
I'm a Resident Evil fan for life, but the character models for all the main characters have always had a more sculpted, inhumanly perfect look--which the NPCs did not. Adam Crosman, the guy who is only the face of Piers Nivans liked some of my stuff on Instagram a few months back, which told me that Capcom has been using real people to model their characters for a while, but, as you just showed us, Jill from Revelations looks just a little bit different than Jill from the REmake and RE5--but she still looks more or less like the Jill Valentine we all know. In RE5, Reuben Langdon (voice of Dante and Ken Masters) did the motion capture for Chris Redfield, while Roger Craig Smith did the voice (Patricia Ja Lee did both for Jill, but not in Revelations), and it worked out just fine. In fact, before we even knew that Chris Redfield would be the main protagonist of Resident Evil 5, Capcom had showed us a trailer for the game, without actually naming the character. That didn't stop a lot of people from holding up a picture of Chris from the REmake and making comparisons--my point being, that it looked a lot like the Chris we remember, new hairstyle and all. In Metal Gear Solid V, Kiefer Sutherland provided not only the voice of Big Boss, but the full motion capture performance--and yet Snake still looked like fucking Snake. I dunno . . . you'd think Capcom would've learned from the DmC Dante debacle a few years back. This new technology is awesome, and all, but going forward, they should just do whatever it is they do for the CG movies, when rendering the main characters of the franchise.

Chris in Re8 in consistent with his other character models from previous games and he’s even modeled after the same guy who did the modeling in RE7 so I don’t know why this version looks so different. Redfield has had changes to his appearance throughout the games but they were subtle and he still looked like the same Chris from the previous installment but this guy looks nothing like the other models of Chris.
Yeah it would be more of a character re-imagination, but if they are doing that, they can use "technology" as an excuse if fans get too mad "Sorry technology changed so did our characters". I really don't care much, but I want to know the truth and to make sure Capcom isn't tricking us :D

I personally don't think that it's truly been confirmed that this is THE Chris Redfield. The DLC has yet to come out, so the verdict has yet to come in. Capcom could just be referring to him as Chris in order to avoid spoiling anything. It makes no sense that they would hire a new guy to voice Chris, while still having Roger Craig Smith on their payroll as the English voice actor for Chris.
In Japan they used the same voice actor. So that is probably not at play here. They may have just gotten rid of the old voice actor, or maybe there was a scheduling conflict for this game, and since Chris has like 10 words, Capcom didn't care.
Where's Barry But Capcom had RCS voice Chris is Resident Evil Vendetta, a canon chapter in the RE universe, so why not simply have him voice the handful of lines for the game? I dunno, it just seems to shady as to why they would have someone else voice one of their mainstay characters, while also having the characters official voice actor voice said character in an upcoming movie.
Honestly I'm not a fan of games making characters look more realistic. I don't mind if it's a grounded game like uncharted or gta but games where realism doesn't exist and characters look real just make me eye roll especially when their older models fit way better.
Yeah, I like a lot of cartoony video game characters. The real ones can be interesting too at times. I'm more into story and gameplay than graphics or what characters look like though.

Why are people freaking out so much?? Chris is actually similar to the actor they choose in the cutscene of the original game. (The scene with real people in the begining) Of course the actor is much older now and can't be scanned or maybe they want to reboot the series. I think since Resident Evil VII was so realistic it didn't make sense to go overboard on Chris. He would feel dislocated from the rest of the game and it would break suspension of disbelief. Did they actually confirm that THIS specific guy is Chris Redfield though? I mean if you go by the credits then yes, but they DID confirm Chris will be in the DLC I know that and he will be....But with a twist. Maybe at the end of the DLC you will find out it really wasn't Chris as the real one returns. That's my personal guess. If it turns out that this is legit the real Chris then so what though? At least we got one original character return in 7, we should be happy.

I don't care if this new look for Chris Redfield but why the 2017 Movies Chris Redfield does not look the same at all with this new one. Atleast their can change the suit from BSAA, the hair style and hair colour same with the movie. Even Lucas and Zoe model were also use different hair. I believe, me and others will be more able to accept this character model as Chris if the helicopter logo is BSAA and if the model look the same as 2017 Biohazard Vendetta Movies.

it is hard for fans , I'm not gonna lie , I liked that Chris here is more realistic,but at the same time I liked him in RE6,maybe if they kept his face and lose all that wierd mussels,it would have been nice,and the characters design is not that good,look at Uncharted 4 ,I think the characters were greatly well done, there is a great competition these days when it comes to how a character looks and how believable it is.That all is just my opinion as a fan.

Leon & Claire are NEXT. They are doing the same thing for RE2 Remake. Perhaps they will do better casting. I think they may have wanted to make Chris look more real and thats why they changed him, blaming the tech. But the next ones may do better casting.
Well good luck finding anyone who looks like them then. This will just turn into a generic triple A horror game if they walked this path, and i always loved RE for it's unique characters, and that's what made it stand out from the rest of the horror games.

they took out the umbrella logo in the full game the only time u see the umbrella logo is the ending cutscnee

People just over react! Throughout the 20 years of Resident Evil, every character has gone through a big change, I'm happy with the new Chris model. he looks like the original Chris to me

Wow, I'm not sure if people are going to buy that. They had the infamous live-action Chris Redfield in the Resident Evil 1 opening credits. He looks MUCH like Chris Redfield. They should try again. He's turned into another blonde like William Birkin! Bring back the tall, dark, and handsome Chris!
If it is the real Chris Redfield, it'll feel weird to me that it's not Rodger Craig Smith's voice for him. The other thing that's weird to me is that why does he work for umbrella now? I hope it'll be explained in the DLC, I just can't wait for it lol.
Yeah the only thing is that in Japan they used the normal Chris voice actor, so I'm thinking the old English speaking voice actor has been replaced. Unless maybe he had a conflict and this was only like 8 words.

I'm not super familiar with the voice actors. I know in Japan they used the same Chris, but in English they got a new guy.
Chris in Re8 in consistent with his other character models from previous games and he’s even modeled after the same guy who did the modeling in RE7 so I don’t know why this version looks so different. Redfield has had changes to his appearance throughout the games but they were subtle and he still looked like the same Chris from the previous installment but this guy looks nothing like the other models of Chris.
Jill was modeled off of Julia voth in the re1 remake so they already used a real person to portray her.
Yeah but this is a new way to do it. So they may find someone new. Or maybe they use her again. We shall find out.
Not sure what to make of it, I flipped out when they pulled off Ada Wong reset in RE6 and I don't trust capcom ever since.

I personally don't think that it's truly been confirmed that this is THE Chris Redfield. The DLC has yet to come out, so the verdict has yet to come in. Capcom could just be referring to him as Chris in order to avoid spoiling anything. It makes no sense that they would hire a new guy to voice Chris, while still having Roger Craig Smith on their payroll as the English voice actor for Chris.

Where's Barry But Capcom had RCS voice Chris is Resident Evil Vendetta, a canon chapter in the RE universe, so why not simply have him voice the handful of lines for the game? I dunno, it just seems to shady as to why they would have someone else voice one of their mainstay characters, while also having the characters official voice actor voice said character in an upcoming movie.
Honestly I'm not a fan of games making characters look more realistic. I don't mind if it's a grounded game like uncharted or gta but games where realism doesn't exist and characters look real just make me eye roll especially when their older models fit way better.
Yeah, I like a lot of cartoony video game characters. The real ones can be interesting too at times. I'm more into story and gameplay than graphics or what characters look like though.
WTF why not keep it consistent, 5,6,7 and Vendetta Chris looks different in all of them and they are only a few years apart. At least Older Leon, Damnation, 6, and Vendetta, looks the same.

Why are people freaking out so much?? Chris is actually similar to the actor they choose in the cutscene of the original game. (The scene with real people in the begining)
Of course the actor is much older now and can't be scanned or maybe they want to reboot the series. I think since Resident Evil VII was so realistic it didn't make sense to go overboard on Chris. He would feel dislocated from the rest of the game and it would break suspension of disbelief. I'm actually happy with this new Chris

Did they actually confirm that THIS specific guy is Chris Redfield though? I mean if you go by the credits then yes, but they DID confirm Chris will be in the DLC I know that and he will be....But with a twist. Maybe at the end of the DLC you will find out it really wasn't Chris as the real one returns. That's my personal guess. If it turns out that this is legit the real Chris then so what though? At least we got one original character return in 7, we should be happy.
I still call this guy "Chris Redfield". It may be his real name, or a placeholder name because you can't put "mystery guy" in the credits and ads if you are trying to have a twist.
Yeah there will most definitely be a twist. But the title kinda gives it away "not a hero" we all know the real Redfield is one of the good guys. I think The REAL Chris, if this isn't him will be in the DLC in some way.

He did look different but he sort of gradually grew into the wrestler. They def needed to tone him down a bit. I always keep my mind open because it is more fun that way.

I don't care if this new look for Chris Redfield but why the 2017 Movies Chris Redfield does not look the same at all with this new one. Atleast their can change the suit from BSAA, the hair style and hair colour same with the movie. Even Lucas and Zoe model were also use different hair. I believe, me and others will be more able to accept this character model as Chris if the helicopter logo is BSAA and if the model look the same as 2017 Biohazard Vendetta Movies.

it is hard for fans , I'm not gonna lie , I liked that Chris here is more realistic,but at the same time I liked him in RE6,maybe if they kept his face and lose all that wierd mussels,it would have been nice,and the characters design is not that good,look at Uncharted 4 ,I think the characters were greatly well done, there is a great competition these days when it comes to how a character looks and how believable it is.That all is just my opinion as a fan.
Yeah the character realism competition is probably one of the reasons for the change. Everyone is in a race to have the best looking characters.

Leon & Claire are NEXT. They are doing the same thing for RE2 Remake. Perhaps they will do better casting. I think they may have wanted to make Chris look more real and thats why they changed him, blaming the tech. But the next ones may do better casting.
Well good luck finding anyone who looks like them then. This will just turn into a generic triple A horror game if they walked this path, and i always loved RE for it's unique characters, and that's what made it stand out from the rest of the horror games.
