the people on black shirts are called SPOTTERS. They're the one that assist during lifts; it is to help the BASE (the one lifting) to catch the FLYER (the one being lifted) to avoid accidents.

@@kayematildeposo2141 Yeah, helps to know right off the bat rather than figuring it out later, figuring it out wrong or not figuring it out at all! I don't know anything about cheerleading and the explanation was much appreciated! :D
Just to correct. Yes they are called spotters but they dont help to lift. In every competition there are separate spotting rules. For CDC (uaap) spotters MUST "spot" , and prepare other necessary props and things needed . They don't lift they just spot whether the flyer will wobble and fall. 🙂

they do guide the performers on the run. Say for example a dancer might forget what to do. or when a flyer must perform a specific stunt they use special signs and gestures so that dancers wont forget the routine.
Cheerdance competition here in PH is a massive serious competition... It brings Pride, Honor, Status, Morale and Fame in every UNIVERSITY.

Hi, regarding to the colorful feathers, they represent the "SARIMANOK". The Sarimanok, also known as papanok in its feminine form, is a legendary bird of the Maranao people who originate from Mindanao, an island in the Philippines and part of the Philippine Mythology. It comes from the words "sari" and "manok." "Sari" means cloth or garment, which is generally of assorted colors and "Manok" means chicken. 🙂

UAAP tournament season is one of the most prestigious events in the Philippines. It stages tournaments for different sports, pitting the several universities here in the Philippines against one another. The cheerleading (pep squad) competition is one of the most talked about competition every season.

They are the one who won the 2019 UAAP cheerdance compi.
This cheer leaders competition has been a tremendous success from all different colleges and Universities in Philippines. Surely students are looking forward for this kind of events. Mabuhay Ang Filipino.❤️💐
Yea there's world cheerleading competitions and they bagged gold too. Other team who won in world cheerleading competitions is University of the Philippines Pep Squad.
Another set of cheerleading competitions in the country is NCAA (National Collegiate Athlethics Association) cheering competition. This is composed of some of major colleges. UAAP is composed of universities.
The concept on the latter part wasn’t about peacock or eagle, it is inspired by a mythical bird here in the Philippines called “Sarimanok”.
Mythical Chicken rather or chicken like creature.
Well birds are those animals with body composition of feathers, wings, and beak. Chicken has that so yeah they’re considered a bird.

Pep/Cheerleading Competition is one of the highlights of UAAP. It is a friendly competition of all the Major/Top Universities in the Philippines. Philippine University students always look forward for this event every year. Students tend to practice for a whole year to perfectly execute the routine intricately. Maybe if you're in luck, when you come here to the Philippines it maybe UAAP Season. 🥰🥰🥰
I love that this type of cheerleading has gone outside of the USA and has touched other places because it's very fascinating to watch my heart always drops when they throw those girls up in the air

This is true. I remember we were *required* to participate in cheerleading when I was in senior HS as extra-curricular activity. Other dances as well not just cheerleading though.

Fun fact: In the curriculum here in Philippines, cheer dancing is taught and in my case, we had a practical during Grade 10 where we choreographed our own dance and did basic liftings. We weren't allowed to hire people to teach us but we still did XD It was a very fun experience for me.

..,UAAP and NCAA are the most awaited university event here in the Philippines. most watched are basketball, volleyball and cheering competition of UAAP, always big venue always crowded, high energy both players and watchers!
This type of cheerdancing was prepared for 1 year to perform with a lot of people as this cheerdancer are from different colleges in the Philippines some of them leave and graduate so they have to find a new member every year and also every year they come up with a new theme for their cheerdance so every performance will definitely be different all of this people train while studying in college so you can say they are pretty talented and hard working just to represent their college
Their are more performance in UAAP where they only show lifts and tricks only
Cheerleading is actually a big thing here in philippines, last i think this month all of the grade 10 students (highschool) performed their own cheerdance (last mapeh performance for their school year) grade 10 cheerleading is not as fancy but it is cool to watch highschool kids do it

UAAP Cheerleading competition is a competition where great cheerleaders of famous universities forms a group to present their school's name, together with many other sports.
This type of cheerleading started in America we've had cheerleading competitions wherever it's even on ESPN which is a sports network.
But this was actually a really cool routine I enjoyed it there really good and very brave LOL

When I was in college, I also took part in dancing cheer dance before. Out of more or less 20 sections, we're grateful to get the 2nd place. Haha it was really the most challenging yet most exciting and enjoyable part of my college stint. I felt so proud of it hahaha

I remember the days when we we’re practicing the pyramid and I was on top because I’m lighter

As a former cheerleader myself who also competed in the UAAP, doing these stunts aren't that easy. As being one of the flyers, it takes a lot of muscle control, core strength, and balance. Well I think a lot of their stunts were imitated from my team during my time (it was around 10 yrs or more than 10 yrs ago, and I'm that old now 😅). The cheerleaders of this school during my time used to be underdogs, their performance used to be like an intermission.. so glad that made a lot of improvement and much to show -- actually all cheerleaders from each university have all improved compared to more than 10 yrs ago.. hehe...
