    We have a 2014 Model Outlander PHEV (in Australia) and very happy with it!
    Unfortunately, we have zero tax incentives here in Australia for EV’s and hybrids.

    I have a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander GT and kinda should have bought the PHEV, but mine is pretty good and can handle quite a lot. I took it on a long road trip, off road, climb mountains to get to a camp site, and it handle it all. A Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid or Gas is a best buy for anyone that is looking for a SUV that can do a lot and still do simple stuff. When I went camping, I had 6 people, my gear, pop up tent on the roof, and 4 bikes on a tow hitch bike rack and the Outlander handled like nothing was there. IF anything were to happen to my Outlander I plan to buy this Hybrid version next😉 I highly recommend this brand and SUV to everyone!

    What's up with those paddles? They look nicer than paddles in most sport sedans (especially Audis... the set in the S4 are laughable for a car in that price range), not to mention they're column-mounted (like they should be), yet they don't even control the transmission!

    • @MattMaranMotoring
      @MattMaranMotoring  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      They're a carryover from the Evo. I guess it was cheaper to use an existing design even if it's metal, rather than design new plastic ones. But yeah, they put Audi paddles to shame and are really a nice touch for enthusiasts.

    • @peteyification
      @peteyification 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That makes sense... They remind me of the paddles in the Giulia, and that's saying something... Shame Mitsubishi doesn't make anything worth buying (for me, at least).

      The paddles control the amount of regeneration, you can drive without touching the brakes using these.

    Would you review a GT with the 3.0 V6

  • @Trades46
    @Trades46 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    My father owned an Outlander V6 and he traded his in for a PHEV last month - one of the first 10 to arrive in Ontario I was told - it also ended up cheaper than a comparable Rav4 Hybrid since provincial EV rebates bring the prices down. Awesome vehicle, but the dealership experience has been less than stellar. That's likely the only downside when dealing with Mitsubishi.

    Matt, This was a great review, Well Done, covered everything well. I am Happy to see Mitsubishi is putting quality back into their lineup. I was impressed with the regular Outlander GT as well. I hope you review the new Eclipse Cross, I think that is a great package and well priced, plus the 10 year Warranty. Just wish they didn't name it the Eclipse Cross. Should have a different name.

    i've owned 2 v6 outlanders...i'm dealing with major quality issues....and mitsu and their dealers don't really do much to help. i put alot of emphasis on "made in japan" ....but wow...pretty bad. lots of issues...brake system failed and caused major paint damage on structural components...no remedy from the company. Only 4 months into ownership of new car...now i'm looking for lemon law lawyers in my area...add the cost of that to the cost of the car and i could've been driving around in a lexus for that money

    is there a scenario where this car would have to run solely on gas, eg: depleted battery ? Is it able to power the motors with the generator only or does it need to have at least some charge in the battery ? The reason I ask is because I wouldn't like to depend on the 2.0L engine doing only 117 HP in this heavy car. That would be a very unpleasant drive. Other than that the car seems fantastic. Thanks

    I was able to test drive this SUV and I liked it a lot, the shifter reminded me of my Nissan Leaf but I got the Kia Optima PHEV and I love it, has some Stinger characteristics fun to drive, and I am in EV most of the time so I gas it up every three or 4 weeks. So now I have 2 EV's.

    I wonder if Mitsubishi is that good to make hybrid cars then why they don't make the hybrid version of The Mirage model if they do that it's can beat the Toyota Prius gas mileage. I have a mirage and I get 38 miles per gallon combined and it's not even a hybrid car

    • @brandon.rondeau
      @brandon.rondeau 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      letsroll Someone finally agrees with me! They have no enthusiast vehicles ever since they killed off the Evo. And their regular cars suck. The Lancer is outdated, the Mirage is a cheap-ass P.O.S., and the Outlander Sport has no sporty qualities to it. And, to make matters worse, they ruined the legacy of the original Eclipse with the new Eclipse Cross. Mitsubishi needs to GTFO of the automotive industry before they can screw with another model's reputation

    I test drove the regular Outlander GT 3.0 and the only thing that I could take from the experience is how cheap the entire car felt. Nothing about it felt solid or quality. What gives??? Is the Hybrid just better build construction and quality? Or do we have to not tell the truth because we don't want to upset the manufacturer?

    • @Trades46
      @Trades46 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Build quality is better. The leather used in the PHEV GT model actually is thicker than the stuff used in 3.0L GT (dealer had them side by side so comparison was easy). It is also a heck a lot quieter in EV operation, but the car does feel noticeably heavier. If you drive with a lead foot however you should look elsewhere.

    Awesome review Matt. I have watched all your wrx sti reviews 2 which are the best on TH-cam. I just got a Demo 2020 Outlander Phev with only 2600km in Perth Western Australia. I had a 2014 model previously for 3 years & regretted selling it so am beyond stoked to have the newer model which looks awesome & has alot of major improvements including bigger quieter 2.4l engine, bigger 13.6kwh battery with 60km of range & slightly more powerful rear motor. Not sure if you will get this model in the states as the newer Outlander has arrived but believe me is a phenomenal car especially given the price point, regenerative paddles & ability to charge up every day & use hardly any fuel for months on end unless you go on a road trip. Keep up the awesome reviews!

    I drove this the other day and was disappointed in the quality of the vehicle. The interior felt cheap and rushed. The steering column even has a plug blank where a keyed ignition might have gone. Really sad vehicle. Your reviews are too fawning and do not point out the true flaws.
