I looooove Kalandra! Katrine Stenbekk is a phenomenal vocalist, but the entire band is great. I would highly recommend "Brave New World" live at Kulturkirken Jakob next! That was before they had a permanent drummer, so a pretty cool little surprise there.
Kalandra is all about enthralling harmonies and beautiful melodic lines in tasty rock package mixing present day instruments with the old ones. They do hard songs as masterfully as the soft ones. And, they have fantastic music videos. As for recommendation, it goes as with Aurora. Every song of theirs is great. It is a mystery to me, why they are not world famous already.
I've been quite obsessed with this live performance and specifically with the voice inflections that do not appear on the studio version. I heard in an interview of the singer that she uses vocal techniques from many different cultures, so yeah it could be a middle east influence. Cheers from France !
Another great reaction, thanks for that. I think you would also love EIVOR a singer from the faroer islands with "Falling Free" life at the old theatre in Thorhaven. She has a fantastic voice and the song is building to no end.
I highly recommend their songs Brave New World (the live at Kulturkirken Jacob version), Bardaginn (music video) and their latest music video for 'I AM'
Katrine the leadsinger in Kalandra is a big fan of world music and the female voice. The Middle East is one of them and you where right about Aurora (the soul with no king) the intro got a strong Middle East vibe and the endfrasing is typical Norwegian Folk. I recomend Kalandra's Lullaby (live at Storås.) Katrine is playing around with some soundeffects on her voice and the bild up and dynamics is fantastic. They are releasing their second album the 13 this month. Love your channel❤
Don't feel bad about hearing Middle Eastern vibes, Kalandra is naturally influenced by Nordic traditional/folk music and in fact, nearly all traditional music in the world (including the Middle Eastern and Nordic ones) use the same musical scale (pentatonic), the way they are distinct has more to do with how they use the rhythm (and what instrument they use) than the way melodies are constructed so it's perfectly normal to hear similarities. Kalandra is a wonderful band, they clearly deserve to be better known (they are slowly but surely growing though).
Kalandra is an amazing band! Their music is just... I have no words. You M U S T listen to their song "Borders"! Watch the official video pliz. That song will transport you somewhere else... Be safe
Such a great great song by this great Norwegian band absolutely awesome!!!!

Yes! Me too after hearing the studio version is slightly different. Amazing.
Yay! Kalandra and Eivør are both top tier. ❤
I'm going to see them in concert in a week 🥳

My personal fav Kalandra song, which speaks to my soul.. is ‘Borders’. Official video suggested. ❤❤❤
I've recently recorded a reaction to that one. Stay tuned, it will be uploaded in the next week or two!

You should do 'Waiting Game' next. Or 'Brave New World'. But leave 'Borders' til last.
What I wouldn't give for a fraction of your enthusiasm. Present.
Next GEM: Eivør!! ;)
