    You are so pretty, thanks for giving a glimpse into how you grow Amaryllis. I have been growing Red Lion Amaryllis for almost 10 years now. Sadly I lost 3 "mother" bulbs for some reason; maybe due to a touch of scorch. I never liked forcing my bulbs to bloom for the Holidays. As soon as 1 would start to wake up, then I would pot them up. Sometimes it was February and once or twice they woke up closer to March. With the slower "rise and shine" I was able to use them in my garden (Canada zone 3) which gave my garden scape such a wonderful shade of red.
    One thing I have noticed though when planting the bulbs a touch too deep. The size of the bulbs reduce dramatically, as if they choke due to lack of light and air.
    With the dozen or so bulbs I own via pups, only a couple send spikes. Luckily I am a very patient man and will enjoy plenty of blooms for years to come.

    Very nice and thank you for the video which has been very informative. I live in Cyprus so the Amaryllis are grown outdoors here.

    I have watched many, many videos recently on the potting and care of amaryllis bulbs. Your video is so simple and to the point!! Love that. I also really enjoyed seeing the bulbs being planted in the fields, how awesome. Thank you for sharing.

    Hi, this is the first video I've seen of field grown hippis. Since you don't remove the outer dried scales, how in the world do you know if it's infested with a Narcissus fly grub? I live in NY, and all 4 that I planted outdoors last summer were affected, which I wouldn't have known, until I took all the dried skins off and found the entrance hole and then the big caverns inside. The fly affects all of N America. I'd prefer to cut the necks back too when they go into storage, but I have a plant to keep my 18 new bulbs safe this spring/summer, until the fly mating season is over with!

      We keep them in storage until we plant them in October in greenhouses for our cut flower production. They are in a controlled environment and not exposed to too much moisture

    Hi there thanks for the video I just plante one up last week monte blanc white was a huge bulk ,I was told to plant it then put in dark closet and once it shows green then bring out to the light and start to water,so not sure if that’s the right way so when do you fertilize

    • @nicolettesinspirations
      @nicolettesinspirations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With Amaryllis, if they are new bulbs to you, they don't need to be put in the dark. They don't need to be fertilized. Once the bulbs bloom I will do another video on how to treat them for the next season. Thank you 🌺
