I used to go fishing for those with my father in some dark muddy water, it was connected to the river but basically a pond. I remember those sharp barbs, didnt know they actually injected anything.
A beetle spinner works well with a bright colored mister twister. Also if you get stung the slime from the underbelly will neutralize the stinging venom from the dorsal and pectoral spines
Bro I can’t believe this but I know exactly where you are dude 😮😂. That’s the dam beneath the cannon river reservoir isn’t it? That’s so crazy, I go fishing there all the time since my family’s cabin isn’t far from there. Small world indeed.

bullheads always scared me as a child, haha. i always thought it was the front stringy things from their face were the stinging part. learned something new today!
The crazy thing is bullheads in Florida get over 7lbs and my record is 3.56lbs I did no know it was such a drastic difference from state to state I've caught yellow and brown bullheads
Dang, i was fishing a really poor lake last open water season for sunfish to bring home and eat for dinner. I saw my bobber go down and it stayed down. I set the hook and it set me off guard. I thought i got snagged on a rock, because i set that hook somewhat aggressively, but the only thing that happened was my rod bent almost in two, and whatever i hooked did not budge an inch. Im trying to real in my setup, but i feel a very large fish fighting back, i assumed i must be hooked on a pretty decent pike. I get it closer to the dock and realize it kinda looks like a bass in the water. I grab the net and pull it up, it was a 3 pound yellow bullhead on 4 pound mono, lol. I have caught similar sized bullhead pretty often and didnt realize the state record was that small. Knowing what you've said, I've likely caught a bullhead much larger than the state record. 😂
I would have to look at the pictoral fin barb, but I think those are yellow bullhead, not black bullhead. Cool fish anyways about it! Good luck with your quest!
I forgot where but there is a dam in mn where I went on opener and there was thousands of bullhead schooled up. It was insane! You could snag them with one hook!
Was that record bullhead a brown bullhead? They have that mottling and are generally bigger than black and yellow bullhead. They're more of a big lake catfish than a pond or river catfish.
Are they like invasive or anything?also at the end of the vids can you say smt like if they are invasive say like “ these fish are invasive so dont relese them back in the watter “ or the opposite if they are good
We actually do the EXACT same thing when we go fishing and it works every time
it's a pretty universal bait, we have similar stuff in my country too
I've caught these things with a grass blade super aggressive fish
You can also use Kool-Aid in some raw chicken
Chicken prices to high for all that lol
@@EasyCoastL lmao you're not wrong
Bruh, it's like $.99 per pound. Maybe 3 bucks per pound of you go somewhere like Target.
I like bullheads. When I was younger, I kept some in an aquarium. They would eat worms right from your fingers. Really neat fish
They’re a bit skittish though, hard to feed when you have a more active fish in the tank

This is my childhood spot! You don't even need a rod... there's so many you can scoop them up with a fishing net.
Bro is trying to complete the fish compendium like in RDR2
Used to fish for these on the Crow River in Delano, MN when I was a kid. So easy and fun to catch.
I don’t even flavor the hotdogs. Catfish love it. I’ve caught them off of straight up twizzler pieces as well.
I saw you yesterday at the woolen mills yesterday at faribo . I was wearing a tan sweater. You helped me throw fish into the top part of the dam . 😮
Love your vids keep it going
Thanks! Will do!

Faibault mill dam. Crazy bullhead. The other dam has more
In Europe, we are lucky if we catch some that are half that size.
The really tiny ones are the worst when it comes to stinging.

Down here in the south, bullheads are absolutely everywhere, but especially creeks.
Is it weird that I’d rather catch bullhead over channels? They’re really rare where I live for some reason.
