Synthetic clay pads are better to use if you are not paint correcting afterwards. The clay bar shown in the video can be used but is generally a little more aggressive. Also waxing should be done in straight lines instead of circles like we've been taught. Circular scratches are easier for light to catch and to be seen. Using straight lines limits the edges to help avoid fine scratches being seen. The car may be as clean as possible but without every precaution taken still expect small scratches in the clear.

Make sure all covers and fluid caps are completely closed

Soap it up and scrub
Then rinse it off with water.
Do this for each tire
Body
Throw or pressure wash soapy water all over your car quickly to lift off all the dirt and grime
Then get two different buckets
One with soapy water to clean the car
One to rinse off the car
USE terry cotton mitts to clean your car since they hold the dirt deeper (9:06)
BUT best to use is the MICROFIBRE DREADLOCK HAND MITTS
So now get your soapy water bucket and work top to bottom
Clean the hood, roof and trunk first
Now rinse off the top (w/ water hose)
Second part, wash the moldings of the car all the way around (Top half of the doors and fenders and etc)
Then rinse it all off (w/ water hose)
Now wash the bottom half of the car (bumpers, skirts, bottom door, etc)
Now Rinse it all off (w/ water or hose)
Claybar
Note: Claybar cleans and gets rid of all the dirt and gunk embedded in the paint
Dry off the spots you don’t need to claybar like the glass so you don’t get water marks on them using a large microfibre
Get your clybar and clay bar lubricant, spray the lube then scrub with claybar
Use a nice, light pressure
Time consuming, since you have to do the whole car
You will feel the whole car smoothing up, the more passes you make.
Waxing
You need Paste wax and an applicator
Put it onto the surface with a light pressure in circles throughout the whole car
If you get it on plastic trim, wipe it off right away with a damp towel because it will stain the trim and it is very hard to get it off
Once the whole car is waxed and dried, buff it off with a clean microfibre
Finishing Touches
Use the dressing for all the rubbers, plastics and tires around the car

with good reason, although it should be splash proof, a jet wash will ruin electronic controls. Nobody wants the A/C not working on a hot day.
When you get to that top replacement vid just know you’ll need 3/16 medium rivets to put a new top on the frame and a couple beers to calm you down because that’s hands down the worst part of a Miata
3:13 i thought zach had mutant feet for a second XD
I remember watching videos of Zach teaching me how to change turbos on my 135i. Now that's gone and I'm watching him again on how to build a Z and project tips and tricks. Crazy.
detailing your car is therapeutic, a part of self care is taking care of your ride.
LOL it's "clean a Miata week" between Donut and Throtl
I guess me too.
ChrisFix: “Am I a joke to you?”
“Whatever sucks the hardest”
How am I supposed to vacuum with life
Good tip for drying your car. Don’t use a dry micro fused towel. Wet it then ring it out till it’s just damp. The water will attract the water on your car. Props to ammo nyc for that tip. Works great.
I didn't think Donut could get better than Up To Speed, but this is my new favorite show. Keep it up!
Damn 9 comments that's a first love this series
The next episode should be about upgrading the stock speakers and buying a subwoofer
3:32 sorry I think you mean soapy WOODER
Edit: 8:05 is a bit better..
THE BOP IT NOISES. Yall are so clever. Donut is the goat
This series makes me wanna have a Miata just because it all seems so simple. I’m imagining what if have to do for even something simple like this in my car and a drop top Miata is so incredibly easy compared to a Station Wagon
Miatas are very sought after cars. Good luck finding one that isn't trashed or overpriced.
Hey Donut, I love watching your videos, but I sometimes get confused with all the fancy numbers and car parts. Could you guys do a cars 101 episode for all us people who do not have the same mechanical knowledge? #mopowababy
Zack: “Whatever sucks the hardest”
Me: “Hey Shelly, can you come over for a second?”
11:45 reminded me of Big Z from Surfs Up when he's making a surf board
Heads up, isopropyl alcohol can damage finishes, and hurt plastics in particular. It wiped off a little bit of the black of my trim. Be careful with using IPA.
Yeah I just clean my hands with it before getting in my vehicle.
I like how every Donut video with Zach really gives me so much info
"whatever sucks the hardest"
me : *calling back my ex*
“Soap and wooder” I see you like chrisfix🙃
Zach: Use what ever sucks the hardest!
Me: okay, Imma use my life then.
Night and day difference on those interior and engine bay. Now it doesn't really look like a beater car. Nice job and great video guys

Enkei RPF1’s: Am I a joke to you
Chrisfix approves✅
A while ago I watched this series to know how to replace parts
Now I want a Miata exactly like yours
Clay bar: generally I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you're intending on polishing the car afterwards. From my experience, clay bar will lift the dirt from your paint, but can sometimes scratch it (even when lubricated properlly). Just my 2 cents on it.
