Love the content, the last dozen videos have been gold! Although honestly, I wouldn't put my life solely in the hands of the jack stands. I made that big leap on a project car and made it even more so a leap as it being my daily on an 88 suzuki samurai. Ive pulled 52 feet and 10 inches of useless wire, deleted the entire R22 AC system, breather to the intake & valve cover, oil pan leak fix, throw out bearing fix, tore out rubber cemented in carpet & epoxy painted the interior, installed a bluetooth reciever & speakers, multiple gauges, EGR delete, LED headlight upgrade, wiper brace armor, and so much more to come and Ive never been happier with a purchase that Ive made 2 years and some change ago. This lil thing turns heads and rips and theres always something more I want to add onto it, hell might even twin charge it after all the engine upgrades.
"People like him, people like me, we love pieces of crap like this, and we love spending our spare time working on em.". 😂 Story of the last four years of my life.
Throw out bearings are durable on these cars, more than likely, clutch out "whirring" noise is the transmission input shaft bearing. Would love for you guys to stop by: the premier AE86 facility on the West Coast. CM Autohaus / Battle Garage RS Fremont, CA.
When you buy an old 86, it's always going to be a project car. Finding an untouched / undamaged 86 is going to be worth 10k+ or super rare. You just have to accept this with the famous 86. Sometimes you've got to undo the mods and start over. This is a real Money pit
Need to re-watch all of this guy’s videos so I can count how many delivery men walk by in the background lol. So far, 1 in this one, and I think 1 in the last one 😂👌🏼
When you find that gem you've been wanting and waiting and waiting and wanting forever... the first POS that pops up in your price range is pure gold no matter its issues. There is a reason is called a project car... Like you're not gonna dive in and project it to hell or perfection. ---Just my two cents.
Absolutely. There's certain things I can pass off until I find a good deal, but when I REALLY want something I will get it and disregard all the problems. It's how I ended up buying my WRX and taking the engine and trans out at my uncles house, then driving 15 hours back home with a leaking turbo and exposed fender well air intake. That will be a drive I tell my grandkids about haha.
I find it's always worth replacing the timing belt on a car you've just bought unless it comes with a receipt for one put on, and you can see it's clearly new. My car, the previous owner told me "Nah, it's fine, you just check them", and I pulled a cover off and the belt was cracking and half the idlers were fucked.
Working on an 86 looks so much easier than working on my AW11 mr2, it’s the same exact engine but the space in the 86 makes it look much more enjoyable
I can't tell you how much I love this series! Money Pit always gives me a good laugh and makes my day better. Not to mention all the useful information! Currently working on restoring an 89 Chevy c1500, my dad sold his three motorcycles and bought the chevy when he heard my mom was preggers with me and this show has been helping me restore it to its former glory! Thank you for everything!
that is awesome! good luck on your project man. My father used to own a Kenmeri Skyline that he had to sell when I was born, I've seen the pictures of him and the car and I wish that I could find it and restore it to it's former glory as well, even if now, 27 years later, it's collecting weeds and dust on a field somewhere.

AE86: Belts squealing
James: That's just the supercharger
Mo powa babeh
My brain: "Everything is wrong on the car I shouldn't drive it."
My heart: "LESSSS GO FOR A SPINNN BOIIII."
GASSS GASSS GASSSSSSSSSSSS
I'M GONNA STEP ON THE GASSSSS
Love the content, the last dozen videos have been gold! Although honestly, I wouldn't put my life solely in the hands of the jack stands. I usually try to leave the floor jack up to the chassis in case of an accident of failure of equipment. Let the car down on the stands, and then bring floor jack up to chassis height. Might save your life
infinity war is the biggest crossover in history:
James and Zach:
Hold our trueno
yes but no cus Corolla GT-S or SR5 or something
James: I got the car from the toon
Weebs: yare yare i must drift you off this mountain now
@Federal Bureau of Investigation *jumps of a cliff in a mr2*
“He’s going over that cliff!!!!”
Should've gotten a blue 240z from the other cartoon.
That car from the toon is gonna get waxxed by a Prius or Jazz
Federal Bureau of Investigation STAR PLATINUM ZA WARUUDO ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA
5:10 C8 Corvette in the background, don’t know if I’m the only one who saw that
Came down here to comment that :)
A blue one too. Looks good
Saw it
King Tyler was about to comment too

3 years later still top of the list to rewatch. We need a 50 ep like this again
''everything broken on the car'' - craingslist: in perfect condition

James: "I think I'll buy someone else's project car"
AE86: "I'll teach you a lesson"
James's new car: leaks so muck oil. The US army: well let me help with that
Hey at least it will never need an oil change since it always has fresh oil 🤔
"Looks like your Corolla needs some democracy, and FREEDOM!"
hahhahahahah
US: *hears James's car puking oil*
US: *pulls up in a tank with American flag* Looks like your Corolla needs some FREEDOM!
*blasts 'MURICA music*
Could also feel a wheel bearing shaking left and right... And ball joints by shaking up and down. Only certain cars really need the pry bar trick.
Lol I remember 2 years ago when James voice was so calm when talking and now hes screaming like a little kid 😂😂
He seems so much more comfortable now than in those old videos. And lively lol
He just added MOPOWAHBABEH into his voice.
LIGHTNING! LIGHTNING! LIGHTNING!
I kinda miss the mellow James
Netflix: are you still watching?

I really like zach jobe matter in fact he's my favorite the way he breaks down car parts and advice inspired me to be a knowledge able mechanic, then I got hooked on to computers
The difference between “pop up headlights” and “pop up and down headlights”
Honestly, I'd rather they stick up rather than down.
Shout out to UPS for the delivery service during this pandemic 🙌 17:41
The expression on his face was like "fuck, more heavy packages are coming"
It was global but now it's more US centered.
He was here last episode too
Oooo the big boogie man covid 19. Quit watching the news. Shit ain't that bad.
"People like him, people like me, we love pieces of crap like this, and we love spending our spare time working on em.". 😂 Story of the last four years of my life.
I can relate ☝️
Ha ha right!!
story of the last 13 years of my life lol and i have had 3 of these ae86's but all coupes.
I would love to see more of the ae86
Throw out bearings are durable on these cars, more than likely, clutch out "whirring" noise is the transmission input shaft bearing. Would love for you guys to stop by: the premier AE86 facility on the West Coast. CM Autohaus / Battle Garage RS Fremont, CA.
Ironically I think you just helped me figure out what’s wrong with my Scion FR-S transmission
@@matt25675 same with my r31 skyline transmission
3:11 “Let’s rip this little turd” 5 seconds later... “THIS THING IS SICK!!!”
I think that was a little TRD joke, cause the seat belt cover
seanissomething Haha didn’t think about that until now!! 😂
13:40 you forgot transmission output shaft seals, super easy and cheap replacement, that seal is like 3$ and quite commonly worn out.
The "Idk pump I think you're doing okay" and then James going "ALLLRIGHT!" might be my favorite Donut moment of all time
When you buy an old 86, it's always going to be a project car. Finding an untouched / undamaged 86 is going to be worth 10k+ or super rare. You just have to accept this with the famous 86. Sometimes you've got to undo the mods and start over. This is a real Money pit
Over here their making around 15-20k (euro) so about 17-23k usd
Need to re-watch all of this guy’s videos so I can count how many delivery men walk by in the background lol. So far, 1 in this one, and I think 1 in the last one 😂👌🏼
Doesn't he room with a couple car guys with a couple project cars themselves? They're probably making the most out of the quarantine.
Yup there so far only 2 in a row HAHA
Jareth Solis yeah probably lol
Love how you guys were social distancing throughout the whole video. Great effort!! Great video too!!
Pumphrey legit just made the new guy fix hes new shitbox for him lmaoo
I'm jealous, not gonna lie. Seems like the perfect 80's JDM project, nice get James.
How the fuck is this a JDM? It's a left hand drive car. Japanese Domestic Market are right hand drive.
lokisgodhi why u so aggressive
@@lokisgodhi relax guy
Technically, it's made from Japan, so it's still a JDM car
@@lokisgodhi Oh boy, you really got me. Take a breather man I know this is hard for you.
At that point if it isn't in pieces and doesn't look like a rusty roach turd you're gonna buy it.
What I always surprised - how do you guys know all these small mechanical stuff.....and able to fix them by yourself. Great episode, no words.
Answer:
You actually work on cars?: Yes, it’s worth.
You don’t know?: LEARN WITH A PROJECT😂
I'm exactly learning with my project :D
Yeah, I'm having to learn to weld frames up!
Unless your name is Dustin Williams, then you have like 10 cars but have no clue how to work on them
I find it's always worth replacing the timing belt on a car you've just bought unless it comes with a receipt for one put on, and you can see it's clearly new.
My car, the previous owner told me "Nah, it's fine, you just check them", and I pulled a cover off and the belt was cracking and half the idlers were fucked.
86: checked
kouki style: checked
watanabi style rims: checked
popups: checked
white color: not checked
fujiwara tofu shop sign: not checked
*initial D nostalgia*
foglights: checked
He should do it inverted. Like white tofu shop logo and a little white side panel
Fair enough, but I really like that this car has its own personality and style separate from a Fujiwara... livery? Does that term work there?
UPS guy cameos are my favorite reoccurring segment.
What if he was just delivering turbo parts for the miata!?
James: ITS THE CAR FROM THE CARTOON!!!
Me: Excuse me, what did you just say?
That made me facepalm.
Animes are cartoons. Get over it.
It's quite clear he's saying it as a meme though.
Anime is from word _Anima_-tion , pretty sure Japanese also call Family Guy anime too.
@@HyperVanilo Nope family guy its defientley not anime.
16:17 kids DO NOT and I repeat do not solder wires in a car. Use connectors and heat shrink. Soldered joints are extremely rigid and any movement causes cracking and breakage 🤘
This is like bunta checking on the 86 after takumi has raced😂😂😂
17:41 I enjoyed the random delivery guy
