I ordered a Canyon Red Interceptor this morning from our local dealer in Crowthorne. I was told there would be at least a 3-4 week wait before delivery. I was already planning to fit the original Continental GT Touring seat, but this one looks an even better option, so I ordered one from Hitchcocks. No doubt the first purchase of many other accessories. Many thanks for posting this video Stuart. I have been a subscriber since you bought the Interceptor and your excellent videos have given me many pointers in the direction that I want to take mine. Also looking forward to try out the 'Full Fillingham' when the bike finally arrives.

Looks good Stuart, Hitchcock’s didn’t have that version of the seat when I bought it. Both the seat and the cowl on my bike came from Hitchcock’s Motorcycles who are awesome to deal with I must say. I too had issue with my seat when I got it . Would go on ok but not lock in well and when I would get off the seat it seem to come out of the locking mechanism. I fixed this by removing the locking mechanism and put two small thin washers underneath it to raise it up a millimeter to better engage the lock . After that I didn’t have that issue anymore maybe like you said it would fit better now that it’s been on the bike for thousands of miles . Cheers JK.

Stuart, you have a talent for putting out the perfect video right when I'm thinking about a purchase. I've been eyeing the seat upgrade options for my Int650 since I've noticed a bit of soreness after about an hour of riding. I was checking out this particular model from Hitchcock's trying to decide if I wanted to get it shipped all the way across the pond but I think this video made my mind up. I think the black seat with red stitching and a white cowl is going to look fantastic with my Baker Express paint job. Thanks for the help!

That is a really sweet setup, great one up look when riding by yourself and easy conversion when the significant other want a ride. I saw this seat, and asked if it was convertible, in another video. I should have known you already answered my question!

Ok Stuart, the seat and rear cowl certainly give the Continental GT that Cafe Racer look, it's reassuring to know that RE are offering quality aftermarket components for their range of motorcycles. A black gloss bikini fairing would be the icing on the cake in my opinion, Cafe Racers look great with a small fairing around the headlight. I'm old enough to remember the original Continental GT in 250cc form, it simply had a small clear fly screen above the headlamp, it was a very 1960's look.

This is a beautiful addition to your bike. The next idea would be a dedicated cowl seat in which the cowl is a small, hinged, storage compartment.

Had to laugh Stuart. My partner rides a Continental GT, and I fitted the rear seat cowl about 12 months ago, every time o take it off and refit it I have to go back and adjust the finisher discs so they the right way up. Good to see I’m not alone.
I think the seat and cowl are both a complement to the bike, very pleasing to the eye.
I winced when you said "flat black", and relaxed when you pulled out the gloss.
The cowl really completes the look
trade expression to differentiate a solid colour from pearl or metallic, not to be confused with matt !
@@stuartfillingham Regional thing I suppose. "flat" is synonymous with "matte" around these parts, "solid black" would differentiate from metallic etc., unless you're Harley then you call it "vivid" and trademark it, because well, why not!

I just installed the new premium dual touring seat for the interceptor and it is pretty firm and comfortable . The style and finish is beautiful as well. You should maybe check that one out as well.
Uncle Stu. (and I do appreciate having an uncle 9 years younger) I have an 06 Rocket 3 but have about gotten too old for a half ton motorbike. I was seriously looking at the bobber black but I imagine it is fairly heavy as well. After binge watching your channel for the past month I have shifted towards the Continental G T. My local dealership has one but I don't know what year it is. Thanks for the informative videos from an experienced rider.

I have the single seat version of this upgrade - with the single cowl. Went for a ride yesterday (an annual trip to my old stamping grounds over the Lincs Wolds) & ended up doing nearly 250 miles with one short stop for a pee at Cadwell Park. It's amazing how comfy such an uncomfortable looking bike is - when I've done this on my previous Street Triple or Yam MT07 i've felt knackered. Did sleep well though last night.....
Hi, how much of an upgrade in terms of comfort would you consider the single seat over the stock one? Do you have an Interceptor or Continental GT 650? I am considering it for my Interceptor whose stock seat is horrendously uncomfortable.
@@twowheeledparadox Hi - yes I found the standard seat on my Conti GT unsuitable for long rides. I bought the solo seat & hump as it was offered to me at a great price from a custom shop who never got round to fitting it! The seat material is more plush even though it's not any thicker than the original seat & it looks uncomfortable - especially teamed with the lower bars on the Conti when compared to the Inter - but it just locked me into a good position & just felt so much better. I did my 265 mile round trip on 3 consecutive weekends when we had that great weather last Summer. Your riding position will be a little different but I'd still give the single seat a try. I sold my Conti in November & bought an SWM Gran Milano, which has a similar single seat conversion & it was the experience on the Conti that didn't put me off, otherwise on looks alone I'd have been wincing just looking at it........
@@SteeeveO Ah, that's interesting. Yes, the riding position will be different on my bike but it looks so good and has the bump which should keep me in a proper position. I find the thin and hard seat on my 2019 390 Duke more comfortable than that on my Interceptor. I think the width and the stepped shape has something to do with it. I assume the single GT seat will give me some tail bone support too. I am definitely inclined towards getting it in red to match my Mark 2, though it is slightly on the expensive side even here in India. Thanks for your feedback!

Top notch video Stuart. I’ve got the Ice Queen with the touring seat & cowl. Looks way nicer than the single seat/cowl combo.
Looking at exhaust upgrade next. Any thoughts about doing similar or are you happy with the stock set-up?

I brought my battle green a couple of months back. L O V E the bike.
RE owner don't seem to stop at one bike though 🤔......so in keeping with that tradition, I'm buying a new Continental GT in 2022.
I've got some ideas on dressing it up a little. I was going to put a racing number on each side of the cowl?
But upon reflection, I'm thinking about doing black numbers on a yellow background on each side plate & a Union Jack each side of the cowl?
Have researched the color scheme for the race plate numbers, but am having difficulty understanding if the black on yellow is correct for it?
As in the the correct class?
I see you can also obtain a headlight cross, made of leather, it think?

I got my cowl a month ago and now that I see it fits with the premium I would go for that seat! Just one comment from experience, the finishers are prone to decoloration by sunlight rather quickly, mine has mostly lost the black color already. Sun is harsh in my country and I have to leave the bike at the sun during work, so take that in mind. Also happened to me with the rear suspension finishers.

I was looking at a Corbin Saddle after 500 miles yesterday. That’s far from the norm though. I mostly just ride to and from work and maybe a hundred miles on a Friday. I’m sure my desire stems solely from a pretty tough day in the saddle yesterday. But I like the look of this seat.

just got mine 2 days back, definitely more comfortable than the stock seat, the rider part of the seat looks exactly as shown on the RE website but the pillion seat cover is same as stock which is not what was shown on the website...would have been nice if it looked as shown on the website

I'm reminded of a line from The Young Ones; "This calls for a very special blend of extreme violence and applied psychology" Jokes aside, because of a great many things; you and your videos included, I've decided that when I get a bike it'll be a Royal Enfield twin, most probably a Continental GT. I prefer the outright looks of the Interceptor (especially the Orange Crush with chrome wheels..) but will probably prefer the style of riding the GT invokes.. One of these seats will definitely be ordered soon thereafter!!
Like all your Videos and information shared. I would like more of seeing you working on this Bikes and doing Mods and servicing. Rest I am enjoying riding my Interceptor 650 here in Mumbai, India. Also remember a advise given by you before buying the bike which help me take right decision. I was thinking of buying Triumph or Beneli.
I got the premium touring seat for my interceptor. It's a significant difference to standard seat. I'd say it's "spongier" than the standard, not "softer". Way, way more comfortable. Only thing to note is that it's slightly higher than the standard seat, so shorter riders who are already a bit intimidated by the height of the seat might find this makes it a bit worse.
Just ordered one, only problem is I haven't ordered my interceptor yet, as soon as I get back from holiday that's next on my to do list..... what a bargain....
Love the video as always. The seat and cowl look much better if you take the back handle bar off (only 4 bolts) unless you prefer it there for pillion? just makes it look so much sleeker. Isn't the premium Touring seat version 2 of the touring seat for the "new" 2021 GT's. like the Interceptors have their version 2 of their seats too?

Hey stew great vid as always. A bit off topic but when I bought my dr mayhem and brought it home the first time I gave it a wash I noticed a white cloudy almost water spot looking substance in a few places and it doesn't come off. Any good tips on some frame love aside from painting. Thanks
Great video stuart (as indeed all your videos are especially the ones about servicing the interceptor). U mentioned that this is basically non-slip but (I think) there was no comment about comfort other than some discussion about the "non-premium" touring seat. Does it mean the actual comfort when riding for the "premium" touring seat is same as the "non-premium" touring seat that u fitted to your interceptor in another video ? Thanks for the good work.

Now, of course, I am wondering how that cowl would look on the Interceptor :) I am noting that RE is really stepping up with aftermarket parts at very reasonable prices with highly competitive quality, making RE the first stop to check out desired modifications. A very clever strategy to keep getting their customers to come back for more.

How about the single seat? I'm thinking about buying one of them for my interceptor, it seems easier to swap the seats if you want to pick up someone than swapping this seat cover.
Great video once again mate. I don’t think you covered it as you wouldn’t of had the chance at the time of the video, but how does the new touring seat compare to the old one. I have a single seat which was already an upgrade comfort wise from stock seat, just wondering whether purchasing the latest premium single seat is worth the upgrade

I have the 2020 Mahem excellent Bike, The mods I’ve made so far include end bar mirrors S&S exhaust Proper seat cowl and a 150 rear tire , currently looking for the proper Cafe Faring , seems to be a hard item to find here in the states. Do you have any idea where I can get a Cafe Faring for my bike ? Thanks

I installed that seat and cowl combination on my 2020 Ventura Blue Continental GT 650 , but I removed the grab bar . I'm going to have a racing stripe painted on the cowl.

I was wondering how u rate this "premium touring" seat comfort to the standard seat (and if u can advise - how does it also compare to the standard touring seat for comfort). Thanks. @@earthworm7894 honestly I can't tell a whole lot of difference between the stock seat and the touring seat . From the beginning I have found the bike to be uncomfortable after 20 miles or so. I thought the touring seat would be a great improvement, but it wasn't. Still uncomfortable after 20 miles or so . I recently rode the Continental GT 650 about 150 miles on twisty mountain roads . And though it was really fun riding through the mountains, I had to take frequent comfort stops . But all that could just be age related . Regardless ,,beautiful bikes they are .

Just curious if your chrome Interceptor 650 tank rack would stick to the seat cowl here. Especially now that you installed the tank graphics. I have an extra smaller tank bag I sometime put on the rear of my seat to gain some extra storage for longer day trips. Contours may not be correct but just a thought.

I find the Deluxe Touring Seat to be a marked improvement over the stock. Now to find a way to improve the suspension.
Check out Uncle Stu's vids from 18 months or so ago about the YSS suspension upgrade (both front & rear) he did to his Interceptor. In his own words, "... it turned a good (handling) bike into a fantastic (handling) bike". I'm surprised he hasn't already given the Conti GT650 the same treatment (Time & £ I guess) .
I agree, touring seat is firmer than the original, which is far too soft, it is a tad lower and it looks fantastic. Suspension is where my INT 650 fails miserably. It's not compliant and is noisy, very uncomfortable indeed. I replaced shocks with the Tecbike ones (which have adjustable damping) and found them no better than the stock - maybe worse. I have the YSS fork upgrade kit waiting to be installed and a pair of ludicrously expensive Ohlins shocks on order. Hopefully these mods will make a terrific bike perfect.
hello sir, i already have an interceptor and the stock seat is too soft and so wide unlike the seat of GT and its not comfortable. can you suggest me if the GT seat is good when compared to the interceptor stock seat ? wil be happy for your suggestion.
