I've done over 9,000 klms on my GT Continental in Australia on some of the best riding roads anywhere! I think it's a great bike, good for everyday if you wish and fine for longer trips. I'm 6"2 and weigh 95kgs and have no problems with size or lack of power!
Hey Chris . Thank you . That’s reassuring that your stature feels comfortable on this bike . When I grew up in Mumbai , my friend had a RE 350 Bullet . And I used to think that was a “big” bike . Do I had a 125cc Yamaha Rx100 at that time . 1983 Fast forward... I am now in New York for last 26 years . I had. Yamaha R1 which I sold and few years ago got a Victory Vegas 8 ball , 1635cc . Over the years I started liking bigger and bigger bikes and started thinking that big bad-ass bikes are cool . Especially when I go to Daytona bike week and other bike events . But with the resurgence of this Royal Enfield bikes , though I had this desire , I had always thought it may be “ too small “ for me . It’s funny ... I am 6’ and only 156 Lb . Haha . Thanks for reassuring, I will go and test ride the new RE cafe racer in Ice-queen , and probably buy it this summer😊
I'm in love with my Conti GT650. Had no intention of getting another bike ( just turned 60) but knew about the RE reboot and liked the singles, always been a fan of 500 singles. Dropped in to have a casual look to kill some time, and a black and gold GT with single seat was on display. Love at first sight, exactly how I've aways tried to customise my bikes. That was friday, bought it on monday, unridden. I'd read all the reviews of better riders than I, no need to test. Fiddled with bar positions, whacked on a set of cheap emgo mufflers( re-baffled) bar ends, and it is simply the most satisfying and easy riding bike I've ridden. Underpowered? My last bike was an 84 air cooled ducati bevel desmo sport 900 and I believe this little sweetheart would win thru the winding hilly bits . Lovely machine😋
Steve lawson-blight that’s a great story! We certainly loved it, hope you have many amazing rides on it. Don’t forget to subscribe for more RE videos coming this year
Thanks for a great review. As a 57 year old returning rider after 30 years, I am so glad I recently gave in to my heart and got one. I got the black magic scheme - reminds me of the JPS F1 paint scheme of the early '70s. I love your comment out it being 'gentlemanly'. While I like the idea of being an outlaw biker, reality is a wee bit different ;)
You have taken the words out of my mouth. I have been riding for 40 years. And have a new GT 650 Royal Enfield. If anybody ride this fantastic bike. I’m sure you you will love it. And buy it. It’s just brilliant.
Very cool review, thank you! The Continental 650GT may be the bike I have been looking for for some years. I rode a K12S, V-Strom 1000, Z1000SE but none of these gave my real pleasure, pure fun while riding it.
Hey Rudolf, thanks for watching. Its a fantastic little bike but we recommend trying the range, which is quite extensive. Let us know how you get on :)
Got mine just this 2nd of July, 2020 - Covid-19 Pandemic period. It’s such a great bike. No frills. Just pure motorcycle. I used to ride back in late college years up to my pre-married life on a BMW R50 S. During this pandemic, I had a bit of time to contemplate on going back to riding and I’m glad I did. This bike has brought back the kind of excitement that I was missing. Thanks for the great review. Greetings from the Philippines.
Yep, totally agree too. I bought mine in July, a returnee to biking after a far too long absence and I love it. Have done from the first time I rode it. I recently also bought a Yamaha 900 GT Tracer and everyone has said “so you’ll not be riding the Conti anymore, then?” Absolutely not! They are two totally different bikes and for me it has just reinforced what a beautiful, back to basics, fun riding experience the Conti gives. So pleased I have one and will not be parting with it anytime soon. Great vid!

@@letsreviewit8925 Well I've watched the whole video and you definitely try to give the impression that Royal Enfield has been in Redditch continuously making bikes, and that's nowhere near correct. Also, the woman whose 'ass' appears to be getting attention from some comments here - first you say she's the photographer, and now she's your wife? Well, I hope she knows. Penelope Jacobs Lol, at 2:43 he clearly states it’s not a British brand anymore, but that there’s a design team in Redditch. He even goes on to say that the reason they can get the bikes so cheaply in the UK is due to the fact that they’re made in India. Beautiful Union of Classic British Design and Heritage and huge scale Indian precision Automobile manufacturing. This bike is poised to conquer the globe. And so is this wonderful review

Initially I was skeptical about it as I had quality and reliability issues with my other RE bike. hope the bike will deliver in the long term as it had done till date.
For me it was a choice between the Enfield or last of the air cooled Thruxtons. I went for the Thruxton but for all the same reasons you love the Enfield, no unnecessary gadgets or gimmicks, and plenty of customising potential. I'm 58 and this will be my last bike.
Enjoyed watching your review. Here in the States, Royal Enfield is not a well known brand, except within mc enthusiast circles. We are seeing some dealerships open up, and based on your review, I am looking forward to taking one out for a test ride. Thanks for the great review.
I lost my pop last summer. He had a BSA lightning he bought new and rode into the 1980s. I wish I'd had the chance to buy him a new Interceptor before he passed. He would have loved it.
Very few companies can maintain their Heritage and RE has maintained it beautifully and balanced it in this mordern era of motorcycling... Ride any RE model, This company makes true motorcycle ♥️RE
As far as "the place of manufacture," my supposedly "Japanese" Kawasaki was (very) well-built in Thailand. Here in the States, we still see Lee Enfield carbines, obviously of British design, but well-built in INDIA. They've even been imported to the States from India to be heavily-reconditioned and updated, with weather-resistant finishes, new barrels & stocks, and sold as VERY-robust, utilitarian long arms. I literally grew-UP using British Lee Enfield rifle AND Jungle Carbine variants, and I would not hesitate to use one of the Indian-produced versions. Their actions are lightning-fast, and virtually indestructible. Meanwhile, the TURKS have been building excellent German, Czech, American, Italian, and Belgian designs in THEIR plants, and they are excellent, as well. So-long as the manufacturing is proper, then there's a carry-through of the original DESIGN brilliance. This bike, with its BRITISH-designed engine, and its British Harris-designed frame, carefully-built, and beautifully-painted, along with the Interceptor, are FINALLY living-up to what they could be, ESPECIALLY at such a modest price. No, it's not some MV Agusta Superbike, but let's be honest: how many people ACTUALLY "need" to be exceeding the Speed of Sound, when not on a closed racing circuit? I'm just glad to see bikes like this "back," albeit with SOME modernized bits, like electric starting and fuel injection.
I'm curious about a few of your mods: 1) Why did you move down the top triple clamp to below the clip-on clamps? 2) Is the flap behind the front wheel a mudflap or a nail deflector? 3) Does the added center stand interfere with the pegs or does it need any alteration of the bike to fit? 4) Are the foot pegs with the pavement feelers stock parts? Have they felt the pavement without *you* feeling the pavement? :-)
Hi Dave, thanks for watching, the bar riser kit extends the top of the fork so it looks like the forks have been pushed up (but they haven't). Its an extended mud flap, the dealer fitted to prevent salt from getting all over the bike in winter. The centre stand doesn't require any modification to fit. I believe the foot peg are standard and I did manage to get enough lean angle to touch them down a few times but I didn't want to lean much further. I hope this helps. You can speak to the guys at Cooperb Motorcycles who are really knowledgeable about Royal Enfield bikes.
Only thing imho these need (as an old Matchless rider) is a set of Dunstall Decibel silencers . I've checked and repros are available for £66 each . Almost as good as reverse cone megas. Just hold on the the originals for the MOT lol
Actually they are owned by an Indian auto manufacturer and manufactured in India. Designed in England, supposedly by ex-Triumph employees. We just purchased one. The controls feel cheap- turn signals etc, but so far the bike is performing well. Beautiful to look at and good price point.
did i miss ,,whats the diff between the continental gt and other R.E. 650? does it come with better ?? I would like to see a black one flat bars trumpet pipes nick blinkers for something less obtrusive,, tidy up the look.
The other re 650 or the Interceptor has less sportier stance and riding position than continental gt650. Gt is more leaned into and more connected feeling. Where int660 is more upright (sportishly upright) and is made for longer rides without putting strain on shoulders and wrist. Gt650 has a better front end feel at high speed where the Interceptor can feel bit light at front on higher speeds. Interceptor is more easy to live with in heavy traffic conditions. Rear suspension settings on gt and int are also bit different , int 650 runs on softer settings out if the factory where as gt runs on more stiffer settings. Rest all is same.
@@ijs_automotive thanks.. be great to see one shiny jet black drop bars minimal chrome some kind of trumpet carb loud pipes.. lol i wonder at.47?.h.p. how much.one could "reliably" get. Have you seen any set up like an old school thumper ? I remember some old B.S.A. Tricked that were much.faster than stock some even shaking the doors of cars next to them. They were awesome.
@@scottygdaman not seen anything like you have described. But yes people are using free flow exhaust, performance filters and piggy back ecu like power commander. But not much performance gain on the Dyno
@@ijs_automotive one of my favorite bikes .. I've had a few was the old yamaha 650 twin special. Fun reliable good looking. So soft spot for this kind of bike. The B.S.A guys would bore stroke the motors cut gears quite a bit more than filters .. big old kuni carbs sticking out. Ride safe
Michael Maxwell thanks for watching it was an aftermarket mud flap as the bike was a demonstrator they didn’t want salt getting on the chrome. Don’t forget to subscribe 😬
Not sure if it was the bike colour or the narative but the bike sure looks much more desirable seeing you riding it with the narative in the back. Couldn't afford one right now but hell yea I'm getting one soon!!
I've had this bike for 6 months or so and loving every minute. Can I ask if you can provide some detail of the bar raiser arrangement? I haven't seen it here in Australia.
Tony Harding it’s a great bike we really love it. The risers have been custom made by the company that loaned us the bike. If you send us your email address via the website we can get them to contact you? Www.letsreviewit.co.uk they make such a difference on your wrists highly recommended
There was a time in India this bike used to survive on police and army orders. Their new turnaround started in mid 2000s. In 10-15 years this bike is on world map.
royal enfield has new r&d centre in leicestershire, RE also acquired a design company based in England...The ownership may have changed but the brand has stayed true to its heritage.
Recently I did a car journey here in cumbria not in heavy traffic my average speed over 190 miles was 39.07 so why the do need all the tec and power and silly cost on bikes😕😕.... then along came himalayan (which ive purchased) and interceptor /continenal problem solved. ..mebz cheered from dave
Does anyone have helpful links for the bar-risers, the crash bars, or any other bits you think would be beneficial on this GT? Obviously, the gaters and the single seat would be available from Royal Enfield.
Did you have the clipons raised? they look a bit higher than stock. it may be the camera angle though. How does it ride over bumpy tarmac? Some reviewers noticed that the front end is a bit twitchy above 120km/h.
Contact Cooperb Motorcycles it is mentioned in the vid. The standard suspension isn’t great when pushing on they do bottom out but there are some aftermarket solutions for this.
It’s the price which makes all the difference. In fact it’s the cheapest 650 twin cylinder bike and also the cheapest to maintain! The other day in another comment I literally converted the cost from Indian Rupees to Pound and it came to around £38 for my first and second service! Now, it can’t get any cheaper than that for 10,000 kms!
Lets Review It Been riding Royal Enfield since the last decade and a half and had Classic 500, Standard 500 and the Thunderbird (in fact we are a family of biking enthusiasts) and all of them were robust and cheap to maintain! But this 650 twins has taken the game to another level. True we lost the thump of the old single cylinder overhead cams, but got the grunts and burbles of the dual cylinder. And then again, I did around 350000 kilometres in my lifetime, been to 40 feet below sea level to 18,000 feet, with the heaviest rainfall in the world, cold temperatures, highest motorable way, Highways to rocky trails, THE ROYAL ENFIELD HAS NEVER LET ME DOWN! We have the largest brotherhood of RE owners here in India 🇮🇳 just for that reason... 😊
biking need to go backwards to go forwards..... the modern 200bhp sportbike has put itself outside the affordability of pretty much everyone.. my next door neighbour got brand new 2020 gsxr 1000, 200bhp with different traction/power modes etc... im wondering where the fuck is he going to ride that in kent with roads filled with text drivers... its not all about top speed.. these royal enfields look great but id like 70bhp standard.....
Wow, really classy. Loving the vintage look to go with the bike as well. Out of interest how would a more tradition, retro feeling bike like this measure up to something more modern. There are electric bikes out there now, how would this compare? I've not really heard a lot about the performance of electric bikes but with the way more and more vehicles are heading that way I would be interested in seeing a review for one.
I was hoping someone had gone through the process already and have some recommendations. It’s just there are sooo many cool parts that fit on triumphs that could look great on RE.

Excellently put together video and great review. Many thanks, these are great bikes! Just a correction RE UK is in Lutterworth not Redditch
A huge thumbs up man! 👍

@@letsreviewit8925 That's the😄 first thing I did!
Absolutely!
I'm curious about a few of your mods:
1) Why did you move down the top triple clamp to below the clip-on clamps?
Great video, Where's the chick? haha Just kidding. Amazing content

When people use clickbait I don't subscribe or like the video.

Aayush Dua , what?
No you are not kidding
Only thing imho these need (as an old Matchless rider) is a set of Dunstall Decibel silencers .
I've checked and repros are available for £66 each .
Almost as good as reverse cone megas.
Just hold on the the originals for the MOT lol
The bike doesnt sound too bad for standard but agree - i'd look at some V&H maybe
Actually they are owned by an Indian auto manufacturer and manufactured in India. Designed in England, supposedly by ex-Triumph employees. We just purchased one. The controls feel cheap- turn signals etc, but so far the bike is performing well. Beautiful to look at and good price point.
Josh Lloyd thanks for watching
did i miss ,,whats the diff between the continental gt and other R.E. 650? does it come with better ??
Ride safe
What’s flapping around near the right-hand foot peg at 2:16? Liked the drone shot....you should do more of that. Nice vid.
Michael Maxwell thanks for watching it was an aftermarket mud flap as the bike was a demonstrator they didn’t want salt getting on the chrome. Don’t forget to subscribe 😬
great video bro
keep doing whAT YOU ARE GOOD AT

Best review ever
Not sure if it was the bike colour or the narative but the bike sure looks much more desirable seeing you riding it with the narative in the back. Couldn't afford one right now but hell yea I'm getting one soon!!

@@letsreviewit8925 already, great ride ahead mate!!
@@letsreviewit8925 Many thanks👍
If only they made it more economical in Australia
Can you share the link to buy the bar raiser also an installation video would be great 👍
Yes please!!!
Crisp review. Tnx!
Thanks so much for your comment - thanks for watching :)
Beautiful bike 😍
Man where's the chick from the thumbnail?
There was a time in India this bike used to survive on police and army orders.
Their new turnaround started in mid 2000s. In 10-15 years this bike is on world map.
if u ask me i more like the Interceptor as i m a proud owner of an Interceptor great bike & yup RE is an Indian brand
Sourav Acharya thanks for watching
gt is much more fun to ride more feelings due to the riding position
@@xfactor5326 its painful to me wrist & spine not for traffic
Superb review, gonna try one!
Thanks for watching Steve it’s a great little machine! Enjoy!
Thank you.
royal enfield has new r&d centre in leicestershire, RE also acquired a design company based in England...The ownership may have changed but the brand has stayed true to its heritage.
It does have a fork mod with the clip ons moved above the stancions. Talk to us about that.
Great video and spot on review. Would be interested to hear more of your thoughts of the Interceptor too.
Thanks for the support Phil, we're hoping to get a chance to ride the Interceptor soon, make sure you subscribe so you don't miss it :)
I feel cheated, where's that hot chick man? Btw lovely review of this iconic bike😍

Lets Review It already did my good sir.

Royal always royal.
Nice you raised the bars
Does anyone have helpful links for the bar-risers, the crash bars, or any other bits you think would be beneficial on this GT? Obviously, the gaters and the single seat would be available from Royal Enfield.
Did you have the clipons raised? they look a bit higher than stock. it may be the camera angle though. How does it ride over bumpy tarmac? Some reviewers noticed that the front end is a bit twitchy above 120km/h.
Where did you get the risers from?
Contact Cooperb Motorcycles it is mentioned in the vid. The standard suspension isn’t great when pushing on they do bottom out but there are some aftermarket solutions for this.
@@letsreviewit8925 thank you.
Where did you get the bar risers please? And how are they working so far?
Are those bar risers or did you just swap places to put the bars on top of that black plate?
They’re specially made bar risers very well made contact Cooperb Motorcycles and tell them we sent you 😀
Where did you get the risers or are the the stock clip ons, but moved up?
Speak to Ian @ cooperb motorcycles tell him Ben sent you :)
Remove that big floppy rubber mud guard from the front fender!
Strideo1 haha it was a Dealer fit item to stop salt spraying on metalwork
It’s the price which makes all the difference. In fact it’s the cheapest 650 twin cylinder bike and also the cheapest to maintain! The other day in another comment I literally converted the cost from Indian Rupees to Pound and it came to around £38 for my first and second service! Now, it can’t get any cheaper than that for 10,000 kms!
And it’s a great bike to ride 😆
Would any aftermarket parts, originally made for triumph bonneville t100, fit this bike?
Good question it’s possible they’re quite compatible but I’m not sure anyone could answer that without physically offering the parts up
I was hoping someone had gone through the process already and have some recommendations. It’s just there are sooo many cool parts that fit on triumphs that could look great on RE.
Great review

Hi, am tamil speeking Indian from Chennai. One of the best reviews ever congrats and thanks. I need someone clarity on the handlebar raises. I mean the exact name of the spare. Would be helpful if you gide me please 🙏.. this is the exact thing i was looking for...
Call Cooperb Motorcycles in Northamptonshire they make them
Thank you so much 🙏🥰
Hi, I like the front fender modification.
Full English? Where’s your beans and tomatoes! Looks like a Half English.
Haha it was a half assed breakfast 😭
Strangely appropriate.
Is this bike euro 4 or euro 5 compliant? Is it worth waiting for the euro 5 stuff to kick in at the start of the new year?
UKShooting it’s euro 4 unless your commuting into an ULEZ I wouldn’t worry as the emissions come down the bikes loose torque and get quieter, I’d make the most of it while you can
Just wait for Brexit... joking!
Great dealer!
The General agreed good guys there
I own Royal Enfield here in india I am waiting for cruiser version of 650 cc Royal Enfield. it's under trials on Indian roads .
Good review.

I wanted one but can’t wear an open face helmet. There’s a road by me that every time I ride down I get hit in the face by 37,000 midges...
Bar risers? I want to lower the clip ons on mine, but it seems to run into some little pin that prevents me. Shame.
Hi Jane you can purchase aftermarket low bars I believe?
