Hickok45 videos are filmed on my own private shooting range and property by trained professionals for educational and entertainment purposes only, with emphasis on firearms safety and responsible gun ownership. We are NOT in the business of selling firearms or performing modifications on them. Do not attempt to copy at home anything you see in our videos. Firearms can be extremely dangerous if not used safely.
It's a museum piece and it went to the perfect place to be show cased. Thanks to the donor and Hickok for displaying it.
I hate to say this but few would respect / appreciate this as much as Hickok does. No question that it ended up in the perfect hands.
I have THE Krag carbine that my grandfather was issued in WW1. (Along with associated documentation!)
It was left to me because I'm the only one of 4 grandkids that would NEVER consider selling it.
I'm amazed over how many have asked "what I could get for it."
@@bendover4154 For sure you could get a broken heart if you sold it.
@@Quakeboy02 Pretty sure my grandfather would return from the dead to kick my butt too.
Museums don't respect things like we do personally. I've seen many things donated to Museums end up derelict.
@@bendover4154 Good, as it should be
There is no greater honour than having your gift accepted. You did right by him and his father.
So true. I once had a young man give me an 1866 Allin Model 2 Springfield Trapdoor 50/70......he said, "because no one could pay me more for it than I know you would appreciate it". Amazing how generous people can be. I believe I know how Hickok felt.
Amen! the Son was honoring the Father, and Dad loved Hickok! the circle is complete. I gave Dad's catfishing pole to his catfishing buddy!
Gift days are stupid, random gift days are heartfelt.
You honor the giver by accepting the gift. 😊
You honour the gift by accepting the giver" - Sun Tzu (c)
My father once told me that if I was ever in this situation, “ accept it in the manner and spirit that it was given” I have added “ watch for opportunities to pay it forward”.
Can't be appreciative enough of having fathers like that.
Gifting the gun and accepting it was an act of mutual respect. Kudos to both of you.
Hickok45 Museum: The only online museum where the relics are actually used and enjoyed. ❤
Tim & his Father are definitely a class act
Those are the people that make any society a better place to live.
My dad had one in 38-40 caliber. He died from dementia in 2020.
That sucks brother
Cherish it man, take care of it, i own 2 of my ole man guns, a marlin 60 and a browning gold, best gun ever imo
My dad passed when I was 11 none of his guns survived my mom who absolutely hated guns but I would give anything to have a single gun from him.
A difficult relentless disease. My condolences.
@@docE3885I tracked down my dad’s old 22 single shot and bought it back.. I was sold to a person my mom knew and they gave it to another person which was the person I got it from. I thought I’d never find it but it only took 3 days to track down.
What a beautiful firearm! Thank you to the donor and you for the opportunity to observe this treasure!
My mom always said that when someone wants to give you a gift always accept it graciously because you never want to take their joy away. If you ever felt a desire to give someone something and they showed true appreciation there is joy you experience that you can't get any other way. It would be wrong to rob some kind soul of that joy. It truly is better to give than to receive.
Excellent point. Don't steal the joy of the giver. Especially in a scenario like this one w Hickok. The giver didn't just do it nonchalantly, it had purpose.
Thank you for showing a historical arm. A beautiful gift. I enjoy your shows. Thanks
I appreciate the respect you show all of your viewers, the living and those that have passed. Bless you Sir.
Couldn't have been gifted to a more appreciative person than you. Sorry for the loss of that gentlemans father. Thanks for the video.
A kind gift and a real treasure. He'll remember his dad every time you shoot it.
It's touching to see you choked up about this gift. God bless the young man 🙏🏼, you and family as well.
...if that rifle could talk! Imagine the history it would tell us! Battles, hunts, travels, generations of owners...that rifle is a piece of history!
GOD BLESS THE MAN that made a gift to you of his fathers rifles. You sir are VERY DESERVING and although you tried to cover with a few (bad) jokes, viewers could see that you were touched by the gift. THANK YOU for what you do! In these times you are a great teacher and steward of tools/weapons,,,, and a GREAT AMERICAN, as well.GOD BLESS YOU and yours Hickok45.
A great way to honor his father.
You know you're loved when..........I am sure it'll be well cherished and honored . Love it.
You are beloved by your viewers!
What a beautiful and heartfelt gift!
Accepting the gift, showing it and telling the story behind, It's a good way to honor the memory of the dad and also the donor.
My first deer was with a 44-40. Winchester Octagon barrel saddle rifle. Have no idea of the age but all the grand kids used Pap's rifle to start out.
Hell yes
You have to accept a gift of that type. It's in remembrance of his father. That man would have been deeply hurt if you had refused because he was doing what he believed his father would have wanted. It's really quite heartwarming and It obviously touched your heart.
Wow! What a wonderful gift to you Hickok 45. Of course you couldn't turn it down. Please share it often. Your work is more deeply appreciated than you know. Be humbly proud.
It's great seeing that there are examples of awesome people still around.
I was gifted my grandfathers 1873 Winchester. I was thrilled beyond words, and cherish it above all my other possessions. Im glad this one found a good home.
An amazing firearm so glad the gentleman was so very kind to give you this American treasure
Incredible gift
What a sweet way to respect the givers dad. And what a precious gift.
What an AWESOME gift! Couldn't go to a more deserving individual! Congrats HICKOK!!
I remember a special gift a elderly woman gave me many years ago, she was in a nursing home. the gift was half a candy bar but she had nothing much and I couldn't dare accept it, but the lord spoke with to my heart telling me, don't you dare rob her of her blessing. I rejoiced over that small gift more than if it was a million dollars. papa wishing you well 😊
It’s that dirty four letter word my Grandmother always told me about, LIFE. You are honoring both gentlemen !!! Thank you for sharing it !!!
Again, Mr 45 has shown us the personification of "awesome". Thank you sir.
I’m so happy that you accepted that gift. What a wonderful gesture the son made in giving you one of his father’s rifles. That’s enough to keep one’s faith in the human race alive and well. You are a very special person to a great many people who have all left much more eloquent and articulate comments than mine. You are a deserving person, and I don’t doubt that you have made many a generous contribution in your time. You make people feel like you’re talking to them in a friendly manner. You’re the Real McCoy.🙏🏻
WOW. When I've been given things like this in similar circumstances, I always tell the person I consider it's an honor to be trusted with such a personal item, and that I will take supreme care of it until such time they'd like me to send it back to them. BRAVO, Kickok45.
Such a wonderful gift and you are very deserving of it! Of course you eventually will pass that rifle on to future generations to keep the legacy going. I hope we see it in action at some point (I imagine it might need some tuning up first).
Us kids back in the day... figuring it out
What a wonderful gift and an honor. RIP fellow. Hickok45 take care.
I can see why the gentleman wanted you to have that rifle… your videos provided bonding time for father and son and I can hear the humility in your voice!! I’m sure they knew the Winchester would go to someone who would appreciate it and honor the memory of the donor. Speaking of honor… the son Tim displayed that by contacting you about his father’s wishes rather than keeping the rifle for himself!!! So the rifle passes from one classy family to another! You deserve it sir!!! Thanks for sharing!! The Old Army Scout…
Fell in love with lever actions as a kid when my brother and I saw the Movie "Winchester 73". First two rifles I ever bought. were a Marlin Mountie and a Marling 336 in 35 Remington. This show is refreshing to watch because it's about the sheer joy of shooting and reviewing quality firearms. Keep on keeping on.
Lever action is like a pump action, and they're like standard transmissions. It has a "man and machine" feeling to it. Fittingly, the alternatives are both called automatics, and you lose that special feeling.
Wow! That's amazing. It really shows how much folks appreciate your work.
What a precious gift... I know you will treasure it always....
It went to the right person! He knew you would do just what you are doing Hickok 45! 💪🇺🇸
Great people still exist in the world today, paying it forward 👍
So many people let social media divide us. This is proof that it does not have to be that way. I did not open YT tonight expecting a heartwarming story. Thank you both, you Mr. Hickok and to the person that gifted it.
Lovely words to recount the offer and the acceptance.
Wow! What a gift from a fan - who gives up an original 1873 Winchester? Congratulations hickok45. Rod M.
Well he made the right decision because if anyone he definitely deserves it .
That rifle is an absolute TREASURE and a dream gun of mine. Clearly, the family who gave it to you knew you would share its history and care for it in a manner his dad would have been very happy with. So awesome.
cant afford to lose subscribers that way, HAHAHAHA thats the funniest line hickok ever threw out there
It’s a beautiful rile with a lot of history ❤❤
What an honor, sir. You are a gracious, humble, deserving receiver of a beautiful piece of history. I can vouch for that,as I got the opportunity to meet you in Dallas in 2018 at the N.R.A. conversation. You're a GOOD MAN!
How cool is that! Congratulations all.
Hickok you are a great man. Tim picked the perfect person to cherish that rifle
I understand. A friend of mine over the years dropped off several firearms to my house that he wanted me to go shoot and enjoy. We enjoyed our range time together, and we often drooled over each others "toys" if you will. He just recently died, I tried to return his firearms to his family and they all said no, those are yours. He wanted you to have them. My collection is nowhere near what yours is but it still means a lot to me when I think about the good times we've had with good friends and these firearms. Some of them should be in a museum so they are proudly displayed in sealed glass cases in our home. I still miss my old 44-40 Marlin...
It was very honorable of you to accept the heartfelt gift and present it the way you did. Glad it was a win-win for you and the generous viewer!
Much respect to the gifting family🙏🙏...y'all couldn't have chose a better destination for this stunningly beautiful American rifle!
You sir are a complete gentleman…… who better than you to honor it 💪🏻👊🏻🇺🇸
I collect all types of time blessed items. Nothing is out of the conversation. I see it as as long as its with me it's safe. Thats the mentality old things need to get older. One lifetime at a time. Great honor to be a part of.
This goes to show how many people you have touched over the years. You received much more than a gun, you are carrying on a legacy of knowledge that many Americans take for granted or do not understand.
Beautiful rifle, and such a cool thing for the son to do. His father is smiling on him and on you.
Absolutely was honoring his father by gifting you this almost priceless firearm
God bless Tim and his family and his dad. RIP.
I don't have a priceless gift. Can I send you a fan? Ah, no not a person. Just like... a fan.
You know, those things we cherished before we had air conditioning?
what a beautiful sentiment, and gift !
They don’t make-em like that anymore. You done good by accepting the gift. And thanks to the donators.
I love your channel because you're REAL! ...Authentic!....No BS!..People everywhere appreciate your programs...I for one truly appreciate you Sir...God Bless and Keep on posting....
Do you and John know why you have "the" fan base that you do? You are truly respectful Men! You become family to others from the respect you give but also share. Sharing respect is teaching how it is given and how it is earned. You have the grasp of a master Sir. Thank You again for giving me a great day!
Firearms are beautiful to me. I enjoy and marvel at well designed “machines” like engines, metalworking machinery of all kinds and firearms are just a subset of this appreciation. I am keenly aware how they have been used to help support freedom all over the world for many many decades. They are a great equalizer where the weak and fairer gender can protect themselves against the miscreants our society produces. And they’re just a whole heck of a lot of fun to shoot,. What a touching tribute to this gentleman’s father. It shows also how much we care about you as well.
What an honor to receive a classic gun. Accepting it was the right thing to do.
You are so personable, you feel like family. May we have many more years with you.
A lot of people cherish you and realize you and your son are good people. It made them feel good knowing good folks like you have it and will do right by it. Good on everyone.
👍👍💯🇺🇸
It’s an awesome gift and so happy you shared it with us.
A beautiful gesture…glad you accepted the gift!
RIP to Tim’s father, glad he was able to gift the gun to someone who would really appreciate and honor it, I’m sure his father would be elated to see it in your hands.
From a old gun guy,,seeing an hearing this story made my day. Could not be in better hands and the Man who gave it to you ,MUST BE A GREAT FATHER/SON GUN TEAM!
Tears in my eyes to you could tell he was choked up to ❤
It found a perfect home. This story brought a tear to my eye, must have been an incredible man. Rest in peace
Wow I'm speechless as you are telling us how you received such a beautiful gift from this family a tear ran down my face it just shows me how much this man really idolized you and how much you meant to him and what a wonderful son going out of his way to make sure his Dad's last wishes had been forfilled, God bless you and the family who unselfishly provided you with such an honor
Tim sorry for your loss. God’s blessings to you and your family.
So very cool. Thanks for sharing both you and the family that donated it.
Excellent sentiment for the gift. Awesome they decided to let it live on in your possession.
What a generous gift!!! A fine, empathetic gentleman, what a way to honor his father’s legacy 👍👍
You’ve touched a lot of people’s lives Mr Hickok, I’ve learned more from your videos than any book or other you tube channel. You’re a gifted teacher and story teller that has taken me down a journey of appreciation and knowledge of firearms that I would have never traveled. That rifle is a representation of a bond you created between a father and son that they wanted to give back to you. Great story.
This is the most amazing and heartfelt video on TH-cam in 2024.
Beautiful piece of machinery.
Very touching gesture.
And the most humble reaction a man can give.
THANK YOU viewer, I believe we all know why this viewer did this.
When I was a lad growing up in southern Iowa I loved to hunt. Remember a older gentleman showing us his old Winchester 30/30 wow I thought I’m going to get one of those. Well life happens. I’m 63 walk into a local pawn shop. 1947 Winchester 30/30 it’s a nice one. Had just come out of pawn. They told me I was the first one to take a peek at it. Some things just take time.
A kingly gift and well deserved . Thanks for the years of entertainment and education. May the man rest in peace .
That's a beautiful gift. I wonder if factory records could show a bit of history on it. My thanks to the man and his son who were instrumental in getting it to you.
Shot two doe with it! 14 Years old back then. Thankyou for this.
This brings up a very important subject for me. My father handed down his guns, namely his SO S&W57 and a 1873 38-40 because all the rest of the family just wanted to sell them off for the money. My son would trash or loose them and have no other family that would cherish them like I do. I applaud their choice, Well Done!!
LOL Beautiful piece of history.
It's a humble man who does so much good, just to do it, just because he can, and doesn't see the need to be thanked for the good he's done.
Very touching gift.
What an incredible gift! He and his father enjoyed your show together and this priceless gift honors his father. Enjoy!
The thing i've always loved about this channel is that it's family friendly. The whole family can watch it. My son started watching when he was 8 and never had to worry about content.
This person knew that you would take great care of this classic rifle and thanks to him for keeping in alive on your show.
I know it would take away from the rifles historic value and the character it has acquired over the years, but can you imagine how beautiful that rifle would look if completely tore apart, cleaned, reblued , and all the wood refinished ? It would look magnificent........hopefully even better than the day it came off the factory floor.
No. True history should not be tampered with.
That rifle has earned the right to look like it does, and it looks GREAT to me.
At least it was donated and not sold to a random store/dealer (to make a few bucks only to have the gun sold/marked up 5x the amount they paid the owner for it.
Very true but with what the ATF is doing on guns being given to people & trying to make it mandatory to do a FFL on it and do the background check we better hope they don't see this & what else he was saying because they will go after him next because of this corrupt administration we have now .
I have my dad's and grandfather's guns. I don't shoot them much, but cherish them.
As someone who has a lot of old arms passed down from my father, this hits me pretty hard. My dad's been affected by a neurological disorder, so while I've had to come to grips with possibly losing him several times, I always know that I'll be able to relive and share the moments with him by shooting the guns that we shot together.
There's something extremely unique and sentimental about a good gun shared between father and son. I'm sure it's an indescribable honor to have one given to you, as well as to the donor to have it showcased to so many others. Seems like a good trade.
I understand why. Hickok 45 has had an exceptionally positive experience in my life. What I wouldn't give to thank him.
