As a former emergency dispatcher, the fireman with the canine expressing how he felt about his last rescued persons face, made me choke up. Bravo to the incredible people of Mexico City in their rubble bucket brigades, the bikers delivering supplies etc, it was a beautiful thing to see from beautiful people.❤ Mexico 🇲🇽

I was in the 8.1 earthquake. We were hit very hard with the shaking in Guatemlaa. Luckily, this one happened off the coast. Any closer and I would not be here. My house shook for 3 minutes. I remenber thinking, "I am feeling people die right now."

My mom was in that earthquake. My sister and I were going to Mexico city because we hadn't heard from relatives. There was no way we were going to obey the Mexican and the U S A governments when it comes to our mom. We had to contact the Mexican Customs at the Airport and they contacted my cousin who worked with the agency and was on duty. He contacted our uncle and found all relatives were OK as well as my Mom. With that in mind, we banished the thought of going there. My moms sister contacted Tamalpais Governor to contact the U S Embassy to get my mom out of Mexico. We had my mom home safe and sound in Port Isabel Texas. It was horrible and the millions of monies donated to Mexican President did not use to help their citizens in Mexico city. The rich got assistance right away but the inner city poor lived in cardboard housing without the important necessities. Such a shameful action to where I dont care for MEXICO.😢❤😢

Please accept my condolences for your loss, it may have been many years ago but the hole left in one's heart never heals, lost my younger sister in 1980, still as painful in 2024 as it was then.
At the time of that quake, I was working in Hawaii with a lady who was from MC. She frantically tried to get information for almost a week. Thankfully, most of her family was okay, not all though.

The same thing happens in the US. The fact that there are so many homeless people anywhere in the world is appalling. Especially when people cannot make a liveable wage. It shouldn't matter if you are a CEO of a huge conglomeration or a street sweeper. I'm not endorsing communism, but I do believe in socialism where everyone's basic needs are met no matter their abilities.
Can you imagine a world where everyone has enough to eat, and a place to live. Set a timer where you can take 5 uninterrupted minutes, and imagine what our world could be like. After you've done that, take a good hard look at how it really is. If you are not appalled, you should be.

Yes, but try to have compassion for those who can’t leave and have to live with that corruption and poor decision making; it’s not their fault. And if nobody helped them, they would be well and truly f… well, I won’t say it but you can guess it.
My ex was originally from a poor country where natural disasters occur from time to time and she has to live with the same fears concerning her relatives, but she’s an old Catholic girl and she focuses her anger into prayer instead. That’s not for everyone of course. But try to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes.
Also, remember; you said that some of the officials there helped you to find your mum and your relatives and helped you to get out safely. That must mean that some of those who helped you who were working for the Mexican government must have been honest, caring , helpful and genuine people. Not everyone is on the take. I hope you enjoy your Sunday. Love ❤️ from the UK. 🇬🇧

I was staying in Mexico City in 2003 & was surprised to see a line of open spaces where destruction had occurred back in 1985. Also one multistorey hi-rise cordoned off and badly cracked but still standing. Love that city but always feel a little nervous about the earthquakes. 🇦🇺🦘

Every earthquake behaves differently, on equations, Force equations differs every earthquake, another words , side to side , Force to F/E with up and down Force to F/E to Force behaves differently. So if meter to read the measurement is side to side equations, it could be incorrect reading , so if side to side reads = 4. In actuality it could be S= 4. up = 6. There must be 8 point reading in design to get proper scientific earth quake readings . So scientific reading should contain : s1 fe / f = ? : s2 fe / f = ? : s3 fe / f = ? : Dh 1 fe / f = ? Dh 2 fe /f = ? : Dh3 fe / f = ? : Dh 4 fe/ f= ? So proper scientific earth quake readings should contain all the answered to questions. So depending on how earthquake is measured by reading meters , could be wrong readings . This scientific reading can saves lives far away over 1000 miles . Why ? Pressure by force to create volcano eruptions to evacuate people or calculate probability .

I remember the issue of wastewater injection being highlighted in 1975 when 2 injection wells for sewage were identified as the trigger of earthquakes in the US Midwest. They were later used briefly for disposal of wastewater from fracking, but greatly increased the incidence of earthquakes, so they were abandoned and capped. There are wastewater wells in areas that do not show increased incidence of quakes, but such wells are so deep that it is difficult or impossible to detect faults prior to drilling.

      Earthquakes are as normal.
But the climate stuff...the increased flooding, stronger and more frequent hurricanes/typhoons, worse and increased droughts, worse and increased fires, increased tornados east of the Mississippi...that's our fault. That's climate change. And it is going to get significantly worse soon.

So these seismic sensors will "give the city about 1 minute warning before it begins to shake". Wow... one whole minute. So when they get that ONE minute warning, how long does it take someone to react to that THAT sensor warning, and then push a button or whatever to activate the city's warning sirens? Let's say...10-15 seconds. So now the people IN the city have about 45 seconds for THEIR reaction to hearing the sirens. Another 10-15 seconds (if not longer, for their brains to process what the siren is, and what they should do about it). So basically, folks have about 30 seconds to .... do what? Jump into a doorway? Hide under a desk? Run out into the street? Most people won't even know what to do, even if they had 5 minutes warning.
