  • Mother Nature is more powerful than any man made action, and everyday she puts us to the test. Filmmaker and adventurer Chris is fascinated by extreme natural disasters, and chooses to chase them head on in solo filming expeditions. In this compilation he comes face to face chasing some of the most vicious and unforgiving of storms- from hurricanes to tornadoes and firestorms.
    Hurricane - 00:00-45:31
    Tornado - 45:32- 1:32:02
    Firestorm - 1:32:03-2:17:19

    I went to Big Sur in 2008 to fight the wildfires and it was the best learning opportunity, both professionally and personally! I had a prison crew right by our camp and they were the best guys, truly amazing men that really did make a difference. The locals were amazing and so supportive as well. I’ll never forget that time or everyone I met and I’m so grateful for the opportunity.

    I can only speak to tornados - grew up in Tx but remember my first F1 at 5 yrs old, saw one form on the road at 33, chased by an F1 on the road at night at 37. We are so used to it we are trained to hunker down during a watch/warning or esp sirens. Its also exciting so we get distracted by that. It doesnt make sense though how few ppl here have storm shelters. Theyre pretty common though up in OK. Id like to see cities have huge storm shelters and it should be required in new homes. We get used to it…but we forget about F5s and the chance of surviving those…I helped clean up in Moore OK after an F5 and it was very eye opening…so was my close encounter on the road and I take warnings very differently now.

    • @AJ1987LV
      @AJ1987LV 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I read one comment on FB in Tornado related group, and that person was like, I don't pay attention to warning sirens, they are so often, so unless I actually see tornado, I ain't doing anything. And I thought - gee, lady, by the time you see the tornado, it will be too late and it might be last thing you see. As for Moore, after it got hit in May 3rd, 1999, I was surprised that they still did not had storm shelters in public places, especially in schools. Only after May 20th, 2013 they began to do something about it. Like, seriously, schools and hospitals are the priority places where storm shelter should be mandatory, whether government have funding for that or not. It's something that should have funding for in first place. Sadly they had to be hit twice for things to change.

    First question as a European who doesn't have to deal with big tornados or hurricanes... Why tf you place your house in the tornado alley, literally the whole world know that every year at this particular place you can experience tornados... And still people living there, is there nowhere else to go?

    • @AnimeLover4Life3395
      @AnimeLover4Life3395 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nowhere else to go, a lot of tornado alley is poverty stricken, many people have been there for generations, some people like the risk, some people take it as it is and still love their home enough to take the risk

      Well to be quite frank, that's our bread basket. That's where the main crops of wheat, soy, corn, etc seeds /grains & more are grown there bc it's prime fertile ground. That's why it was settled and why generations have stayed. It's dangerous in one way or another anywhere you live. Some more extreme than others. I live in Washington state where we have a lot of fruits, veg, pumpkins/gourds etc but that’s bc of the fertile soil due to our volcanoes…earthquakes are a consequence of that. 🤷‍♀️ our crops have been the source of a lot of homing in dangerous areas. The crops & where they grow best have made huge impact on settlements in the US.

      @@AnimeLover4Life3395you really are right about poverty though in the sense of the people not in agriculture. It’s quite sad. Pay is awful there and even though living costs are cheap, it prevents people from being able to move to a more expensive but safer location
