Many of the buildings in Florida are built on reclaimed land, land that was once a body of water or swamp. They fill it with dirt and build on top, what could go wrong?

To add another problem to the equation, in Florida, we have " Big Sugar" issues. They're seemingly untouchable. The runoff of the pesticides looks like black death, as it enters our waterways. Big Sugar refused to take accountability for the damages they are a major part of causing, such as Red Tide. Big Sugar likes to finger point, instead... "land development". Civial engineers wanted to make improvements to better waterway flow. Big Sugar said "No", and threatened with huge lawsuits. Lake Okachobee has already reached its peak of suffering from Big Sugar runoff. I'm beginning to feel like, after 54 years of being a Florida resident, the only fresh water that we can truly rely on will come from sink holes.

The county filled in the hole and placed a playground on it, I’ve never seen a child out there. Sink holes in that part of Florida re very cooked the phosphate mines have been dogging the earth for about a hundred years. Nearly every home in Mulberry has cracks. While the field merely “inconvenient” due to the risk of turning ankles…the tennis court was terrible on which the team practiced and tournaments were played!
I recall talk of other school district teams noting the wavy, potholed patched pavement!

Well, I can't imagine anyone voluntarily moving to Florda, but if you do, I'd avoid lake front property. Thanks to the guy who mentioed no animals were hurt. Nobody thinks to mention that. I live alone on the 5th floor with 2 belovéd companions. The tornado alarm went off a few months ago. I put Pasha cat in his case abd just called McBride the dog who will stand with me anywhere. I am mobility impaired, but the three of us headed down an inside staircase that I knew would provide some shelter. On the first floor I listened for the tornado (I 've been near one before ) If I had heard it me and mine would have run back to the staircase. The next day we learned it had touched down in a small town 10 miles away.

This problem is that water- lifeblood of the Earth, is leaving the ground. One of the biggest offenders is Nestle. If they're not directly pumping it out of the ground, they're using public water supplies. When the water is evacuated, so is the life of the region. Aquifers are drying up- this isn't good.

In Israel, a sinkhole swallowed the entire town of Ein Gedi. If you want to visit the Dead Sea, you have to go online and check the sinkhole report for the day. It's a super active area right now, mostly due to Jordan and the West Bank draining all the water that should be going to the sea. If they would dig wells instead of diverting river water, the problem could be easily solved.

I grew up in southern Indiana, and sinkholes are not uncomon there. The bedrock (limestone) is typically close to the surface, and full of caves. All it takes to form a sinkhole is a bit of underground erosion in one of tiose caves. My parents' pla e had a sinkhole in the back field that was big enough that a car someone dumped long ago was barely visible. One thing my dad always told us when walking in the woods was to be careful of walking on depressions, especially if they were covered by leaves (it was the woods, so they always were) so that you can't sew the ground.

It was June 1987 when i was driving on SR70 when a massive hole opened and swallowed the road along with 10 cars in front of me. I watched another 4 or 5 cars drive in before traffic stopped safely short of the hole. Several of us tried to save those in the sinkhole, but it was too risky and then the cars disappeared into the collapsing soil.

🎆 ~ I've always wanted to live in Florida cuz Flipper lived there ... this doc changed my mind.
*I'll stay landlocked with arctic temps, blizzards, & tornadoes* in the Northern Midwest U.S. where the National Weather Service meteorologists' dangerous wind chill, blizzard, & tornado WATCHES & WARNINGS give multiple counties adequate-to-lotza time to PREPARE to survive it - stay home or travel with survival supplies in the winter; in the summer, to take cover, or drive to an underground shelter for protection from the violent twisters' winds.
Not to forget mentioning that the Northern Midwest's weather's eerie signs of the sky itself (pre-tornado sky is sobering) give everyday folks visual & audible sensory clues, too, as a personal heads-up to take cover soon ORRRRR IMMEDIATELY to protect themselves & animals *IN ADVANCE* of disaster. Heck - professional "Storm Chasers" are gung-ho about HUNTING tornadoes on video.
Whoever heard of a "Sinkhole Chaser"?!? Point made. The scientists in this vid are the closest ones earning that title, but they can't warn people in the same way - to leave immediately cuz an *INSTANT SURPRISE SINKHOLE* is gonna happen. 😳 Swallowed by a sinkhole while sleeping? 🤯
Impressive that a few acutely aware people in this vid noticed subtle-to-severe signs of unknown impending danger & also *intuitively knew* something BAD was gonna happen that DEFIED LOGIC - & luv that they weren't swayed/deterred by people & authorities not taking them seriously - implying that they were crazily imagining it all.
Read *"The Gift of Fear"* book - *never betray your intuition* - never!!! Pray for better science.🙏
GOD BLESS ALL SINKHOLE PTSD SURVIVORS, FIRST RESPONDERS, & VICTIMS' LOVED ONES. 💔
    Sprinkling ✝️ Blessings ~ 🎆
