I had a few 2 strokes when I was a kid. Loved them, particularly the noise they make. Can't do electric vehicles as the mechanical noise is a huge part of the experience.
I actually like the way electric accelerates without all the noise lol it makes it feel like your jumping into hyperspace lol 😆
I hear that. the lack of engine noise is a downer. but I bet if you rode a really powerful electric bike you'd figure out a compromise. electric motors have instant torque and it's intense. I rode alot of 2 stroke bikes and ATVs when I was young and I've found electric engines deliver something similar to that 2 stroke feeling.
I have been riding for 45+ years and to this day refuse to listen to music when I ride. I love the sound of my bikes and I also want to hear everything around me.
I'm in my 60's and had 2 stroke road bikes, they were amazing, still my favourite bikes.
Nothing like the smell of two stroke in the morning. Still have my second bike from high school. Early 70's. Kawasaki H1 500. Expansion chambers, velocity stacks, jetted. Great times on that bike.
I owned a Kawasaki KR1 and then sold it and bought a KR1-S. It was green and black and I believe it still holds the record for the fastest ever top speed recorded on a 250cc off the shelf street bike - 139mph. My biggest regret is ever selling that bike. I loved it.
2 Stroke nostalgia. love it. My second bike ever was a Suzuki RG250 half fairing after learning the basics on a clapped out CB250. I'll never forget the first time I hit the power band & did an unintentional wheelie almost the entire length of my street while trying to hang on for dear life. Good times!
We were lucky enough in Australia to get all of the 2 stroke smorgasbord that Japan had to offer, but with a 250cc cap & power to weight limits, the RG250 was the fastest bike you could ride on your learner & provisional license, so there were plenty of us out there testing our limits on these beasts. There's a few RGV's ^ NSR's listed for sale now, but nothing beats the kickstart only fun of the RG250 & I'd love to add one to my current collection if I ever come across one again.
You guys still using that 250cc limit until now too? Malaysia sure is ._.
I had the RG250 MK3 with full fairing and power valves in Kevin Schwantz Pepsi colors. That bike was quicker into corners than any other bike I've owned, only did 110mph flat out though. I always wanted the faster, more reliable and better looking TZR250 but by the time I could afford one I was looking at 600's and bought an FZR. Still the RG was an awesome machine at the time but after the second time the engine blew it had to go.
@@marcustaylor670 It's the 16" front wheel that helps give it that razor handling in the corners. I'd always be grinning from ear to ear when passing a bigger bike in the corners.
@@ADingoTookMyDasco - People used to complain about 16" wheels back then because a few bikes had them, I had no problems. I used to run Metzelers.
Who cares about a damn permit
Had an MC21 NSR250R here in Japan between 1999 and 2003. Three months after I bought it I was hit by a guy in a minivan who decided last minute that he needed to get gas so he turned from two lanes over without looking and I got knocked down. Bike got fixed, I used the compensation money to buy a JHA full exhaust system, 'racing' air intake, and derestricted CDI. Had a shop adjust the jetting and do fine tuning. Made 78hp at the rear wheel. Fastest but scariest thing I've ever ridden.
Never going to give up my RZ350, especially with a California plate. 🏍
I had RD350 and my roommate had the Canadian RZ350 LC back in the day. My bike was more of a beast than his but, his was so smooth compared to mine. Mine was basically a track bike with lights and was stripped down to nothing so it wheelied the 1st three gears w/out trying all the time, lol. His bike did have a little more top end. About 20 years ago the neighbor of my boss had a Kenny Roberts replica and he refused to sell it. I currently have the 76 RD400 in my profile pic and will never sell it as well.
The Suzuki RGV250 & The Aprillia RS250,:had same V2 engine but Aprillia used another exhaust system and pumped out a but more ho becsuse of that. The RS250, became a legend on the race track!
I love the smell of two-stroke in the morning. It smells like victory.
I had and would love to have again a 1975 Kawasaki 750 H2c
I have a Aprilia rs 125 2 stroke and it pushes around 40hp believe me or not. What you can’t forget about 2 strokes is that they are capped from factory and you can open the horsepower gates quite easily
thats some crazy power lol.
I was riding my 1974 RD350 on a 150 mile weekend trip in 1975 to visit my mother when, 30 miles from my destination, the bike slowed down as if a parachute had been deployed. I knew that it had seized for some reason, but managed to nurse it the rest of the way at low speed. Saturday morning I found that the rolled pin, which controlled the length of the oil pump stroke, had come out, so I was metering oil in amounts intended for idle speed while traveling around 70 mph. I pulled the jugs, took them to a small repair shop to be bored to accommodate the pistons and rings I got at the Yamaha dealership, tapped in a new oil pump pin, installed pistons, jugs and heads, torqued the heads and Sunday afternoon was on my way again. That's the beauty of a two-stroke -- simplicity. (In later models, Yamaha replaced the rolled steel pin which was prone to wiggling out). Your video was enjoyable, but a quick diagram or mpeg of a two stroke engine going through its cycles would have been a helpful addition. I also might mention that, even though the two-stroke has twice as many power stokes per 720 degrees of crank rotation, I believe that this does not automatically mean twice the power per displacement, as efficiency has to be considered. Finally, I would love to have an RZ350, even at my advanced age.
Highly recommend finding an RZ350. I have owned mine since 1985. The most fun you can have with your pants on. 😊
in europe thers still alot of road legal new two strokes you can still buy
I’ve been riding for 52 years, I’ve had many 2 strokes, I now have the 400, 500, and 750 Kawasaki Triples. Which I ride regularly. The big difference between my H2 750 triple and my Z900 RS is the fact, there is horsepower and then there is 2 stroke horsepower. Hundreds of moving parts vs. 6 moving parts. 2 Strokes have very little parasitic drag, where 4 strokes are all about parasitic drag. Because you loose part of your intake charge out the exhaust port,🎉 2 Stokes get less gas mileage compared to a 4 Stroke. But in my opinion the death of the 2 Stroke was the exhaust sound, do you want your motorcycle to sound like a angry chain saw or a Harley. People want their motorcycles to make a low bass drumming sound not a high nasal ring-ding-ding.
I always wanted to find a Kawasaki 500 triple, lucky 🍀 you!
My buddies and I used to call the two-stroke bikes "wing-dings" because of the noise they made.
I LOVE ripping my RZ350 around town with race gas and bean oil for added race-track smell. Seeing all the various expressions on people's faces is a treat. Some younger people look at me with disdain for the smoke while others try to pull their cell camera out to get a picture of a ghost. People over 40 usually give a big knowing smile and thumbs-up. Prius drivers flip you the bird and muscle-car drivers want to drag race. I've had people who should know better ask if it has a powerband or how big is the powerband. I get about 20 mpg and will tell you for a fact that riding a 2-stroke is the most fun you can have on the street LEGALLY.
Yes, I want my motorcycles to sound like angry chain saws. Angry chainsaws are high revving 2 strokes lol. Just listen to bikes like the Honda CR80 or the RD400 Daytona, they're unmatched. The rotaries(RX7s specially) sound the same and people love them.
I love the way 2 strokes sound you're trippin.
The rise and fall of yammie 🙌
hi, bye
My first bike was a Yamaha TDR 125cc 2-stroke. It was a lot of fun.
I own a Yamaha TDR 125 Belgarda right now. Is a fun and nimble small bike, it's also my first bike.
Coming from a Motocross perspective…. Even in motocross 4 strokes dominate, some of that may be due to the AMA’s displacement rule for pro racing (250 2stroke races with 450 4 strokes) but even in other racing organizations where the 250 class is just 250cc’s, 2 or 4 stroke, most riders ride a 4 stroke because with the increase in 4 stroke technology the power gap isn’t as much as it used to be, while the broad usable power that a 4 stroke makes is much easier to put to the ground allowing a marginally slower bike still be faster around the track. Nothing sounds better than a fast rider ringing the neck of a 125 2 stroke around the track though. 2 strokes still dominate in other off-road racing such as hard enduro
Yup, 4 stroke 450s would never have a chance against same displacement 2 strokes.
@@Toxic2T I disagree. 450 4 strokes destroy 500 2 strokes in every way other than a drag race. When you have turns and rough terrain, the broad useable power of a 4 stroke allows for faster lap times against 500 2 strokes that might have a bit more peak power. I assume the same would be true if they made 450 2 strokes.
@@BikesandBlickeys OLD 500s. I'm sure the poster meant a modern 450 factory 2 stroke with the advancements we would have seen if not for the 2 stroke ban.
how can you talk about two strokes without naming the Yamaha TZR 250 and the Aprilia RS 250?..... two of the most iconic 2 stroke bikes...

@@carlosmacedo1700 An RZ350 with Pipes would beat all the 550 and 600cc sport bikes 0 to 100 mph until around 1990.
I rode for a while a Yamaha TR2 250 air-cooled factory race bike - only on track. Who knows what power it made, but it screamed with a power band between 11500 and 12000 rpm. At 7000 rpm it couldn't pull the skin off a custard. It was a blast to ride, constantly rowing through the gears to keep it on song and brakes no better than dragging your feet along the ground. It ran on Avgas and needed a new set of plugs about every 30 miles (48 klm). Definitely my favourite two stroke. I'm on the lookout for any 80s two stroke to restore and ride for the pure fun of it. Who needs a sports bike when you got a screaming mess between your legs.
Sold my RG500 for peanuts, should never have sold it, was ported and polished, had custom high rev chambers, and a GSXR 1100 front end with electric anti-dive, 330mm brake rotors and 4 piston callipers, braided lines of course. It was sitting at my Dads farm in the shed, not bothering anyone. Since then I do not sell motorcycles.
I just got a 1991 NSR250 a few weeks ago. It’s insanely fast. Still working on getting it jetted correctly for Salt Lake altitude.
Great video!
The most legendary two strokes was the Yamaha tzr 250
I was lucky enough to ride one, gosh post 5k rpm, it had superbike pull, i think it's about 60bhp, my uncle owns a TZ 250 weighs 100kgs and puts out about 80bhp which is bonkers for a 250.
@@m.rraghav817 I really want one
It's the nsr 500 for me, 2 stroke V4 🤤
Strongly disagree , most legendary is Kawasaki H2 750 mach IV or the 500
RZV500 V4 2stroke
My first bike was the 2001 Aprilia RS250 and still have it today 😁🇦🇺 Awesome bike and in my opinion one of the best looking bikes of all time
that's amazing! im 16 and im currently saving for an nsr150 lol😂

❤2-stroke street bikes!❤
Got my first bike this week. Yamaha tzr 50cc 2 stroke.:) amazing machines
Shame cr500 and all others been discontinued. I’m not buying any 4 stroke. No valve timing cam chain adjustments for me
Here in South East Asia we got the nsr 150 sp, it made 39hp from a 150cc. But the coolest thing about it is the fact that it comes with a single sided swingarm just like modern Ducati.
I got to ride the 150 RR, dear lord it's heaven.
europe is full or nsrs and aprilia rs i would have thought the 150 nsr would be based of the 125
2 stroke > 4 stroke > anything > electric
Hi Yam, my mate had an RGV 250 SLINGSHOT he imported in the 90's.
He went down not long after he got it and had the wind put up him. He sold it and never rode again.
I'd like to ride it now.
Thanks for the vid.
Cheers.

My first bike was 79 Yamaha dt two stroke and it’s amazing bike and all two strokes are great and super easy to work on. Less factors no battery no coolant just simple. I still have my dt and don’t plan on selling anytime soon.
I own a 2000 Aprilia RS50 they also had street legal RS250's in the US both are rare as hell in the USA I love 2 strokes!
My very first 2 stroke is Yamaha 125z and I really liked it
Not even one sound clip of a 2 stroke bike? Sacrilege.
Yammie Noob is legit! I see a video from him, I watch it.
Did you put a diagram of a valve engine with a four stroke cycle to explain 2 strokes? Should have shown a ported 2 stroke diagram.
Here for yams downfall 🎉🎉🎉
It was a sad day when they did away with the 2 stroke bikes. I started riding in 1977 on a 250 Suzuki GT was lots of fun , had a 2 high side get off, by gasing up to hard coming out of a turn , put for its time it felt like a nimble and stable bike, whit a spunky power band.
The fact that the Yamaha TZ-750 wasn’t mentioned on this list is appalling.
While local club racing in the early 80s a guy raced a TZ750. I bowed down in adoration every time it came to life.
my dad had a kawasaki 750 back in 1975... I was lucky enough to ride that same bike when I reached the tender age of 18. As it was bought from my dad by his friend who was motorcycle mechanic and kept it in mint condition.
i’m learning to ride a motorcycle right now (i’m not going to ride on the street I just want to know), i’m 14 and am learning on my dad’s 1994 rx100 two stroke and though i’ve only taken it up to second gear, i can honestly really feel the power, especially when i compare it to the other 100cc vehicle i’ve ridden, my cousins 100cc cvt scooter, the scooter seemed so darn slow (well it is but the yamaha feels like a rocket ship in comparison, not to mention that iconic sound.)
Bro I am learning on an rx z 6 speed it is so powerful
Hey Dude, you neglected to touch upon the Yamaha RZ 500, V4 twin crank 2 stroke that was produced from 1984 through to the end of 1985. It had a steel perimeter frame, produced about 88 horsepower and had a top speed of 150 m.p.h.😢
i own a new 2021but old desing two stroke, which its a ax 100, and i love it. its fun and on the start up smells super nice. my first and only bike at the moment.
In India, Yamaha RX100 still remains the unbeaten 2 stroke legend
Was looking for this comment 😂✌️
Here in Argentina aswell, like the RX115 special or the 125. When tuned, they're plain dangerous.
They Fell?!?! Two Stroke Bike week just happened a couple weeks ago at the Dragon, Hell Yeah!! There were a few RG's there 250's and 500's. I nearly broke my leg kicking myself in the A$$ over the fact that I never purchased one of these back when they were cheap and nobody wanted one. I do have a couple of 2 stroke Bicycles and a moped, LoL. But hopefully one day I can get a real 2 stroke motorcycle to go with my 4 strokes.
The rz350 is one of the best looking bikes ever to me, but waiting to hear you talk about the rz500. My dad has one that he bought new in 1984 sitting inside his house with about 5000 miles on the odometer. I got to ride on it when I was like 5, but now I'm pushing 30 and he still hasn't let me take it for a spin. I guess that's why it's sitting inside his house instead of his garage
May I please have his address?
it's sitting because no one can afford to rebuild it if it gets crashed or blows up. It's probably worth $30k to $40k
I still miss the strokers, my first bike was the little Suzuki Stinger 125 followed by an S2 Kawasaki 350, then the H2 which used to scare me every time the roads were even slightly damp so when a Magnum rolling chassis became available the H2 engine was dropped into it along with a Stan Stephens stage two tune which for a while in the mid 70s was the fastest best handling bike in N. Ireland, in the 80s I had a Yamaha RD350 LC then a 350 powervalve and my final stroker in the 90s was a beautiful little Aprilia RS250 (probably the best handling bike I've had) now I'm a lot older and enjoy my Street Triple RS but still miss the sound ,smell and power band of the strokers.
i'm a sportbike/road cycling guy till I die (probably from one or the other), but some of the best times I've ever had on 2 wheels have been on my little sisters 2t 50cc Aprillia scooter.
I miss 2 strokes!😭
My Dad has an RG500... Its absolutely frightening with 120hp. Til 7 thousand rpm there is barely anything going on. But as soon as you rev higher you think you are flying off the bike haha. Nice vid Yammie!
I have had many two-stroke little bikes, I do love the smell but I do love WD40

Nice video Yammie. I can't seem to be done with 2 strokes with a garage full of RZ350's and a one off custom RZV500. My channel is about these bikes, shows, rides, etc.

In fact i started riding on a 2 stroke Back in 2018 ... In Germany there is a Community around the 2 strokes from the Germen Democratic Republik. Mainly for the 2 stroke 50 ccm Simson Bikes with around 3.5 HP because you can ride thos with the age of 15 unrestricted (you can geht speeds Up to 70 or 80 km/h ... Don't know whats the equivalant for that but i think around 45 mph). And If you get a bit know how you can get a lot more Power Out of the 50 ccm by Just manipulating the Zylinders. And a lot of people Love there 2 stroke Cars 😅

Sounds like it was either a blessing or a curse that you ended up in the hospital that night probably more of a blessing. With that said the h2 sounds like it was fun
Good video bro but you had a picture of a RG500 up when you were talking about an RG250, only know cause I have both and an RGV 😂 we really are nuts about them
My bike is the RD350lc ive a RD350ypvs also an a TDR250ypvs most of my bikes were 2 strokes but my every day bike is the RD350LC 1980 you can get mineral based 2strokes you just can't beat sound smell an power an I love smokin lads on their cbr600's R6's everywhere its great.

Used 2t bikes, still love the instant torque and the 2t smell❤😂😅
GT750 was known as the Kettle here in the UK and always melted the middle piston. Pretty quick when it was going though.

I got a old '58 Vespa 150 that was my grandpa's originally. Got a new 150cc LML engine in it now with the stock drum brakes and man is it terrifyingly exciting. You take thoughs hard turns doing 40mph and it feels like you're on a old ass wooden structure roller-coaster as it shakes. It's the best near death experience at 40mph you'll ever have. The fact that "manufacturers haven't been able to produce bikes for street use since 1985" is not true. Kawasaki made the KE100 thru the 2001 model year. An outlier yes, but it was the last of the two strokes here in the states. Although it was a design several decades old
Also the 2002 CR500E street legal in America I believe. 👍👍🇦🇺

2 strokes alive and well here in the UK....

I would Definetly take the 2 stroke Over the Electric one
If I had to choose one, I'll take "the Widowmaker" over a Zero any day of the week, and twice on Sundays!!!
"if you could only ride a buzzy 2-stroke or a silent electric bike for the rest of your life, what would it be?"
Is that even a question? I wish we still had 2-strokes!
Two strokes producers less emissions than a diesel engine by a lot. We was all lied in the 90s.
Fact: 2 stroke engines were banned in India because it pollutes more.
Hopefully with the new tech they allow them again!!
Kawasaki 500 , 3 cylinder 2 smoke. Scariest bike on the street except for the 750 version. Expansion chambers , flat seat ,poor brakes , questionable handling, weak frame... So much fun to ride. Never rode the 750. Water Buffalo wasn't scary , the Yamaha 350 was fun not as scary.
My first bike was the last two stroke production bike sold in the US, the venerable Kawasaki KE100. It was great, would it gap a turbo Busa no.

Got a 22 year old Honda NSR. There's almost something immortal about two strokes. Oil and lube and they last a lifetime.
The rear brakedisk however, man, are those ever hard to find replacements for. Anyone know if someone still makes replacements ? Been looking for years..
What part do you need? Here in Australia you can get a custom rotor made pretty cheaply. A caliper might be a challenge, though the possibility of something from a similar bike fitting is high.
RZ350 was the answer. just extremely sweet bike.
Here in Serbia 2 strokes are still quite popular u can see plenty of bikes like aprilia rs125 and honda nsr125
I don’t miss two strokes, I still ride one.
Suzuki RG500 Gamma or Yamaha RD500 would be my choice for a 2-stroke bike.
i ride my 50cc 2 stroke and man everytime i turn that thing on i always have a good time even though it isnt even tuned and restricted to 42kph
Damn CR500s going for more than the trailer nowadays😂
Two stroke over a electric bike, even though it would be slower and much more maintenance intensive.
And the brands sold proper racing kits with different ignition, exhausts, carbs, cylinder heads, transforming them in fully race bikes the rgv could get over 72hp just with the kit and loose over 100 punds making it close to the 1hp per kg when tunned
