Steel is my 2nd favourite type, but Ferrothorn is just disgusting. Also, Excadrill was so busted in Gen V because of Sand Rush, not Mold Breaker. Doubling the speed of something with a base of 88 and such high attack is horrendous; that’s why Sand Rush Excadrill was banned
You know, I did build a team on Pokémon Showdown and considered using Sand Rush Excadrill for my take on Iris’s Ultimate Team, and Mold Breaker is a great one too, but I figured I’d go with Sand Force instead. And he’s still powerful.
@@kazukiishimura3972 Dragon is my favourite type, I know, how basic. However, I do really like their strength and regal aura (except this dumb apple dragon in gen 8). Incidentally, my favourite Pokémon is neither Steel nor Dragon, but Electric, the Lightning Tiger Raikou

Grass isn't the worst defensive typing lmao, it's got very useful and unic resistances to ground, water and elektrik and it's weaknesses, though numerous are generally very easy to see coming. Want bad defensive typings ? Ice, rock and bug will show you what that means.
@@artimist0315 True, those are all worse defensive typings than grass, though its funny how some bad types combines well with great typings, others do not. Bug is horrible, but is made very good with steel, rock is also horrible , and when you combine it with steel is absolutely horrendous. Two opposites!
@@artimist0315 "it's weaknesses, though numerous are generally very easy to see coming" is not even a real argument. Grass is the worst defensive type because of the sheer number of weaknesses it has, can't be anything better than worst when half of the game is effective against it. At least rock, ground and ice got the offensive to make up for it weak defense. Grass has nothing.
Aegislash was unbanned because it was directly nerfed by game freak, by going from 150 to 140 in attack and defense and king shield went from dropping attack by two stages to only one. This last change made a huge difference, since it meant that physical attackers could finally have ways to break through it. Previously with good anticipation, you could win your dual with tyranitar since it's attack was low enough where it couldn't kill you. I still think it should be higher on this list, it is a great pokemon even with the nerfs.
Honestly, Wolfe Glick would probably agree with you on this list. Yes Lucario and Metagross are monsters, but Gen 8 brought a few monsters itself. So I understand wanting the old Gen to be top stuff, but understand they are outclassed now. The only ones that sorta retained a top row status is Charizard and Venasuar. So understandable why favorites aren’t a the top spot.
I've hit master ball rank every season with monk steel and I mostly agree with this list. Really feel like Aegislash should be higher. And no klefki?! With prankster you can run dual screens or thunder wave etc. With foul play to counter someone setting up on you. Probably the best support pokemon in the steel typing.
I had most of the ‘Mons on this list for my Steel team in Black 2. I agree 100% with this list. Lucario is great, but not as a Steel-type. Metagross is busted, but an OK Psychic-type. Ferrothorn completely surprised me as it was the one that I never wanted but came to my rescue right when I needed it.
Personally I say that bronzong should swap places with magnezone, it is immune to ground type moves, not 4x weak to them, it “in my opinion” has a better typing, and magnezone has just no coverage. The two things magnezone has over bronzong is it’s high special attack and thunder wave. Also I’m so glad that one of my favorite Pokémon Scizor scored to high. :)
Magnezone has another thing over Bronzong (and the main thing that makes it better); Magnet Pull. Being able to trap and remove opposing Steel-types can be instrumental in allowing more offensive teammates to break or sweep with minimal interference.
Well it comes down to what you play. Bronzong is inferior to Mag in singles, vice versa. I would also like to comment on how Bronzong has no coverage and a lack of damage output for such coverage. The only thing that is prolly gonna do some damage output is Gyro Ball. Also Bronzong has Hypnosis and Gravity (in some gens). Mag on the other hand can trap but is not as reliable with the loss of Hidden Power. I prefer Bronzong nevertheless cuz I’m a doubles player lol
So glad you're doing non legendary video. My buddy's and I refuse to use any legendaries on our teams, so love knowing what some of the best are without it being a top 10 legendary video
Metagross is my favorite pokemon ever since its debut on pokemon anime series. and i have no complains from him not on top 5. Because yeah. Your analysis have a point.
Empoleon was robbed and it makes 0 sense why. It loses its fire type weakness and it’s other typing is super effective against ground types… just weird all around.
I may have to do another 8th gen play through and get another Corviknight. Even with bad IV’s and nature on my first one it was a dominant threat in battle
Personally with my rule of no repeat Pokemon, Pokemon such as Lucario, Metagross, Scizor, Excadrill, Corviknight and Ferrothorn aren't allowed in my Top 10 Strongest No Legendaries Steel Type Pokemon list. Bronzong, Magnezone and Aegislash are on my list and Skarmory could've been on their too, but I personally don't think it's as great as Steel, even with it's awesome dual typing. So other Steel types I had on my No Legendaries list are Aggron, Empoleon, Revavroom (even though your list came out before Gen 9 did), Steelix, Copperajah, Archaludon (Same as Revavroom) and Gholdengo (Same as Revavroom and Archaludon).

Because you've placed Pokemon on this list I thought you wouldn't, it was a unique one in my eyes. You reminded me half the Pokemon on this list how useful they are in the competitive sense. As a Lucario fan, I wasn't mad when he wasn't high up on the list because although it hits strong and fast along with a variety of move pools, there are many ways to shut it down however, it is still far from weak.
Isn't it funny how the only steel sudo legendary didn't even make the top 5, but I do agree there are a lot of strong and powerful steel types and it's definitely one of if not my top favourite Pokémon type

And though their evolutions are mentioned, magneton and doublade are big threats on their own but otherwise it's a good list.
Okay, I have to disagree with you on one thing. Weavile can totally tank Scizor. Best move pools to use on Weavile in any set would be it's STAB moves, Ice Punch & Night Slash, but add Brick Break as a surprise move addition. With the addition of Brick Break you get 11/18 type advantage options with Weavile. Swords Dance for boosted mayhem on the battlefield and you get the perfect all rounder. Make sure your Weavile has an Impish Nature for boosted Phy-Def and EV Train for Atk, Speed, and Def. Add on the Expert Belt and you have bonus damage to all super effective moves.
Lucario is my favourite pokémon but even I can't deny its place here, even though it really hurts to acknowledge. Most of it is Cobalions fault, it has the same typing but its essentially just a better version of Lucario, its defensively bulkier and can be used as a Stealth Rocker, while also being faster than Lucario. like the last one with psychics, ALOT of steel types are victims of their own typings. for example, you get a decently fast pokemon with good special attack and have it know/use a flamethrower and you can oneKO all of these pokemon especially ferrothorn and scizor but except for excadrill. or you find a decently strong pokemon and have it know/use brick break and all of them are done except bronzong, corvinight metagross and skarmory. what im saying is as cool and good as steel types are they can be so easily knocked out unless they have coverage. its to the point that depending on what you or your opponent uses, almost all steel types can be knocked out with a single fire or fighting type move that any steel type wont even get a chance to do anything...

you should do poison next :)
Ah steel my favorite Pokémon type and my main Pokémon type in battle my main Pokémon are Lucario, ferrothorn, and especially empoleon
like the last one with psychics, ALOT of steel types are victims of their own typings. for example, you get a decently fast pokemon with good special attack and have it know/use a flamethrower and you can oneKO all of these pokemon especially ferrothorn and scizor but except for excadrill. or you find a decently strong pokemon and have it know/use brick break and all of them are done except bronzong, corvinight metagross and skarmory. what im saying is as cool and good as steel types are they can be so easily knocked out unless they have coverage. its to the point that depending on what you or your opponent uses, almost all steel types can be knocked out with a single fire or fighting type move that any steel type wont even get a chance to do anything...
