    Clearly the best handstand tutorial on youtube.

    I like your tutorial. A lot of people have the problem of not being able to stop moving in handstands and can't hold it steady. If you can walk on your hands, great, but the best objective here is to be able to hold it steady.

    Thanks for the kind words guys! I will complete another video early next year, have been flat out completing a masters degree and working close to full time so apologies for the delay in a follow up video...

    That was awesome!
    Linked on the CrossFit Brand X forum as a much better answer to a question than I was able to give.

    Best handstand tutorial on TH-cam. Gunna definitely work on my hollow body holds more now. Can't seem to maintain straight body positioning.

    Elevated, by elevating the shoulder joint is unloaded and as such your range of movement is improved.

    Nice video and superb handstands! By the way, the movement (and stretch) you are referring to, is not called shoulder extension but shoulder flexion.

    Thanyou for a very good video.Will use all what you said to improve me handstand.

    Shadae Caradine - if you are flipping onto your back try taking a bigger step and lunge into the handstand, if you look at one of my examples in the video if you throw your hands down in really close to your feet you will generate rotation and go straight into your back

    I really like the tips on handstand progression, and especially the tips on training the hollow body position, but I think that training to be able PRESS into handstand without hoping is probably the ideal method for training to get into a handstand. It takes more work to develop strength, control and balance, but it also leads to a more solid handstand and provides a foundation for learning other skills.

    • @PeakSportScience
      @PeakSportScience  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Lisa Knowlton cxa011500 I whole heartedly agree that there is far more control in a press to handstand, and I am highly proficient in many variations of this, however when considering the time it takes to develop and the many other factors which can severely slow progress (especially adductor flexibility), for beginners it is nice to give them something achievable to give them a taste of what is possible, instead of causing them to feel dejected and as though it is "all too hard". With this said there is definitely a skill to being able to kick up to a handstand and hold without any instability. I believe train the handstand first so you have somewhere to finish, and then if you are committed we can work towards a press thereafter, be it from stand, straddle sit, l-sit, a straddle press, a pike press or even a press to jap stand.

    When you do the shoulder extension, should your shoulders be elevated/shrugged or kept down?

  • @PeakSportScience
    @PeakSportScience  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    4lpina - you want to have your elbows completely straight, if they are bent you are really relying on strength and not balance to hold you up, and you will tire quickly.

  • @europeanbamf
