      @Steven GENNERO Bootz Personally I start with the 3/4 ounce and move up as the tide moves, but I try to use the least amount of weight that holds bottom. If I’m fishing shallow I move to 1/4 & 1/2 oz

  • @gennerobootz6490

    I like how they make these jigs under a 3/4 normally tog jigs are made where 3/4 is the lightest they make

    May I suggest a wool glove on your left hand to grab the fish. You can control the fish and not drop it. Banging up the fish is not healthy for them.
    Also some guys wait till the jig moves before setting the hook to target only biguns.
    Also, lots of guys are mounting those fw electric trolling motors with GPS on the bow. Keeps you in place over any structure.
    Great video. I really enjoy your enthusiasm. Tog get in your blood just like fluke.

    Nice video, what tide do you fish for them in? Slack, or does it not matter

    • @609Fishing
      @609Fishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as there’s moving water they should be biting. The only time I never had great success with them is during slack. Personally I think it varies where you’re fishing, if you’re fishing near an inlet where you have cleaner water I don’t think it matters whether it’s incoming or outgoing. I do notice the bite is much better on clean water days 👍

      @@609Fishing that's cuz they stay inshore(jetties, bulkheads,backbays) for a quick bite at the 7 eleven before they head out into the ocean once the water gets colder. Also I've fished for them in January before and even then they're pretty sluggish and it's usually more of a pick that anything

    How long do they stay inshore?

    • @609Fishing
      @609Fishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally I think it’s water temperature that dictates that. I’ve noticed over the years the bite becomes inexistent once the water drops below 50 in the back bay. Last year I went the first week in November & did well, went 5 days later & they were gone (water temp was below 50). Which is interesting because they are a cold water fish 🤷‍♂️
