Really makes you wonder what Brad Bird could’ve done if he actually got to make a Superman movie. The Iron Giant proves he understands the heart of Superman and The Incredibles proves he knows how to make an unforgettable superhero movie
I've always thought the same thing! Brad Bird would be a perfect director for a Superman movie. The Iron Giant proves he gets the character, The Incredibles proves he can tell a great superhero story, and Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol proves he can make an amazing live action blockbuster, he's a fantastic director!
I'm glad more people are finally viewing The Iron Giant in this way! I actually did a video on my own channel years ago on this exact topic, so I'm glad I'm not alone!
I just watched your video and it's great! It always makes me happy to hear people share their love for this movie, it's a film that deserves to be talked about for years to come
The Iron Giant was definitely a great film featuring Superman, as Superman played an influential role in the Iron Giant's character development. Hogarth used Superman to inspire the Iron Giant to become a hero.
Hogarth explaining Superman to the Iron Giant and showing him his comics is one of the most wholesome scenes in any animated film, really beautiful stuff
This was a good essay on a good film. I never thought of Iron Giant that way, the same in some ways with Superman. Even so I did always have these similar feelings towards the Snyder Cut Justice League. It was a better and redeeming version of a film that really crapped out due to horrible circumstances. The film (Or miniseries ) itself gave off the feeling of that they were a team. They were there to fight for what was right, and all of them had a tragic past which they overcame in their own ways. Wonder Woman wasn't a cartoon character, Aquaman was a badass, Cyborg didn't look like a baked potato in tin foil, The Flash (Before Ezra screwed up big in real life) was interesting, Batman wasn't a joke like he was in the original version. And Superman was not a weapon to be resurrected for the sake of winning in the Snyder cut, instead it felt like he was a long time friend who was gone. Who lost his way, and needed to be brought back by his friends and so he was brought back.
I completely agree with you on the Snyder Cut, it's one of those instances where the director's cut is a massive improvement over the threatical release
I have always said if you want to understand superman watch iron giant this is the greatest animated movie ever made a masterpiece that never got the attention it deserved
If ever adapted to film it better hold up. Stay true and be good. Im tired of superhero movies. I dont watch. I still watch and cry from the iron giant all these years later. Its pure. I dont want it to be Hollywood ruined.
The Iron Giant is definitely a great movie featuring Superman, who inspired the Iron Giant, but I do think that movies such Superman vs. the Elite and All-Star Superman are better Superman movies.

@@SantiBarrios Ratatouille is another one of my absolute favorites
And yet Incredibles 2 SUCKED... *Shrugs*
@@peterrealar2.067 yes it did. Tomorrowland wasn’t great either
@@dynaguy3 Now, that was undermined by its ending I've heard. It's not because of meddling like Incredibles 2.
Brad Bird needs to direct a Superman movie! 😭
What an immaculate job you've done with this video, thank you.
This is my favorite video I've done, thank you so much

I remember seeing this at the drive in when it came out, and when Cartoon Network would have 24 hour Iron Giant marathons, great childhood memories
While Man of Steel is my favourite Superman movie, your video has made me want to watch this movie even more
Thank you! Man of Steel is also a great movie and definitely deserves a rewatch.
@@SantiBarriosI honestly think that Man of Steel was a terrible Superman film that doesn't understand who Superman is and what he stands for.
Truth, Justice, and The American Way!
This movie is a classic to me

Lovely and insightful video. Keep
It up.
Thank you so much! Really glad you enjoyed it
A truly amazing film that proved Brad Bird is a great writer, but doesn't do well when given limitations.
Also the portrayal of the gov actors is on point!
I love the iron giant and my favorite superman kivie is Superman vs the elite and superman man of tomorrow.
"Superman!"

It's a great introduction to superman really, it perfectly encapsulates his morals and values
Great video new sub
Thank you! I really appreciate it
8:40 Maybe that´s one of the reason (among others, of course) of why Superman movies III and IV just simply failed...

Not the best superman movie without Superman.
The best superman movie period.
