In 1999 the “Iron Giant” hit theaters, as he hit earth in 1957...
The movie wasn’t promoted well by Warner Bros. and got not the attention it surely deserved. It even turned out to be a financial loss. But things changed during the time and the Iron Giant became a cult classic, loved by about everybody who saw it.
The musical score was composed by Michael Kamen, who, you will confirm, did one of his best works for this animated feature. It is filled with love, action... everything you could think of and that all colorful orchestrated.
If you haven’t seen the picture, make sure you do. It can surely be called a masterpiece. But for now: Enjoy!

One of the best animated films ever made! Interestingly, it was the drectorial feature debut of Brad Bird who also directed The Incredibles and Ratatouile. Bird always employs music in a masterful way when it comes to setting the tone and the scene. The first scene with the satellite and the tonal shift is pure genius!
Saying that Warner Bros. didn't promote this film is an understatement. They had no idea what they had on their hands, even less how to promote it. I sat in my seat weeping at the Giant's "Superman" moment. As I left the theater there were two moms leaving with their kids and one said to the other, "I don't know why there weren't any songs." The Disney-fication of expectations! That said Kamen's work here is superb! I think 7:00 - 8:04 is my favorite selection. Playful and gorgeous it ends with a touch of jazz and that little xylophone 'Doit'. What a great score. Thanks Fred!
It’s a very good movie! The soundtrack is definitely part of that. Brad Bird who went on to helm many great Pixar movies directed and helped write the screenplay is at his best from the beginning. I highly recommend this movie! Extra credit if you catch the Jack Kerouac reference in the movie.
This movie came out when I was 17. Barely heard a peep about it, but was aware of its existence. Fast forward to 2015; I'm 33 and trying to kill time on a lazy afternoon with my three-year-old daughter. Fired up TIG and plopped onto the couch with no expectations. Stunned is an understatement. Superman.....and my kiddo loved it.
Soundtrack Fred- I see you pop up and it’s always a gift. Thank you for once again sharing this exceptional music. I still miss Mr Kamen. He died too young. But what a legacy he left. Thank you

Hi, Fred! I love to remember Michael Kamen, both the person responsible for the strings arrangements of the delicious " Here Comes The Rain Again " ( by Eurythmics, in the same 1983 in which he composed what I consider his masterpiece, " Dead Zone " ) and the composer of extremely rich orchestrations and who always valued the incomparable symphonic sound -- great Kamen!!! Thanks and bye!!!
From 14:00 onwards is one of the greatest closing finale tracks of all time. Magnificent.

Nell'Ottobre del 1957, lo Sputnik solcava i cieli, l'URSS aveva la bomba e la Guerra Fredda era alle porte.☢🤯 Questo lo scenario del racconto "The Iron Mask", del poeta inglese Ted Hughes scritto nel 1968 e da cui Pete Townshend trasse la sua opera Rock omonima nel 1993. L'amore di Townshend per il testo di Hughes è rimasto immutato, tanto da diventare il produttore di questo film di animazione. Dal racconto di Hughes, il regista Brad Bird ha realizzato un film delizioso e commovente, dal disegno accattivante con sfondi realistici, che sfruttano la potenza dell'animazione in computer grafica CGI, e lancia agli spettatori un sentito invito alla tolleranza.😊
Il cognome del protagonista è un omaggio a Ted Hughes.
Il film originalmente avrebbe dovuto essere un musical.😅
Il gigante di ferro compare anche nei film "Ready Player One" e "Space Jam: New Legends".

Any chance for a Michael Kamen The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (dvd - LD - Whatever ) rip from the actual score? As its very different from the CD release.

as far as I know there is no isolated score track on any dvd / blu-ray release, yet, nor can the audio be extracted properly from the movie. But fans are wishing for that score for quiet some time now and I have a feeling that it won't take too long anymore until we will get a fine expanded release!
