If a magazine was made specially for this rifle it could be unlimited because its a manual action and not a semi. The only reason it's pinned to 5 is because they decided to use Ar-15 mags.
it might, but i do beleive in gun control i would only allow semi automatics in very limited scenarios, if you would be wiling to apply for a class three title two license or tax status whatever a distructive weapons permit.. but i think a lot of gun cotrol advocates dont know about guns , thats why i watch a lot of these videos to learn so i can have an educated opinion, such guns are legal in the uk and austrlia, i think this would stop mass shootings for the most part, to restrict beyond the laws of strict nations like uk and australai is unrelaistic and unfair, private citizen do have that right to bear arms, just not military arms.. the police do rifles like this eg remington 7615
Cool Rifle. Nice review Couple of questions. What is your experience running the rifle, and do you still have it ? Any issues mechanically? I am considering getting one as a hunting rifle because as a soldier I am most comfortable with the ergonomics of an AR style rifle( and I get to improve my marksmanship). But here in Denmark they are quite expensive. I haven’t been able to find much information on the rifle online, so I thought I would ask you. Would you still recommend the rifle after having owned it for some time ? Best regards from a Dane
Well, we can have AR-15's and short barrelled rifles, but they can only go to the range and back. ACR's, XCR's, Tavors and those kinds of things are all non restricted.
We are well aware of that here in Canada. Unfortunately the bulk of voters etc are in big cities and have never had any real experience with Canadian firearm culture. So they are still working towards banning a lot of things despite the fact that the reasons for it are illogical and have no factual foundation. We are fighting hard up here much like you have been in the states.
Great video, thanks! Got a permit for one in 223 here in Norway, but with todays prices I'm waiting for a used one. Will be used for hunting from stands only, the old timers here are still very skittish about rifles produced post 1930!
Pretty cool. Im stuck between the 556 version with folding stock and the 308. Any suggestions? Be used for out back, pest control, yotes, some deer, etc. I have a 1 to 4 Vortex razor HD with EBR ret.
If I have to manually pump a round into the chamber, I want it to be a big mother :-) Can't go wrong with a .308 but they are more expensive to shoot. I really like mine, after replacing the stock trigger..it's horrible.
Do you know of any way to reduce the wear between the pump rod and the frame? You mentioned it causing some grittiness in the action, but I'm still interested in this weapon.
So, this is the "non-export' version, that take standart ar-15 mags. Will the export version (that take proprietary mags) will be avaible ? Bypassing the 5/10 rds limit would be a huge selling point.
@@Huntinggearguy They're great scopes, a bit under rated in my opinion. Well, I just won an auction on this rifle so it's looking like I'll have a very similar set up haha. Any more advice/insights on this rifle since this video?
thanks for the review Hunting Gear Guy !!! Can I ask , what was the model and make of scope on the rifle at the end of vid ?? Im starting to look into scopes and red dots... Only have exp. with iron sights .
That's a Sightron SIII 6-24 that I was using for accuracy testing. Not the scope I'd recommend for this rifle, I was just using it so that the optic was not holding the rifle's accuracy back. More on that scope: www.huntinggearguy.com/riflescope/sightron-siii-6-24-ffp-review/
Eventually, you'll trade off long distance magnification for short distance snap shooting. For a rifle like this, I'd recommend something with very reasonable magnification: 1-4, 2-7, or 3-9. More isn't really required unless you're doing 1000-ish yards, and this isn't the rifle for 1000 yard shooting.
It's different for sure,..but also, I think at least, and good looking 308 rifle. I would like that pump action. It would keep me from 'dumping' that expensive ammo.down range.
It is marketed as using AR mags, so the RCMP consider all mags made to fit it as AR mags and subject to those restrictions. We went through this rigamarole with the Remington 7615.
Technically you should be able to, but they use mags designed for a semi auto so no. You can get 10 round XCR-M pistol mags from Wolverine for the 308 or beowulf mags for 223.
If you want to hunt big game with a black rifle, it's one of the better options. Good accuracy, good cartridge, excellent optic mounting capabilities, and it doesn't cost $3k.
The feature of high cap mags would have been the best selling point. Since the upper / lower is not AR compatible maybe they should have done a non AR compatible mag well and sold high cap mags.
"Im gonna again check" Check what? the magic bullet that just appeared in the chamber? I am all for safety but that is ludicrous. That said nice video. Appreciated hearing your take on this rifle.
A lot of new shooters watch these review videos, so I make a visible effort of taking a few seconds and showing the steps. I'll try to keep it to once in future videos.
Banning semi automatics to the common people doesn't make citizens of a nation any safer. Disarm the women and weak in a population and they just become more vulnerable.

Thanks for the great review, as a Canadian the reasons you listed are exactly why I'm looking at getting this.
That was a great honest review. Awesome bro
Man, I've been waiting for a Canadian review of this rifle!
One terrific looking and designed rifle. BUT, pump actions CAN fire very fast, hopes this doesn't freak out the gun grabbers.
We have non restricted semi autos in Canada that fire even faster!

Looks good, this video and the one by IV8888 certainly make me interested in getting one of these.
CAN SOME OF YOU TELL ME WHAT KIND OF AFTERMARKET MAGAZINE I CAN USE ON THE TROY PAR 308 please?
so Canada is as crappy as my state of NY? That sucks. With all that wilderness and territory you should be able to have whatever you want.

norway!! prøver å finne ut om jeg skal ha 308 eller 223:)
Buy a ISSC PAR .223. It's an european product and it's because of non shipping costs even in norway cheaper about a 1/4. And the quality is the same

Definitely want one of these for hunting.
I saw it today in local gun store in California... very interesting option! Thank you!

Do you remember if the one youre using in the video had a 16' or 18" barrel?
Anybody know if this is the 16” or 18” version? Thanks
I can see what you are saying about the trigger during the shooting part of your video. Have you tried another trigger as of yet?
What about the barrel of them self can I put a 20in 308 Barrel from an AR-10 in it I was thinking about buying one of these to do a long-range build
Do you know of any way to reduce the wear between the pump rod and the frame? You mentioned it causing some grittiness in the action, but I'm still interested in this weapon.
Excellent review
hi everyone I was wondering if I can ask a question to all of you.. do you ever had problem extracting ? my shell gets stick in the chamber.. ...
Replace that JUNK stock trigger with a Giessle National Match Two Stage and you'll have a WINNER. It's a "drop in" fit.
So, this is the "non-export' version, that take standart ar-15 mags.
Will the export version (that take proprietary mags) will be avaible ? Bypassing the 5/10 rds limit would be a huge selling point.
I've heard rumours of a proprietary mag version, but I haven't seen any pics or details. Have you?
+The Hunting Gear Guy can you please review the Chinese type 81 and xcr?
이동연 I'll ask Tactical Imports about the Type 81. I think their first shipment has yet to get to customers.
The Hunting Gear Guy and plus armalite ar 180 and cmmg mk47 too.
And vz 58 too.
is that a Sightron mounted at the end?
Yeah, I usually use a Sightron SIII 6-24 when I test rifle accuracy.

Nice! I've been waiting for someone to do a review of the .308 version. Would an Accu wedge help with the play between the upper and lower?
Funny that you mention, I'm printing one up right now to try that out.
Great! Let us know how it goes.
Is this non restricted? Msrp?
Non restricted, around $1300-$1400 CDN.
Can someone list me a part number for a pic rail that slots into the 2 pump holes? I want to mount a grip instead of the standard handguard
how is the accuracy? would you compare it to a bolt action? id assume it would be just as accurate.
I found bolt action rifles to be more accurate.

Hey Adriel, question for you. Is that a threaded muzzle and if so, what threads are they? Standard 5/8 x 24?
No, it's a non standard thread.
That's incredibly disappointing. Oh well, I'm still looking forward to picking this up from my local shop.
So I recently picked up my PAR and they must have made a number of changes. Different handguard and the threads are 5/8 x 24 now. Interesting.

Since it's an ar10 mag, it has to be pinned, even if used in a pump...
so 30 rounds?

+redmudpei I mean why pump if it does not offer high capacity mag. might as well go with semi or bolt
