the government should have been more truthful to those in the industry regarding _"ongoing business"_ with respect to the regulations they planned on putting in place despite boldly lying about not having that plan.

Quite the opposite id say, Canadian and European industry will no longer struggle to compete with American offerings. Buy either a Canadian MDT chassis OR a American KRG chassis for 25-35% percent (factoring a sinking CAD exchange rate) more. Americans are essentially axing themselves out of world markets and theyre too stupid to even see it haha

I don’t think this will even last a month. Trudeau is going to implement his 25% tariffs on $30 billion worth of goods this Tuesday. Trump already warned do not retaliate because our idiot politicians are not listening to him by this weekend. US tariffs will be up to 50% at a minimum, I would not be surprised if they are not higher. Our government has no plan and they don’t react fast enough enough. How long do you think a business can last when tariffs get to 50%, 100%, 200% Trump is out to win and Canada is only positioned to lose. Trump’s goal is to make Canada part of the United States how we let that happen is up to us.

What people forget is that challenger and score do not completely manufacture shotgun shells they assemble them from imported components, so unfortunately, they will absolutely be affected by tariffs. The only stuff that may be safe from major price increases are european shells like Rio, eley, s&b (as long as they are not imported into the US first)

US Tariffs cost US consumers. If Canada refuses to play the dick measuring contest and does NOT "retaliate" with our own tariffs, the cost to us as consumers is NOTHING. It merely makes exports less competitive, which sucks yes, but we can always sell our stuff to others. And even at 25% tariff, our stuff might actually still be a better deal than elsewhere. Does the US want to import tundra natural resources from... where? Russia? Scandinavia with its EU tariffs?
We do NOT need to hurt our own consumers by engaging with this out of some ridiculous, childish pride. Let the US make our stuff expensive and let that lower our dollar. Both things make our exports much more competitive elsewhere. Instead of another round of UBI-in-disguise inflationary handouts, invest in oil and LNG pipelines and export terminals on each coast, as well as standing up domestic refining capacity.

US made ammunition and firearms are already expensive because of the low Canadian dollar. But Canada has a lot of non USA sources for firearms and ammunition, and for the most part US tariffs will have a minor impact. Yes, Tariffs will make some ammunition and firearms coming from the US more expensive, but keep in mind shooting is not a poor man’s sport either.
Also, if you see how many firearms related goods are coming from the US these days you will notice that throughout the years Canada has sourced many items outside the US. So US tariffs will have a minor impact on firearms and ammunition sourced from the US by Canada, and so it will not be a big deal for the industry. But more of an impact to the Canadian firearms market will be lost Canadian jobs which could shrink demands for firearms related goods in Canada, regardless of the source of these items. This video has pretty much confirmed what I just said anyways.

So I thought trump is putting tariffs on Canadian imports? So stuff made in Canada if an American company buys it the price gets jacked 25%. But I don’t think he’s gonna tariff American companies like cci and the like. Just trying to encourage American made stuff. Like why would American buy challenger shells when they’re 25% more just buy the Winchester stuff.
    Am I off base here?
