I found the dress of my dreams on the cover of Brides magazine, dreamed about that dress, fantasized about that dress. I was in love. And then our one bridal dept. had it on the maniquin when my mom and I were shopping. The consultant wouldn't even talk to me. She just looked at me and said "you won't fit in that" and walked away. I was crushed. I settled on a "pretty" dress, but not the one I really wanted. And I sure didn't feel special on my day. We're married 50 years now, so I guess it didn't really matter, but things like that can crush your soul for a while. This girl got the right dress, her dream dress, and I'm so happy for her.
Darlene, I'm so sorry you were treated that way, there is absolutely no excuse for anyone to be so rude. You could still have your dream dress if you really want to by doing a vow renewal. A lot of people do this for a significant anniversary and it means you get to wear whatever your heart desires...😃

I am a bridal consultant. This dress is not her size, she’s wearing a sample that is probably a little small for her, most stores will only have each style in one or two sizes for people to try on - that’s why you often see them clipped from behind when they’re too big. They will order her favorite dress in her size based on her measurements, and then it will be fit to her. Those tulle cap sleeves are gorgeous, they’re just a little snug in this size.

If you plan to wear a veil, ask the consultants to try on a veil with any dress that’s a contender. A veil can truly morph almost any dress. She’s beautiful in both and I’m thrilled she found her perfect dress!

The thickness of her natural hair isn’t the same as the extensions and so it looks off!😅 I’m sorry but I think her natural hair looks better than the extensions do!

Unpopular opinion: Maybe it wasn’t meant to be an insult? I’ve heard of plenty of brides that plan to lose weight for their wedding and shop for dresses in their “goal size” instead of their current size. The consultant was just asking to be sure.

She should be concerned about her weight, for health reasons. I'm not trying to be mean. I was a plus size after I had my children and for my health, I cut back and lost the weight. When I got married, 2nd time, 30 years ago, I couldn't find a wedding dress i liked in my size, so I ordered a bridesmaid gown in Ivory. No one knew it wasn't a wedding dress, but I was devastated being, told we don't carry it in your size, at the wedding shops, until one dress shop owner helped me with the bridesmaid dress.
