- In my last Live I completed the bowl except for taking off the tenon and getting the finish applied. I don’t regularly show this process but thought that some of my viewers might like to see how I go through it. I hope you enjoy watching.

Very nice, Doug! Thanks for sharing! 😎😎😎
Thank you Gord. Praying you’re doing well.
Nice job!
Thanks so much.
Beautiful finished bowl , Doug. 😊
Thank you Copper. I really like this hornbeam.
Really nice looking bowl, Doug!
Thank you Billy.
Good stuff Doug! That turned out great.
Thank you so much!
Nice finish! If you haven’t made a decision on sanding paper yet, I would recommend a look at Serious Grit. Just purchased from them a few weeks ago. I have used them on my last three pieces. Been really happy.
Thank you John. I’ll give Serious Grit a look. I appreciate the suggestion.
Very pretty bowl Doug. Nice trick removing that nub as well.
What sandpaper are you liking there. Always looking for something better. But since I have tried the 3M Pro sandpaper and I have been very happy with it. Of course I am referring to sheets of paper.
Thank you Gary. For being the first time I turned any I really like this hornbeam. As for the sand paper I think I prefer the White Rhino Velcro backed paper from Indesa over the paper I used in this video. For me the White Rhino seems to hold up better and the cost is a lot less. I’m going to have a chat with the US rep for this new to me brand to see if there is something better that I ought to test. Thanks so much for you comments and for watching.
I will look into the White Rhino. The last batch of 2 inch disk from Wood Turner Wonders had problems with the 80-120 grit holding up. The would not stay stuck on for very long.
The Hornbeam looks interesting. Have never heard of it around here.
Take care,
Gary
@ThePapa1947 I order it directly from Indesa in 3x3 sheets and cut it my self. I put an old bandsaw blade on and cut the paper into 2” x2” squares. You could always use a 2” punch to cut circles.
I have been wondering if they could be cut with a laser.
@ThePapa1947 I bet they can
That's the way I like to remove tenons, but it took a few failures to teach me to stop when I say to myself, "Just one more cut," 5:00 before nipping off the nub.
What is that liquid wax you use?
Thanks for watching. I learned the tenon removal technique from Phil Anderson and Papa1947. The part most folks forget is to turn the speed down to between 200-300 for the Final Cut. Then you can usually hold the bowl against the drive with the bevel. Easy-peasy.
I don’t generally show or talk about the liquid wax in public forums only because one of my sponsors doesn’t care for it at all. Ask me privately and I’ll be happy to share that info with you.
@@DougMilleratWoodSpunRound I'll email you.
